Normally I'm in the camp of if you need to ask then it's a no but keen to hear what other's thoughts are. Is there too much white?
Thanks!

Let's be sensible. Is anybody going to think that is a wedding dress? No. Therefore it doesn't matter that it contains white.

The fact that it looks like a dressing gown would bother me more. Sorry, but that was my first thought too.

I am quite sensible thank you. It isn't about being mistaken for the bride, that sounds a silly idea. It's just tradition that only the bride wears white.

ThatPlumCrow · 23/04/2026 20:30

Its a strong hmmmm from me so it's too white imo

TwelvePinkDolphins · 23/04/2026 20:34

Looks fine to me. The background looks to be pale pink rather than white, on my screen anyway.

If you have to ask, then it is.

Absolutely fine. Nice dress. Some people on here are batshit re this topic, lol.

IwantToDatePicard · 23/04/2026 20:51

I wouldn't risk it, there is always someone ready to condemn you to hell for wearing it. It is very pretty though.

FlayOtters · 23/04/2026 21:02

without even looking, if you have to ask, the answer is always 'yes'

They aren't really if that's what several people (myself included) first thought when they saw the dress. I'm in my 50's and this reminded me straight away of something my mum had when I was young. She was very glamorous!

Yes, I’m the same age and that’s what it reminded me of.

My very glam Auntie, in her satin dressing gown and fluffy pink slippers with a little heel.

Italiangreyhound · 23/04/2026 21:18

Gorgeous dress
Not too white.

TheSpecialTwo · 23/04/2026 21:30

It’s fine, of course a floral dress is ok. There’s not a complete ban on white!

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 23/04/2026 22:07

It’s totally fine.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2026 22:08

It's absolutely fine.

It’s fine. A little like a dressing gown to me but the colours are fine.

Dressing gown is what I first thought, not keen on it.

Saxendi · 23/04/2026 22:11

The pattern is absolutely fine, there’s just something not quite right about the style of the dress, I’m sure you could find something nicer, sorry!

Daisyhon · 23/04/2026 22:12

No it’s not too white , it’s not a plain white dress , floral pattern breaks it up . If u like it then get it .

Sprinkleofspice · 23/04/2026 22:26

I don’t think you’d be mistaken for the bride but I personally wouldn’t wear any predominantly white dress just out of tradition. In the photos this looks very cream though, but that might just be my phone

For me it’s too white for the photos. The proportion of white stands out especially with any photos taken from afar where the print won’t be as visible.

Namechangerage · 23/04/2026 22:31

And I really don’t like it but that’s by the by…

Likeabirdjoyfully · 23/04/2026 22:33

It's fine weddingy but not bridal.

curious79 · 23/04/2026 22:34

Any regular English person will think this isn’t even remotely white. After all it’s got a great big floral pattern on it.
Anyone American, or ingesting American content, will view this as too white. I once wore a base cream silk dress covered in bright red flowers and green stems to an American wedding (plus red shawl, red heels) and I was literally being hassled by people.

I don't think it's a tradition at all. I'd never even heard of it before Mumsnet. My MiL wore a white jacket to our wedding, over a white dress with a big floral print and nobody batted an eyelid, including me.

Tryagain26 · 23/04/2026 22:40

Not too white but it look like a robe to me.

alwaysstressed · 23/04/2026 22:44

You will look like youve just gotten out of the bath
