The perfect travel jumpsuit?

Morning! Just booked our summer holiday and with the miserable weather I’m already daydreaming about the airport.

Tenerife in August with DP, 18m old and 6yr old, so comfort is key as the toddler will almost certainly spend half the time climbing on me.

I love jumpsuits as they’re so easy and can feel put together with little effort, but Ive never travelled in one.

I’m thinking something lightweight, elasticated waist maybe with loose legs. I’m 5’1 so ideally cuffed ankles as otherwise things trail unless specifically petite/short or I snip fabric off the end 😅

I’m currently around a UK 12/14 with a big bust, so ideally something forgiving at the top. I’m also hoping to lose a bit of weight by August 🤞so something with a bit of flexibility in sizing would be a massive bonus. One of our flights is an ungodly hr too so im thinking about how to go from cool to hot in the same outfit.

What do we think?

Any recommendations very welcome.

Thank you

Have you thought about dungarees with a long/short sleeved t shirt underneath that you can remove when you get to warmer climes?

Satsuma55 · 08/03/2026 15:49

I've got this in a few colours, I'm mad for a jumpsuit, and this is really flattering and good quality for the price, can't post a live link. It's from Cider.

I'm obsessed with the Patagonia Fleetwith jumpsuit. https://www.bergzeit.co.uk/p/patagonia-womens-fleetwith-jumpsuit/1123328/?srsltid=AfmBOopMNng6n0dfHmslj7T8NDIYaqvWXHktbx8Ts5xLVshUuxSI4vDZ

It's super comfy, lightweight, easy on and off and I find it easy to slip the top part on and off to go to the loo without it getting on the floor. It dries really quickly as well and is very flattering.

I think Patagonia may have discontinued it (tragically) and replaced it with the Terrabone jumpsuit, but third party sellers still carry it.

You need to think about the toilet situation on a plane/public loo

I was about to say the exact same. Many years ago, my very stylish mum travelled to the US in a crisp lemon cotton jumpsuit, then spent 20 minutes in the plane loo trying to wash and dry it as she'd managed to wee all over one sleeve 🤣

holidayonkirrinisland · 08/03/2026 17:02

A stylish friend of mine recently wore a denim jumpsuit, and she looked so good in it.
I knew if I tried it, I'd look like I'd come to fix the washing machine.

tutugogo · 08/03/2026 17:07

Dresses are far better for the plane, in august weather could be similar in the uk, if not I slip leggings on under my dress, (especially on longer flights at ungodly hours) jersey is forgiving if you change size, v neck better with bigger busts, choose a mottled print so inevitable stains from little hands don’t show as much. Glad you have lots of help

WineBeforeWhine · 08/03/2026 17:09

Trouble with jumpsuits when you go to a public toilet it ends up on the floor and then you have to put it up near your head again so no thanks. Dress or skirt is much better or practical.

OhDear111 · 08/03/2026 17:09

Depends what the floor of the loos are like in the aircraft! Cotton trousers and top for me. Quick change in hand luggage if needed. One lot of food going over you and jump suit is toast. Just too awkward for flying. Separates all the way!

AlbieJiggered · 08/03/2026 17:18

There's a reason why that has been reduced to less than half-price. It looks terrible on the model.

@Satsuma55 what is the sizing like on that Cider jumpsuit? Thanks!

I would definitely consider this.

This

I’m a big jumpsuit fan, found what I thought was the perfect comfy and stylish travel jumpsuit, wore it once and realise no one should ever travel in a jumpsuit so back to elasticated trousers and a jumper.

Daisyhon · 08/03/2026 18:20

I’ve only ever worn one on a night out , the undoing & pulling the top bit down when going for a pee was so annoying to me although I do love the way they they look . I don’t think they are practical for travelling , better with jogging bottoms or leggings & a hoodie ( not the most glam but at least u will be comfy )

Someone is selling on ebay for £32.

BookedNoRefund · 08/03/2026 19:25

General jumpsuit query. What happens if you need to scratch your lower back. I would feel extremely claustrophobic and probably tear the fabric trying to get at the itch!

Very envious of these people who don’t need to go to the toilet for a plane flight. Even the 13 to 16 hour ones?!

Haven't read past this post as jumpsuits and travel say to me disaster in plane toilet!

You need to be able to get in and out of there as quickly as possible with minimal contact between the fabric and any surface within that small, unpleasant and sometimes wet space!

Halara have some jumpsuits which you can got to the toilet in, without them trailing on the floor? I’ve not tried them but I do have the wide leg jeans and I usually travel in them, super comfy.

Peony1985 · 08/03/2026 21:38

I love a jumpsuit and they are great on holiday.

However I wouldn't wear one on the plane because if it fails that's your whole outfit fucked. A stretched bottom half , broken top half because of sitting down on the bottom half too quickly, spilt food, cut in half reaching for the over head lockers . Nope.

edwardscissorpaws · 08/03/2026 23:42

I have the Sweaty Betty explorer jumpsuit. It's light and flattering! Perfect to travel in!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 09/03/2026 01:07

I have a Spanx jumpsuit. The back fabric isn’t attached at the waistband, so you can pull the trousers down to sit on the toilet

CosyBungalow · 09/03/2026 07:32

I have 2 jumpsuits from Boody, like @nothingeverhappensinstmarymead. I have the 3/4 leg one with a V neck, and the longer leg / boat neck one.
To fly I've worn tge 3/4 leg one with a denim jacket. The toilets on the plane had a hook on the door to hang my jacket, and like any other trousers/jeans, I was more than capable of keeping them off the floor!.
They're both a flattering fit, and comfy to fly in..... If you want a jumpsuit, get one - im sure you'll wear it lots, even if you do decide flying in one isn't for you.
