Hello everyone, well it's officially summer.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

ha ha well Ts, doesn't that mean yours will too soon? Does she start in Sept too? There's not a lot in their ages is there. Glad you didn't get stopped by police!

tortoiseSHELL · 26/06/2008 21:45

No, she is finishing reception so will be in Y1 and doing REAL work! They had a 'trying out instruments' afternoon at school, and she has been set on doing cello for ages, so she had a go and looked SO sweet with a teeny cello! So she's starting that in September too. You're right, she and your dd are close in age, but she is August (and a good thing too )

unknownrebelbang · 26/06/2008 21:56

Good to see everything went well Prufrock.

Hope you're feeling better tomorrow www/batters, and that DS enjoyed the event at the grammar school today.

Lol - how does one calm a bull on the rampage in a city centre?

  • Sunscreen at all times yy
  • No booze.
  • 1 1/2 mile hike + twister.
  • Lots of water/weak tea
  • Apply body cream - lax.
  • Use hand cream - yy,
  • Go to bed early, midnightish.
  • Eat healthily - far too many rich tea biscuits (but it could have been sooo much worse!). Tea out with the boys, so, erm, not the best days foodwise.
  • Be happy. Well, tis almost the weekend.

Computers back to normal, so busy but productive day. The boys were good company whilst we were out too. DH texted me to say they'd got a delay. I do hope he wasn't after sympathy, lol.

Going back to bags...and scraping the barrel, lol, DH bought me [[http://www.hippyshopper.com/2008/06/cath_kidston_ch.html this bag}} this morning. rofl.

unknownrebelbang · 26/06/2008 21:58

tsk

this bag

We have two August babes (definitely blardy good job with DS3!). In fact, we're all August birthdays apart from DS2.

unknownrebelbang · 26/06/2008 21:59

Oh, and DS2 had rather a sweet report from his cello teacher.

(DS2 is the one that rarely practises TS, although we do try...)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 26/06/2008 22:05

Good to see you back Pru, glad you like your shiny new norks.

Yes, Archie is over a month old. And yet it is this week that I begin to feel fat, saggy and exhausted. Tiredness not surprising as after doing 3 night feeds I was up at 5am. I have eaten a lot of biscuits today just to keep going. Lots of fruit too but have been too bloody busy to make a sensible snack.

I did remember my Omron and have done 11,500 steps. Face & hands done. Feet are suddenly dreadful - really rough and dry, I must resume use of Flexitol on daily basis.

Hoping to get some rest over the weekend - plus we have an inset day on Monday (so typically the weather forecast is crap).

I am not quite as miserable as I sound btw!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/06/2008 22:11

www - I felt crap last weekend - for 2 days after I had wine, having not drunk in ages. Can't be a sugar crash for me. I just can't handle my drink anymore.

ureb - your link isn't working for me.

Have had a lovely evening watching dd's school dance performance. dd had a part in the last dance and reduced my mother to tears - it was a bit emotional after everything she's been through.

Diet rubbish today

Banana
Greggs sausage roll
Large amount of feta cheese, some ham and some cheddar (grazing at the fridge) nuts and chocolate covered raisins
Pasta and roasted veg
Too much coffee, not enough water

Actually although I only had one proper meal that could have been much worse.

Twink · 26/06/2008 22:19

Really glad everything went well Pru and hope the new norks settle into their new bras

[Been low profile as have had a crazy year doing GTP, a school-based training programe for career-changers wanting to teach so time has been v limited. Have passed all my final assessments this week so now have Qualified Teacher Status ]

Off to find heavy-duty moisturiser for my neglected body but on plus side did a heavy-duty gym session tonight - I doubt I'll be able to raise my arm to write on the whiteboard by tomorrow afternoon.

batters - hope things look better in the morning.

Bundle · 26/06/2008 23:45

pru tis not my superior knowledge, i merely splurge what i find. anyhow your bellis and www's protein is great for you both - and that's what counts. I'm really happy you and your norks are ok!

I've just got back from the west end with dd1 and her two friends - we saw Hairspray which was terrific and now they're eating marshmallows and having talent contests until they drop..I refuse to chivvy them into bed (sleepover because of inset day tomorrow!)

Bundle · 26/06/2008 23:45

oh batters that's a toughie

good to sleep on it though...xxx

Marina · 27/06/2008 09:34

Mixed bag here
at Twink's wonderful career change, well done at QTS and tell us more about subject, next step, how you made the leap
at that body blow batters, I really feel for you love XXX hope you find a way to broach the topic with dd that does not lead to meltdown on her part. Now surely the change of plan was the idea of her friend...
at poor tired duchess and her flaky feet, I hope somehow you do manage some proper r & r in the next few days
at TS' dd and her teeny cello (dd may start piano next term, she definitely has an ear) and saggars' daughter's school dance show
Hope ds enjoyed his day at the GS, www, and your dd1 had a nice birthday bundy
Busy old day for me yesterday, not enough walking, but water and good eating and cream were all present and correct.

yoyo · 27/06/2008 14:55

Hope all who are currently having problems with DDs and DSs are having better days. Getting on reasonably well with DD1 at the moment although I doubt that it will last!

