How much do you estimate the contents of your make up bag are worth?
Ive roughly added mine up and ive got it to £200

Thanks! I knew about the VB eyeliner but hadn’t heard anything about the mascara. The best mascara I’ve ever used was Tom Ford. Used to buy it on repeat but the price kept growing and come lockdown it didn’t seem worth it. I have an emergency Lancôme which has been surprisingly good, but I was planning to replace it with Gucci. May try the VB too.

Actually I use one skin thing - Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow. Discovered via a Cult Beauty free gift during lockdown - it worked like witchcraft on a Zoom screen. But it’s not so satisfactory off screen - and I have no idea what to replace it with.

Day to day bag- about £300.
The whole collection- fuck knows. Thousands, I suppose. Must stop buying make up!

Oh god, same, if a new foundation is out I have to try it

Cherrytree86 · 03/04/2026 18:21

does the Victoria beckham eyeliner smudge? I’ve heard it’s really soft and creamy so wondered if it might be prone to smudging/transferring?

Why do you need to know? It’s a waste apparently.

worldshottestmom · 03/04/2026 18:24

Probably worth more than my house tbh cringe

Makeup has a shelf life once you open it, usually six months or twelve months. This is because microorganisms from your skin will grow in it. There's a little picture of an open jar with 6M or 12M on the label somewhere to tell you the shelf life.

Your stuff from the 90s needs to go in the bin.

Nah, it's fine. The micro-organisms have grown up, got degrees, maxed out their pensions and died - they're not bothering me at all

Rockchick01 · 03/04/2026 18:38

zero 😂

booknerdhead · 03/04/2026 18:44

Love makeup and have lots, don’t know what it comes to, but I think makeup manufacturers have sold us the myth of having to regularly replace items purely to make more money.

What a waste! That money could be in your savings OP ready to contribute to your children’s university costs or a deposit for a house for them.

Mind your own business. People can spend their own money on themselves if they want.Even if op has children she will already have spent thousands on themselves over the years. Im sure they are capable of earning for themselves when adults.

Wow, that’s a fantastic collection. Lucky you. 😁

Would you mind telling me what brand the two palettes I’ve highlighted are? They’re exactly what I’m looking for. 😁

Hopefully MN will approve the image quickly. 🤞

I don’t dare. I’d hazard a guess at over £1k

This is just such an unnecessary comment!! 🙄

OP might have provided both! Mothers are allowed nice things too.

Sparklingwaterornothing · 03/04/2026 18:56

used to buy a lot of cheaper makeup - now I only buy expensive as I think it’s worth it! I notice I use less of it and application is easier as well as more enjoyable

currently have:
Gucci eyeshadows

Dior glow blush
Dior lip glow
Dior nail glow
pixie skin tint

I still use and refuse to upgrade on L’Oréal million lashes! Loved it for years ❤️

Hope op doesn't mind but while everyone is here. If you could pick just 1 premium item what would it be ?.

Armani Luminous silk foundation

OP posts:
mushmallow · 03/04/2026 19:06

I barely wear any as I don’t like the look of wearing a lot of makeup. Hate eyeshadow and lipsticks so…

benefit brow pencil £28
benefit mascara £28
rimmel bronzing stick £12
rimmel blush £8

Seems I’m cheap!

Keepgettingolder81 · 03/04/2026 19:08

About £350 in the bag. I don’t wear loads and am a Charlotte Tillbury devotee. I am blonde and pale with blue eyes and her make up really works for that tone.

also VB is really good for eye things.

PistachioTiramisu · 03/04/2026 19:16

I've got Chanel Blushers which looked gorgeous in the shop but have used just once because they don't suit me! What can I do with them - can't sell on ebay or Vinted. I spend a terrible amount on make up and still can't find a great foundation - have tried Clarins, Clinique, EL, Chanel, Dior, YSL but none seem to cater for my rosacea on nose and cheeks. Any suggestions, please?

MabelMoo23 · 03/04/2026 20:05

ANagsHead · 03/04/2026 16:44

@namethisbird - would you say each of those is the best of its kind? I’m not really interested in the skin stuff, just eyes and lips.

I’m awaiting delivery of a Westman Atelier Hydrobalm Tinted Lipstick - and am ridiculously excited to try it.

(I only ever own one of any make up item at a time and wait for it to run out before buying the next. I guess the make up bag total might be close to £200, plus a couple of Tom Ford make up brushes.)

I recently bought the WA Hydrobalm in English Rose and I absolutely love it. I’m now wearing it every day. So I’m a definite enabler. I’m a huge Westman Atelier fan

Someone on the Sali Hughes FB group will buy them.

the best primer I have ever used is the Iconic blurring primer, everything sits so well on top of it.
