Anyone interested in a glow-up support thread for tips and accountability?

Is anyone interested in a glow up support thread? I thought it might be nice to have somewhere to keep me accountable, share tips and things to avoid etc.

Glow up can be for any reason, summer, anti-aging, wedding etc?

I’m just about to turn 42, always looked young but in the past few years I have noticed age creeping up on me. I need to lose a bit of weight, need to improve tone and texture of my arms and legs. My face is dull and suffers with open pores so lots to work on for me 😂

Would love to hear from anyone else looking to work on their appearance too 👋

@Neuronimo I have the Laura Geller powder foundation, I like it. It is good for my oily skin, I like a very light coverage and it is great for that, especially in winter. I have both the medium and light depending on how tanned my face it.

I have tried some serum tints this summer and they are really good too. A tiny drop goes a long way. Ive been using the garnier wondertint 50 spf on hot sunny days and the ordinary serum foundation on other days. A drop on a nail palette then buffed onto the skin using a foundation brush. I'll add the powder foundation afterwards to "set" the base.

I'm happy with my progress, I have maintained my goal weight for 6m following a 6 stone loss over the last 3yrs. I'm enjoying eating whole foods and reducing UPFs.

Still at the gym 5x a week, it is weird that fitness has become my midlife crisis. After decades of actively avoiding exercise in every form, I'm loving lifting heavier each week and sweating on the treadmill before hitting the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The a full body scrub in the shower (that I don't have to clean), top to toe lotion and style my hair. Feels like a full spa experience most days. I feel odd on my rest days.

Speaking of spa days, had an incredible zero gravity float session and body massage last weekend. Wow, it was perfect, pricy but amazing.

My damage from my acrylic nails has now grown out and polish isn't cutting it, even with decent top coat they chip. I've switched to a home gel polish kit that is working well.

I need to keep up with my Lumea routine and get the last of those hairs gone.

I am wearing lighter amounts of make up these days too. Glad that the Laura Geller compact is good. It still hasn't arrived, but I'm looking forward to trying it. The wonder tint and Ordinary serum foundation sounds good too, I'll check those out. I have been experimenting with the Rimmel bronzing compact.

I think I shall invest in a Lumea next year, I have been managing with a flawless finishing touch, but it won't cut the mustard for much longer.

Fantastic news about maintaining your weight loss. I haven't lost as much as you, but it does give me hope. Exercise can be transformative can't it? I'm still working out at home, but considering a gym membership.

I have been keeping up with my body scrub for the most part, once a week. I haven't been so great with my teeth whitening though.

I have also been wearing less makeup, mainly stopped using powder, my skin feels so much better. The other day someone had commented on a picture on Facebook that I haven't aged at all, lies of course, but made me feel good in the moment!
I do need to do my self tanner again though, but I've not been feeling the best, so not felt up to doing it. On the plus side, I've been getting to bed earlier and getting more sleep!

It’s been a lovely summer but I am feeling the effects now. My healthy September begins today and I’d really like to get a few pounds off. I’m going a step challenge and will be keeping up with my gym and running. My diet needs a huge overall and alcohol needs to go!

glow up wise, I have purchased some tooth powder and even after one use yesterday I felt they looked brighter. I have fully stocked my vitamins and supplements and will be taking them daily including collagen.

i keep seeing an ad for a collagen peptide skin oil and I am tempted as my skin is just starting to look crepey but it’s quite pricey and it’s putting me off. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Neuronimo · 01/09/2026 11:08

I know that the effects collagen have been disputed by the science industry, but they really do make a difference to my skin and hair. They have been shown to help joints too I think.

I haven't tried a collagen oil, but the medicube pink peptide serum is fantastic. This summer has been a bit brutal for skin I should think.

Which tooth powder are you using please?

I am also interested in the collagen serum. I take the supplement every day and it’s made a massive difference to my nails and hair. I also think it’s helping with loose skin from weight loss. But really need to up my face game. Was thinking about tret - did the whole skin&me thing a few years ago which sorted my acne out, then I lost interest. Does anyone use tret - what’s the best way now? Just buying it from an online pharmacy or using a personalised subscription?

I use tret with renew and me, which I think is for older customers. It has made a fantastic difference. They have changed the formula recently to nightly active treatment. I reacted to it a bit, but it is now fine if I put some CereVe cream on twenty minutes after. In fact I think it is better in terms of results.

I didn’t get on with skin and me as it made me very sensitive to the sun.
the peptide oil I’ve seen is for body and it’s from a company called NordBody. I bit the bullet today and ordered it, it was expensive! I take a collagen 10,000mg syrup as well.
the tooth powder I bought is called my sweet smile, it was expensive (relatively) but it will last for ages as you literally dip your brush into it
