How much do you estimate the contents of your make up bag are worth?
Ive roughly added mine up and ive got it to £200

Tortephant · 03/04/2026 12:22

EEK. Would rather not add that up! in foundation and tinted moisturiser I have £200ish

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/04/2026 12:26

In your actual collection or make up bag you use day to day?

OP posts:
ThatNattyPlayer · 03/04/2026 12:28

My collection is big as I used to work in that industry, probably thousands m.
basic make up bag is about £400-£450 depending on which lipstick I’m wearing

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/04/2026 12:32

£200 seems pretty good for premium makeup!

I buy relatively cheap make up and I reckon in my make up bag (which has a concealer, a foundation, and a couple each of mascaras, eye liners, lipsticks) there’s about £70/80 worth.

Boustany · 03/04/2026 12:38

Day to day bag- about £300.
The whole collection- fuck knows. Thousands, I suppose. Must stop buying make up!

audhdandme · 03/04/2026 12:40

I think mines probably about £350/300. I don’t wear a lot of makeup but most of what I buy is Dior. Lip combos are my guilty pleasure

I wear a mix of premium, mid and cheap, and my bag's probably no more than £120. But I've whittled it down a lot. Most expensive thing is Laura Mercier tinted sunblock. I have some Mario eye bits but my Panorama mascara is about £12. Works very well.

blankcanvas3 · 03/04/2026 12:48

My entire collection has got to be thousands which makes me feel a bit ill now I think about it. If I were to pack a makeup bag to take away with me, probably about £500.

MorePlantsYES · 03/04/2026 12:57

I only buy when there is 20% off but roughly this is the cost if full price. (I don't have much and tend to replace when empty.)

Bobbi Brown Foundation £43
Concealer £25 ish
Corrector £25-ish
Lipstick £35
Eye shadow, long last cream stick £28

Nars blusher £30-ish

Laura Mercier powder £35

Loreal Panorama mascara £12
Loreal eye pencil - £cheap

Clinique lipstick £25-ish

Elf lip liner - £3

What a waste! That money could be in your savings OP ready to contribute to your children’s university costs or a deposit for a house for them.

They might not have or want children 🙄. People can spend their own money on what they want to.

Bopabopstomp · 03/04/2026 13:06

Total about £200 for a normal day with no eyeshadow, primer or colour corrector.

Dr13Hadley · 03/04/2026 13:20

I’d hate to think and now I’ve just had to fork out for a load of hypoallergenic eye makeup as my eyelids are having a tantrum and have developed allergic contact dermatitis to all my other makeup (which has previously been fine).

fairylightsanon · 03/04/2026 13:27

Collection or bag? I took a photo of my eyeshadow palettes and it’s horrifying but I’ve been collecting a long time

fairylightsanon · 03/04/2026 13:32

Not entirely sure I should add it up but that’s eyeshadows only

Day to day. Some days in use 1 foundation other days I mix tinted with foundation. Some days I mix two shades of foundation etc Depends what I’m doing, what my skin feels or looks like.

I’m at the moment I have two Ilia skin tints mixed and used most days, a Lisa Eldridge TM occasional use and won’t repurchase, Westman Atelier skin drops on most day use (moving to this from Ilia as better colour match). Lisa Eldridge foundation and Rare foundation.

They've had both in my case.

It's not always 'either or'.

You only have two eyes! Surely some of that will go off?

Powders are usually ok for a lot longer than stuff like mascara or foundation. I’ve never had an eyeshadow go off. People know I like makeup so I get a lot is gifts and some is also PR gifts

Powder eyeshadow can get bacteria in it because your make up brushes are on your eyelids, then in the shadows and you're adding bacteria each time.
I think I read that the 'life' of eyeshadow is around a year or maybe 2.
