Is it a bit dated to turn up skinny jeans?

I bought a pair of skinny jeans , they fit great but are a bit too long. Just wondering would it look stupid if I just turned them up. I feel like it might look a bit naff or dated.

I think you’ve maybe gone down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theory. Likely as you’re disgruntled as you’re not seen as current in your attire.

In reality it’s just we want to look good. That’s what fashion is. It’s a cultural shift to something people think look good. On us or other people.

becsuse we once thought something looked good, doesn’t mean we need to wear it forever more. Our tastes can change and evolve.

I will give you an example. I dislike barrel leg jeans, I have never seen a pair on anyone I thought looked good, so I never tried them. Today I was in H&M and saw a pair. More narrow barrel on the hanger. And I thought they look good. I will try them. And I did. And I genuinely Really liked the way they loooked on. They were hugely flattering. So I bought them. It’s the below and I thoroughly recommend them. I didn’t buy them as I want to be in some barrel leg cropped jeans tribe. I’m an intelligent woman. I bought them as I found them flattering on.

The barrel legs I wear are like this - I think some people who say they look ridiculous are thinking of exaggerated "horseshoe jeans" which were much-screenshotted last year.
They are slightly wider in the leg and taper like these Next ones, which was a common jean shape in the 80s made by Wrangler and Lee.

Yes I think you’re right, I am thinking of the ones I see on younger people which are very exaggerated, those and rhe ones I got are a much slimmer fit, still barrel shaped but much easier to wear and very flattering on.

Nah. Disgruntled is definitely not where I am at. 😄
I was 'educating myself' after your comment about the powers of the fashion houses to decide what is fashionable and why so many people are willing to listen to them.

But I don’t think they are, the fashion houses come up with many things the population rejects. When something takes hold, and there is a shift towards it, it’s becaude people think it looks good, and often are sick of a previous style. As humans we don’t want to look the same day after day, year after year. We want to change it up, wear different things. It’s not just clothes, it’s food, interior design, car types, foot wear, drinks, everything. As humans stuck in a rut is not the norm desire, we want to continue to evolve and change. I understand some don’t, and that’s ok too.
