The perfect travel jumpsuit?

ChaoticNeutralMum · 08/03/2026 07:46

Morning! Just booked our summer holiday and with the miserable weather I’m already daydreaming about the airport.

Tenerife in August with DP, 18m old and 6yr old, so comfort is key as the toddler will almost certainly spend half the time climbing on me.

I love jumpsuits as they’re so easy and can feel put together with little effort, but Ive never travelled in one.

I’m thinking something lightweight, elasticated waist maybe with loose legs. I’m 5’1 so ideally cuffed ankles as otherwise things trail unless specifically petite/short or I snip fabric off the end 😅

I’m currently around a UK 12/14 with a big bust, so ideally something forgiving at the top. I’m also hoping to lose a bit of weight by August 🤞so something with a bit of flexibility in sizing would be a massive bonus. One of our flights is an ungodly hr too so im thinking about how to go from cool to hot in the same outfit.

What do we think?

Any recommendations very welcome.

Thank you

@mrschocolatte Im flying on Monday and will now change my outfit choice to a jumpsuit in honour of this thread.

Tonissister · 10/03/2026 07:30

Why not get co-ords for travel days and jumpsuit for holiday? Easier said than done holding all that extra fabric away from other people's splashed wee in cramped filthy conditions. I wouldn't.

Yes, I don't understand how a matching elastic waisted top and trackies combo wouldn't be equally comfortable but more versatile.

LoveHearts69 · 10/03/2026 08:15

I always wear a loose fit jumpsuit on a plane! Usually a strapless one and I cover myself with a denim shirt or zip up hoodie over the top depending on the weather! I don’t need to pee every 5 mins so the toilet isn’t a massive problem for me. 🤣 I got some on vinted but H&M has previously been quite good for comfy material ones.

gbpaln · 10/03/2026 08:27

I love a jumpsuit for a flight as no cold back of anything riding up if I fall asleep. Have a couple of Hush ones from Vinted. Jersey fabric, vest top style, elasticated waist and a great length (Im 5ft 1). Have one in navy and one in an army green. Wear something over the top this end and shove into carry on when landing in the heat. Have added link below of their current one.

A jumpsuit would be perfect. I got two from fat face via eBay this week I've even worn them to festivals where the loos get tricky. I've never been in a plane loo that wasn't spotless

I fly monthly - you have been very lucky! 🤮

BigGra · 10/03/2026 09:46

OhDear111 · 09/03/2026 15:46

I guess those of us who fly know what a hassle the loos can be. The op is wrapped up in her issues so isn’t open to other ideas. So why bother asking really. Somewhat pointless when she’s stuck in her opinion and everyone else is wrong.

I fly regularly, including long haul, in a jumpsuit.

What do you mean by ‘ why bother asking ? ‘

The OP specifically asked for recommendations that I and many others have given her - the entire point of this board.

Why are you posting unhelpful shit ?

AlannaOfTrebond · 10/03/2026 10:07

If you don't like things constricting your waist it might be worth looking at Boody for jumpsuits. No elasticated waist and incredibly soft fabric.

I have the cropped v neck and it is the most comfortable thing I've ever worn.

SurferRona · 10/03/2026 10:15

1st and 2nd post nails it.

Are you mad OP? Travel jumpsuit 🤢🤮. There is a reason that isn’t a ‘thing’.

If you like the look, get a pair of loose drawstring trousers and matching top- looks like a jumpsuit but hygienic. If I saw a mum with baby travelling in a jumpsuit I would be 😳🫣👀👀 at those hems…. Also wondering why she was wearing toddler wear to match her toddler. CBeebies presenter is not a good look!

bikiniwaxlyrical · 10/03/2026 10:29

I have this in navy and black. Very comfortable.

loveawineloveacrisp · 10/03/2026 10:49

Some people on this thread need to fuck all the way off. I've never seen so many people completely miss the point of the OP.

Ohmygeorgey · 10/03/2026 11:27

This thread is a prime example of why asking for suggestions on this board is so frustrating. So many people ignoring the OP's clear requirements and what she has said she's happy with, and tells her to wear something she's already stated (more than once) she doesn't feel comfortable in.

FWIW, I am one of those that for some reasons struggles to hold all my fabric off the floor when I pee so I would not wear a jump suit when flying, but I'm not going to tell the OP she's wrong because she's fine with that. Super annoying.

I'm still following because I'd love to find a comfy, day to day jumpsuit for the warmer months so these links are good!

Edited

Weird how you edited your post just to be a bit more rude than you had originally been.

You need to think about the toilet situation on a plane/public loo

I don't think I've ever needed to use the loo on a short haul flight. OP might be the same.

Agreed. A jumpsuit is not a big deal for many, I can wear one easily.

BoudiccaRuled · 10/03/2026 14:46

When the toddler is sick on you mid journey you can't just change your top though. You'd have to go through gymnastics of changing your entire outfit in a cramped space. Separates all the way!

I ordered the playsuit version of this last year and it was flippin tiny. It had to go back.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/03/2026 10:44

I ordered this, the Explorer, when someone posted it on this thread on Monday (it was £42 then too). It's just arrived, I tried it on straight away. It looks and feels AMAZING.

I've been feeling a bit fat and frumpy with my extra perimenopausal stone (and a bit) and this restores my confidence. I look ready for ANYTHING (like Anneka Rice, in a good way!)

I will DEFINITELY be wearing it on my next plane journey, in honour of @ChaoticNeutralMum.

(I also ordered the Gaia, because it was irresistible at just £30. I'm keeping that too - maybe just for my pilates class, or maybe for general arse kicking purposes - I feel like a Mumsnet ninja in both this and the Explorer! Of all the clothing, plane toilet plus jumpsuit does not scream comfortable and practical to me 😂

Just what I was going to say. Utterly impractical, IMO.
