Anyone interested in a glow-up support thread for tips and accountability?

Is anyone interested in a glow up support thread? I thought it might be nice to have somewhere to keep me accountable, share tips and things to avoid etc.

Glow up can be for any reason, summer, anti-aging, wedding etc?

I’m just about to turn 42, always looked young but in the past few years I have noticed age creeping up on me. I need to lose a bit of weight, need to improve tone and texture of my arms and legs. My face is dull and suffers with open pores so lots to work on for me 😂

Would love to hear from anyone else looking to work on their appearance too 👋

I am definitely in!!!!!

Need to lose weight & remember who I was before I got ill.

LivingwithHopenowandforever · 14/04/2026 22:53

I so want to lose the weight around my waist so would love some help on that please Ladies!

@Chocolatecoffeecup no it’s not painful at all, it is like plastic bag socks with the chemical in and you soak your feet, then after about 4 days all the dead skin sheds off. If you soak them daily in hot water it helps them shed, but you mustn’t moisturise until it’s finished peeling, it takes a couple of days. Then you’re left with lovely soft feet

MrsWhites · 15/04/2026 07:04

Seems like there are quite a few of us here now with similar goals 🥰

I really want to try the lymphatic drainage face tool thing - sure that’s not the technical name 😂

I’ve also been pinching bits of the kids Easter chocolate and I’m still not drinking enough water so I really need to up that.

Work is kicking my arse this week though, I like the idea of a weekly everything shower with a face mask etc afterwards, that seems like a good opportunity to carve some time out for me.

Thanks the @thenewaveragebear1983 I'll give it a go and report back!

@notnorman A teeth clean could help but sounds like you might be looking for some kind of whitening product?

@MrsWhites Like a gua sha thingy or something else? I've got one of those and managed to keep up with it for a about three days...

I would like to join you OP! I am same age and same issues really, need to lose about 3 stone and have noticed some sagging in my face that wasn’t there before! I’ve lost about half a stone so far and have stopped (as much as one can stop!) eating UPF as much as I can. I didn’t eat much beforehand, never any ready meals but the odd biscuit or bag of crisps. Tesco meal deal was my weakness! I feel much better for it. Have joined a kickboxing class and working towards my first belt but also upping the strength training. I use Nutracheck to track my calories, protein and fibre and increasing both the latter has made a difference.

After looking into my family health history I’m also trying to “age better” to prepare for my life in my 70s, if I’m lucky enough to get that far.

I have considered collagen but there’s so many types and suppliers and when I started reading up and asking AI on it, it was one huge indecisive black hole I fell into! So would love to know if anyone takes both type 1 and 2 collagen and feels a difference.

nzeire · 15/04/2026 10:49

I did a programme a couple of years ago, it was a hard out month kickstart, then I managed it myself (without the online coach). The best thing I took away from the experience was the habit share app, listed everything… water on awakening, veges with every meal, protein goals, sleep habits, no alcohol, 10 mins meditation, extra movement, the list went on (a bit!) but it was great, i gleefully ticked off every night. Dropped 10 kgs in 3 months, and have now kept it off for 2 years….

however, I’m back to eating crap and not exercising, I look skinny fat. and old. And straggly.

so can I join in from nz?!

just did a Dennis gross peel and will get up early tomorrow to Dyson my hair.

back. In. The. Game

I have just got down to 62kg from 68kg this year.

I do movesmethod morning routine each morning to improve my flexibility and it has made me far less stiff throughout the day. It only takes 7 minutes but makes a huge difference. It is free on YouTube.

I walk around 8000-10000 steps a day and 40 mins is from an outdoor walk.

My next step is restarting weight lifting. I stopped to loose the weight as I find doing both tricky. I really wanted to get to 61kg then start so I might wait until then. I am 5 ft 6.

Good quality Dark chocolate stops my sugar cravings.

I intermittent fast - no food from 6pm to midday MOST days. On one weekend day I eat breakfast in the hope my body doesn’t think I’m starving it! It’s worked so far!

OP the same happened to me at the same age. I had always looked young and suddenly overnight looked older despite having always looked after my skin. I started treating myself to microdemobrasians and microneedling treatments. The difference was unreal after a few. If cost is an issue check your local college beauty department as the often offer them very cheap.

Fundays12 · 15/04/2026 11:03

I would like to join. I put on 18 pounds a year ago (mid 40s) and am struggling to shift it. I have started losing it now very slowly. I am spending more time on me. Making an appointment with myself to work out 3 times a week, to eat better, drink 2ltrs of water, exfoliate and moisturise my body more and get some nice face treatments as well as do them at home.