Pru - how are you feeling?
DoNB - hope you are having some rest.
Marina - weight still going down. The amount is less relevant. Well done.
WWW - for many reasons (and plenty of excuses) I have drunk far too much this week and have eaten extremely well. Enjoy your promised lie in.

I am off to collect children now and will be going to the gym before DD's concert this evening. I am now on holiday. Hurrah.

Prufrock · 27/06/2008 16:10

Oh no bundle - I am quite sure that your knowledge is superior - I am simply determined to be in denial . Let me know if you ever want to do a programme on the wonders of breast reduction.

batters, I am sure that your dd was simply exhibiting kindness and empathy towards your friends ds, and the fact they came to no harm I think shows that she is sensible enough to have made some decent estimation of the actual risks. Having said that, I would be coming down on her like a ton of bricks for the deception. Good luck.

Bundle · 27/06/2008 18:39

pru will bear that in mind!

(you know i mean well )

eemie · 27/06/2008 22:19

Batters, sorry you feel crap. How old your dd? Hope it all seems a lot better once you've talked to her and understood it from her pov.

My own dd back today from three days and two nights away with the school - big milestone (she's nine). She's had a great time, is full of jokes we haven't heard and stories about everything they did/ate/said.

My Mum has arrived to stay, meet puppy and attend concerts this w/e (think I'm by now grown-up enough not to mind if she's overly critical? We'll see, won't we?)

Mum brought presents from my sisters and took us out to dinner for my birthday - haven't enjoyed food so much for weeks (Nepalese).

Early night - got to walk puppy/take dd to karate/shop/sort music/practise/make food for soloists/and for our tea/iron concert dress/get to rehearsal by 1.30pm tomorrow.

WideWebWitch · 28/06/2008 09:29

Sorry to hear this batters. I would be cross too but on the bright side at least they didn't come to any harm, sorry, that probably doesn't help.

Ts, oh yes, forgot your dd is a bit older than mine, doesn't time fly?

unknown, all Aug birthdays, I find it a pita when we're all close together, ds and I are Oct along with both my sister's children then dd is Nov, then it's Christmas, expensive last quarter of the year for us. January is a relief tbh!

DofN, sorry you're feeling it this week and I hope next week is an improvement for you.

Saggars, sadly I think my alcohol tolerance is lowering enormously and I don't seem to be able to lie in, was up at 7ish, despite dh leaving me to it - the habit of getting up early in the week is hard to break at the weekend. A Greggs sausage roll? and , bet it was lovely. I must admit to liking soggy just microwaved sausage rolls with brown sauce. I'm not joking, I really do. Well, did, I don't do carbs any longer, obv. How lovely about your dd's dance.

Twink, how lovely to hear of a new career.

Yoyo at your holiday but enjoy!

Eemie, glad your dd had a lovely time, loads of us on this thread have recently seen off that age child to a school camp for the first time, saggers has a terrifying picture on her profile iirc!

Cam, link to amazing heels pic please, I'd like to vicariously enjoy them as I simply can't do heels these days I hope your ball is great.

WideWebWitch · 28/06/2008 09:32

WEll despite my good intentions I did weigh myself this morning and the bad news is I haven't lost any weight, as predicted but the good news is that neither have I put any on . So, next week I must

eat less cheese and chorizo
not drink in week (easy, this one)
walk at least 15 mins a day, haven't been doing well on that front at all

It could be worse, much worse, given wine etc.

Last night ate prawns dipped in aoili with cheese and french mustard and proscuitto
drank Champagne, went to bed at 11pm.

Dh has taken dd out so I have the house to myself (ds gone to his dad's), bliss.

May have a long Chanel scented bath.

Just passing through to vent about ds2's crap night last night. I'm so f&kn angry .

He got mugged for his phone, by a gang, with a knife.

He's a wreck this morning mentally; physically he's OK thank God. Of all my kids he's the one least equipped to cope with this sort of thing. He got thumped by a random youth a couple of years ago too and his confidence was in shreds for a long time. I could bloody weep for him, honestly.

WideWebWitch · 28/06/2008 11:50

OMG Saggars, how sad and awful, poor him and you.

Police have been fab. Really pulled out the stops and have several people in custody.

ds is also gutted as SOCO have all his best clothes. It was all abit of a nightmare as I was out (rare as hen's teeth) dh had to rush off and leave dd home alone whilst I extricated myself from restaurant and legged it home in my heels.

Cammelia · 28/06/2008 14:10

Hi all

Batters, my dd last summer had a friend from Guides round (who is a couple of years older) to play in the garden. They decided to walk down the road to her house without asking me.

Thing is, they were wearing bikinis and wellies at the time (don't ask) and are both v. attractive girls. They walked down the pavement of a main road.

I didn't know they'd gone until I went outside to offer them a drink. The parents of the friend had decided to go out while their dd was at my house.

Luckily dd and friend came straight back and were gone for approx 10-15 mins.

I had to do the "How could I know where you were?" speech.
