Normally I'm in the camp of if you need to ask then it's a no but keen to hear what other's thoughts are. Is there too much white?
Thanks!

That is fine

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 23/04/2026 19:00

Not too much white because of the huge pattern, but the wrap detail, front split, and kimono sleeves all combine to make it look like a summer dressing gown.

StripedTee · 23/04/2026 19:02

Too white and looks like a nightdress to me.

ExperiencedTeacher · 23/04/2026 19:08

You could have posted a link to a black midi dress and someone would say it’s too white, too bridal, trying to steal the bride’s thunder etc etc.

It’s a lovely dress, OP

BasiliskStare · 23/04/2026 19:11

Not too white at all in my view

SpringyOnions · 23/04/2026 19:26

It’s fine in the normal world. The bridezillas of MN have some bizarre ideas about acceptable wedding guest garb. That is a colourful dress, not white.

I wanted my guests to be comfy and happy. And if anybody mixed up the guests with me as the bride, they clearly shouldn’t have been at the wedding!

Rubyupbeat · 23/04/2026 19:28

Not too white at all, it's lovely.

Ghostspritz · 23/04/2026 19:31

Not too white. It’s not remotely bridal.

Strawberry53 · 23/04/2026 19:33

I wouldn’t personally, you’ll just be self conscious on the day if you’ve had to ask the question.

SirChenjins · 23/04/2026 19:35

Not at all - I love it!

Ribenaberry12 · 23/04/2026 19:42

I really like it. I think it’s pretty and not too much white at all. I think as long as you go for a colour shoes/hat/bag and not white that’ll put your mind at rest.

faggotsandmushypaes · 23/04/2026 19:47

I thought it was a dressing gown for a moment.

Macadamia20 · 23/04/2026 20:01

Thanks for all the comments, the dressing gown ones are food for thought!!

My first thought was wrong link as you posted a dressing gown!

Vitrolinsanity · 23/04/2026 20:13

It’s lovely, I would wear it without hesitation.

BewareoftheLambs · 23/04/2026 20:13

Definitely too white. Generally best to avoid white as a background colour for wedding guest dresses.

zebrastripesarefun · 23/04/2026 20:14

Lovely dress. Not too much white. Enjoy the wedding

Vitrolinsanity · 23/04/2026 20:14

The dressing gown comments are silly.

Planner2026 · 23/04/2026 20:15

That’s gorgeous! Go for it

Birdsongsinging · 23/04/2026 20:16

Lovely dress and not too white at all. Folk are ridiculous about this!

It was the first thing I thought when I saw it, so I don't think it's silly to point it out, it's obviously quite a common reaction!

They aren't really if that's what several people (myself included) first thought when they saw the dress. I'm in my 50's and this reminded me straight away of something my mum had when I was young. She was very glamorous!

AxolotlEars · 23/04/2026 20:28

It's lovely

VictoriaEra · 23/04/2026 20:28

Not white at all. Very floral. Go for it.

Definitely too white. Generally best to avoid white as a background colour for wedding guest dresses.

Let's be sensible. Is anybody going to think that is a wedding dress? No. Therefore it doesn't matter that it contains white.

The fact that it looks like a dressing gown would bother me more. Sorry, but that was my first thought too.
