Is this dress too white for a wedding guest?

Normally I'm in the camp of if you need to ask then it's a no but keen to hear what other's thoughts are. Is there too much white?
Thanks!

Ooo interesting! A sunny warm holiday with a balcony or terrace.. doesn't everyone who goes on summer holidays go on those? Whether in the Canaries or the Maldives..

Went to the Canaries once-- very boring. I've been in hotels in hot places - don't think I've ever "flung" something on and "padded" to the balcony.

😂I couldn't agree more about the canaries.. but others love it. Oh well you've missed out..

Yes but I'd probably be inclined to "fling" on my denim shorts and bikini before a dress listed under wedding guest dresses but perhaps thats just me. I can't say I've seen anyone on holiday wearing a dress like this to breakfast 🤔

Ahh ok = that's because I see it as night / lounge wear not a wedding guest dress.

Weeelokthen · Yesterday 09:23

Yeah, absolutely fine. Lovely

Onelifeonly · Yesterday 09:25

It doesn't look remotely like a wedding dress and is predominantly pink / purple but I also thought it looks like a dressing gown (before I read any comments)

Northermcharn · Yesterday 09:27

This is a bit like the what colour is this dress scenario. Some see blue some see gold.. Some see wedding guest dress some see dressing gown 😂

Not really. I can usually cope with putting some clothes on and walking the short distance to the balcony. Not sure what "flinging" and "padding" would add to the experience.

I suppose I might have "flung" on a raincoat when a fire alarm went off in a hotel in Paris at 2 a.m but equally might have "grabbed" it.

MaidOfSteel · Yesterday 09:59

I can’t be doing with this ‘too white for a wedding’ crap. The dress is lovely, OP, and no-one is going to mistake you for the bride. I hope you wear it.

I was going to say this exact thing but when I saw it I. Hanged my mind. It has a lot of white but is very far removed from a bridal or evening gown. Also, the print is quite bold. I wouldn’t have thought twice about seeing this at my wedding :)

Member984815 · Yesterday 10:31

I think it's fine, it's got a print on it and doesn't resemble a wedding dress. It's lovely

luckylavender · Yesterday 10:43

It's not white, it's fine

ImFineItsAllFine · Yesterday 11:30

Not too white. Definitely getting dressing gown vibes though (even before reading any of the replies on the thread)

Balloonhearts · Yesterday 13:57

It looks like a dressing gown to me too, sorry.

Definitely not put it on "gingerly" then.

It’s not too white and I like the print. But the thing that puts me off is the amount of leg you’d potentially be showing. You might not be like me ( with horrible legs!) but I’d be constantly holding it together and that would drive me mad over a long day.

Megifer · Yesterday 15:07

I think its gorgeous for a wedding, not too white, its only on MN people think you cant have anything with white on at all.

Ive got one coming up in June and I really like the look of this dress (and the leopard print mesh one I saw 😬) yours looks nothing like a dressing gown Im really confused by those comments

FruAashild · Yesterday 15:11

Oh look, there's the bride' said noone ever when they saw a wedding guest in this dress. Gorgeous and appropriate.

Northermcharn · Yesterday 15:18

No ones saying it looks like a wedding dress or is too white. Approx 50% people are saying it looks like a dressing gown or similar.

SpringyOnions · Yesterday 15:24

Notmyreality · Yesterday 07:02

It’s a typical summer dress and ideal for a summer wedding.

Personally thinking all the “dressing gown” comments are from projecting people who lack the body confidence to pull it off themselves.

I have to say, I think a lot of people on Mumsnet have absolutely no idea of fashion and style. And just because they see something that they wouldn’t like or wear, they automatically think there is something wrong with it! This dress would not be for me, but I can completely see it suiting someone else. It is clearly not a dressing gown.

It's gorgeous but too white imo. I want it though.