Icedcoffeeforme · 15/04/2026 11:11

I would like to join in. I’m turning 40 next month and would like to begin the next decade on the right track. I could do with losing a stone and doing regular exercise (a recent walk up a tor revealed how staggeringly unfit I am). I’d also like to focus on getting to sleep earlier, drinking more water and cutting out drinking wine at home. Plus fruit, veg and vitamins. I’d also like to try the foot treatment that’s been recommended! Lots to try and feeling inspired now. I’m 3 weeks into couch to 5k and I’m feeling good about that.

StillnessStill · 15/04/2026 11:48

Joining for some tips, clueless when it comes to skin care in particular.

@nzeire would you be willing to share the name of the habits app?

Sunshine1500 · 15/04/2026 11:55

Me too!
I’ve joined a gym but not really going enough, if anyone can recommend a good gym routine they stick too?
ive started taking collagen and vitamins this is definitely helping me. I’d recommend lions main and b vitamins, biotin and zinc have helped my hair.
skincare I start but don’t always commit. Can anyone recommend a good micro needling kit please? Oh and a led face mask!

Sunshine1500 · 15/04/2026 11:57

I do well over 10000 steps per day so eat whatever I want as I don’t need to watch my weight, but it’s slowly creeping up so I’m going to cut calories

MrsWhites · 15/04/2026 17:24

Welcome to all our newcomers, amazing to have so many of us here already!

I’m my own worse enemy, yesterday after reading on her I was adamant I would eat better today, drink 2L of water and get my steps in on my walk pad. In reality, I’ve eaten an Easter egg, a bowl of strawberries, 2 cans of Coke Zero and half a glass of water!

In my defence, I am super busy with work and I had a bit of an asthma attack this morning.

The only thing I seem to be sticking to is my vitamins and skin care.

Tomorrow I will absolutely drink more water!!

Sunshine1500 · 15/04/2026 17:35

I bought a big water bottle and keep it at my desk that helps me to drink water throughout the day as otherwise I don’t drink enough at work.

what kind of collagen are you taking? I can’t bear the thought of it tasting weird but the tablets look like a suppository for a horse!

I bought the nutrition geeks one which gets good reviews but it gave me terrible trapped wind type pains immediately afterwards. I am now taking type 2 capsules from Holland and Barrett but for joint pain.

I take a 10,000 mg collagen syrup, it’s sugar free but really sweet- just tastes like a shot of fruit syrup. I definitely notice a difference in my hair and skin but you do need a high dose regularly to get any effect really

I take the nutrition geeks one answer it's for barely any taste and it's super fine. I take it in juice or porridge.

Ooh yes please! I need this thread!

I had cancer 2024 and the last 2 years have kicked my arse. My medication means I’ve put on 3 stone and my hair fell out but not completely, so I looked like a scarecrow!

I have extensions and colour my hair every 6 weeks. Have lash extensions (those buggers thinned too) and have started getting my nails done with builder every 3 weeks.

Ive just bought the shark pro facial machine, and also microneedle with salmon sperm at home every 2 weeks as well.

need to concentrate on water intake, and am now on mounjourno so weight is slowly shifting. What skin care does everyone recommend? I’m using Noom currently through my Botox lady but it’s SO expensive and I’m not convinced theres not better products out there.

Hello
Firstly I’m glad to hear you’re doing better.
i put a thread up last week asking for micro needling recommendations but unfortunately got very few responses.
would you please let me know what you use, where you purchase porn and salmon sperm and how you’ve learned to micro needle.
Thanks so much

Justbreathagain · 15/04/2026 22:33

JazzyAmbs · 15/04/2026 22:59

Joining! Trying to lose weight amongst other things. I have bought those Davinia Taylor Willpowders, supposed to supress hunger can’t say they are although I quite like them. Not eating as much this week and it’s sooo hard. Considering getting something injected in my lines.

Travelfairy · 15/04/2026 23:19

Great thread! I recently got botox, not crazy on the results....probably wouldnt get crows feet area done again as its left me with a bit of a 'shelf' under my eyes.
In terms of top to toe glow up, how long have you got 😂😂
Hair-getting highlights last few months and really feel it gives my complexion a lift.
Face-getting eyebrows waxed and tinted next week along with fresh hair colour and nails done. Trying to get these fone semi regularly.
Weight! Need to lose some, starting Mounjaro this week, picking up pen tomorrow or Friday.
Eventually need to get something surgically done on tummy to repair a hernia and also fof aesthetic reasons. Would love a boob job tpp but they are all not in immediate future....
Re clothes, this week bit by bit I am having a massive clearcut and trying to edge towards a capsule wardrobe and have bought some new pieces to kick start a holiday capsule wardrobe. I have also invested in new skincare, an Irish brand called Nyrah. Loving it so far!
Oh and yes I need to start drinking water, I barely drink any at all 🙈
