Do you "get ready" every day

If you're staying in all day, do you still get up and do hair and makeup (I don't mean done up to the nines) or do you not bother? Are you always ready to face the world or do you only "get ready" if you're leaving the house?

I always get up and ‘ready’ for the day. I wouldn’t every just stay in pjs from night before.

What ‘ready’ is depends. If im staying home sick it might just be showers and comfy clothing, it might be ready to do garden work or just day to day regular stuff. If im going somewhere ‘nice’ then its a different kind of ready

LameStrangeNameChange · 09/05/2026 15:55

Only if I’m leaving the house

JLou08 · 09/05/2026 15:58

My 'getting ready' is very simple. I don't wear make up and I don't spend much time on my hair. So I'd do the same if I was staying in for the sake of hygiene and comfort. I couldn't not wash, brush my teeth, hair and put clean clothes on.

Chuffingcupboard · 09/05/2026 16:02

Clean and dressed with hair brushed every day. Stopped wearing makeup in 2020 except special occasions. If I plan on spending the day gardening might be ok to go to the supermarket but would change to go to the pub or a restaurant.

mynameiscalypso · 09/05/2026 16:23

Yes. I feel gross if I don’t get ready plus I leave the house (or have online meetings) pretty much every day. I always have clean and styled hair, although that generally just means running straighteners through it, wear light make up and get dressed in proper clothes. It only takes 5-10 minutes and it makes me feel happy.

Blablasheep · 09/05/2026 16:28

If by "doing my hair" you mean brushing it, then yes, I do that every day. And not much else to be honest.
No make up what so ever if I'm not going anywhere. Even if I do, it's minimal, a bit of concealer and tinted moisturizer.

awfulapril · 09/05/2026 16:29

Always, did the same during lockdown. Never succumbed to track pants.

Safarisagoody · 09/05/2026 16:30

Yes, I sleep I a heatless curling rod, so doing my hair is dead easy, I take it out, bouncy curls, job done. I apply light make up after my shower, and some scented moisturiser and some perfume,

I always always wear something lovely. Since losing weight and getting rid of all my old clothes, I now have a lovely new wardrobe. On days at home, it’s either a dress or a pair of wide leg tailored trousers, and a nice top something comfy, seldom a fixed waist band.

today is this outfit but In a very deep navy, comfy, soft and lovely on.

Yes. In case someone comes to the door or I need to nip out. I might change to go out but at least my hair and make up are done.

Same here. I always shower first thing, then style my hair and spend 5 mins on makeup. Then whatever the day brings, I look presentable and feel confident.

Frazzledinmyforties · 09/05/2026 16:37

I never used to do my make up unless I was going out. I now have perimenopausal acne and if I don’t put my make up on, I genuinely feel shit when I go past a mirror. My hair takes two minutes so that gets done but is then normally clipped up/ in a bun for half of the day.
I do live in tracksuits and loungewear though.

HollyhockDays · 09/05/2026 16:38

Depends. I moisturise every day. And mostly put in some liquid eyeliner and mascara. I used to wash and style my hair every day but cannot be bothered anymore!

AgnesMcDoo · 09/05/2026 16:41

I only wear make up on a night out.

But wash and dry and style my hair every day.

DefiantRabbit9 · 09/05/2026 16:42

I only take care of my skin. There's been a couple of times I've tried to get back into the whole makeup thing but it genuinely makes my skin want to crawl away. It's not for me.

Echobelly · 09/05/2026 16:47

I only get ready in terms of putting on make up, for a going to work night out, party, special occasion or synagogue. Otherwise I don't do anything except wash, brush my teeth and get dressed. And maybe brush my hair (which is short) if I remember to. I do always dress, even if I'm not leaving the house much, because I feel really grotty if I stay in pyjamas all day.

WhatNextImScared · 09/05/2026 16:50

I used to always wear make up to leave the house but I stopped at some point in my late thirties. Now I only put it on for important in person meetings or going for dinner with friends etc

Stars26 · 09/05/2026 16:53

I get dressed, washed do my skincare and mascara every day. Even just in the house. Just feel better with a little mascara on. ( have fine and pale eye lashes)

Other stuff depends on the plans. I only like a very light foundation coverage . But that’s the most make up i wear day to day. I can add eyeshadow/liner if going out for meals/drinks/gigs etc.

Justbreathagain · 09/05/2026 16:56

I would at least brush my hair, wash my face and moisturise. Put on clean clothes even if just chilled clothes but not make up or style my hair if I was staying in all day

Pinkdumpling · 09/05/2026 17:17

I dont own any make-up or perfume.

I wake up have a gallon of coffee a few fags, shower get dressed, E45 mosturiser, roll on for pits spray deodrant, vaseline for lips, brush teeth, clip hair up with claw clip thats me done.

FinallyHere · 09/05/2026 17:18

Floss and wash my teeth before bed, just brush teeth on rising.

everything else is entirely situation depended.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 09/05/2026 17:20

I can’t really not do my hair but after a wash it will last a couple of days. It’s curly so if I just leave it it gets very very poofy. Make up, no. I don’t even do my make up every time I leave the house, but I have dyed eyebrows and eyelashes extensions so it’s kind of already done.

Sunscreen always though. Even indoors.

notacooldad · 09/05/2026 17:20

Yes! The older I get the more effort I seem to put in!

MaidOfSteel · 09/05/2026 17:21

I don’t get out much as I have mobility issues, but I like to keep my hair tidy and my skin moisturised.

I only bother with make-up, though, if I will be going out. I use a brow pencil, then eyeliner and mascara on my top lashes. Without these, I look like a potato head! Middle age means my features are much less defined, sadly.

A bit of concealer under my eyes and some lip gloss and that’s about it. I always try to dress nicely and that helps me feel presentable.

caloriesincaloriesout · 09/05/2026 17:23

No. I shower, brush my teeth & hair, wear clean clothes and do my skincare routine. I only properly style my hair or put my face on if I’m going to work or going out for lunch or to meet friends etc, I don’t bother for nipping to the shops or walking the dogs.

littleorangefox · 09/05/2026 17:25

Yes I do and always have even with newborn babies and small children.

Some days if I'm staying home are a bit more casual in the sense of I'll take advantage of wearing leggings with a long jumper because I can wear an underwired bra and be comfortable 😂 But I always wash, put the same makeup on as I do every day and do my hair. Usually half up in some fashion and either straightened or curled. I'm not one for a "mum bun" mainly because it wouldn't suit me!

ZiggyZowie · 09/05/2026 17:25

Yes, I brush my hair, and my teeth, put on moisturiser, eyeliner, lipstick and nice co-ordinated clean clothes,

it makes me feel better about myself and I may or may not go out .

I'm 68 in a few weeks and like to make an effort always .
