Do you "get ready" every day

If you're staying in all day, do you still get up and do hair and makeup (I don't mean done up to the nines) or do you not bother? Are you always ready to face the world or do you only "get ready" if you're leaving the house?

Oh, absolutely do not get ready if I’m just staying at home. TBH I only really get ready for work and to “go out”; I’m quite happy to wander around the shops without make up etc done

Clean my teeth, wash body and face, brush hair , moisturise and that is it As I am invisible I don't even know why I do that, apart from wanting to be clean and fresh. Been in my pyjamas alll day today as I have not been well for almost a week now and everything is a bit of an effort.

I feel better with make up so I do it most days. My hair is wavy and washed once a week and no styling needed. If I wasn’t going out (rare) I’d get dressed as a minimum as I feel a bit grotty if I don’t, probably do skincare, concealer (my broken veins annoy me) and lipstick. I feel more focused and more cheerful if I get properly ready for the day with makeup, nice outfit etc.

I have two states, in or out. If I’m not leaving the house I will have a shower (or a bath) and wash hair, do skincare, then just put on joggers/sweatshirt type clothes. If I’m leaving the house I dry/straighten hair, nice clothes, makeup. My only middle ground is my weekly reformer class where I wear gym type clothes and a little bit of skin tint, mascara, tinted lip balm.

I absolutely always wear perfume though!

Shower , teeth and brush hair if not going out.

Shinyandnew1 · 11/05/2026 23:34

Yes, shower, get dressed, brush hair, put a bit of make up on, unless I’m ill.

LittleBrownBaby · 11/05/2026 23:39

Every single day, make up. I wfh but on calls all day. Hair sometimes just a messy up do, but always done. I like doing my make up though, I’m early 40s

Those saying about helping your skin breathe from makeup - I don't put any makeup on my skin, apart from occasional blusher, as I'm very pale, and use minimal eye makeup. Tbh, my skin is much better for it, the dark circles under my eyes vanished when I stopped covering them up.

Like others have said, I feel much better getting up and ready for the day in the morning and leaving the house. The only time I wouldn't, is if I was too ill.

Don't 'get ready' when staying in or leaving the house, other than getting dressed and making sure hair is presentable (my interpretation is probably looser than others). Never wear makeup, rarely dress up. I'm 40, have always been this way.

larkandowl · 14/05/2026 16:25

Always brush my hair but it's long so not much needed to it.

Always do my eye make up, it's quite defined but only takes me 30 seconds.
Literally.

If I'm going out and about I will apply some CC or BB cream (can never remember which it is!).

My DH also takes a bit of pride (no make up ;) - we're not in track suits unless planning to work out.
