The perfect travel jumpsuit?

Morning! Just booked our summer holiday and with the miserable weather I’m already daydreaming about the airport.

Tenerife in August with DP, 18m old and 6yr old, so comfort is key as the toddler will almost certainly spend half the time climbing on me.

I love jumpsuits as they’re so easy and can feel put together with little effort, but Ive never travelled in one.

I’m thinking something lightweight, elasticated waist maybe with loose legs. I’m 5’1 so ideally cuffed ankles as otherwise things trail unless specifically petite/short or I snip fabric off the end 😅

I’m currently around a UK 12/14 with a big bust, so ideally something forgiving at the top. I’m also hoping to lose a bit of weight by August 🤞so something with a bit of flexibility in sizing would be a massive bonus. One of our flights is an ungodly hr too so im thinking about how to go from cool to hot in the same outfit.

What do we think?

Any recommendations very welcome.

Thank you

Halara have a jumpsuit which they advertise as being easy to go to the loo in. I bought one, it's really comfortable and actually very easy to go to the toilet in, nothing falls to the floor

They look great, thanks!

A jumpsuit would be perfect. I got two from fat face via eBay this week I've even worn them to festivals where the loos get tricky. I've never been in a plane loo that wasn't spotless

StormInaDcup99 · 08/03/2026 09:35

Kea design jump suits are bathroom friendly ie you they are open at the back waist so easy to pull down

The below shop is near where I live. This is last years design but no doubt they have a new range this year. They do post parcels

A lot of jumpsuits are v neck, with your age of kids I’d just be a bit careful you don’t wear something where you could pop out on top (just a warning as I remember it happening to me!!)

No. Public toilets, yuk.

"Travel jumpsuit" makes me think of Anneka Rice climbing in and out of helicopters in her fetching number.

Owly11 · 08/03/2026 10:01

Oh my goodness I cannot imagine a worse item of clothing to travel in! What if you get cold in the air conditioning and have to wear a cardigan that you have to keep taking off to go to the toilet? Not to mention the full undress that will be required in a tiny dirty toilet. It's the last thing I would think of!

Itsnotalwaysasyouthink · 08/03/2026 10:11

I travel a lot and would not wear a jumpsuit on a plane, mostly because it’s difficult to layer. There’s no where to put your top in the loo when you have to get undressed to go. I would wear something like this

with the top shown-also prevents a climbing toddler from pulling your top down.

I have something like this and it just doesn’t look good on me. I also hate it digging into my waist.

Ok thank you for the input on toilets, ladies. Your points have been taken on board.

I, and clearly a number of other posters, seem to manage to navigate them just fine without getting them covered in piss though, it must be a skill. I think picking the right style is key, hence the actual point of the post.

I’ve appreciated some of the helpful posts on actual designs. The easy peezy ones are interesting. Will look further into that. Thank you

Classic Mumsnet, OP asks for recommendations for a jumpsuit and instead she gets a pile on of people saying 'Why on earth would you wear a jumpsuit, wear this instead!' OP for what it's worth I've worn a jumpsuit on a plane with absolutely no issues. Sweaty Betty have some lovely ones

You need the Hush stretchy one. I regularly travel in mine.

Was just going to say the same, I have 2 Hush ones and have often worn them to travel in as they are so comfy.

Why are people so obsessed with plane toilets? It’s a short flight, just go before you board. Hope you find a nice jumpsuit, have a lovely holiday.

owlpassport · 08/03/2026 10:34

Apart from the fact that I agree with the majority that jumpsuits and plane/airport toilets don't mix, the jumpsuits posted here aren't particularly nice and definitely wouldn't look put together.

I'd suggest a vest top and elasticated linen trousers, something like

ETA - I hadn't refreshed, so the Sweaty Betty one is okay apart from the fact it's plastic. You could get a similar look with (cotton) t-shirt and joggers.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 08/03/2026 10:36

Halara do lovely jumpsuits.

I really couldn’t wear one on a plane though, the thought of having to strip off and hold my clothes up in a small loo is not for me.

Yes it’s only a 4 or 4.5 hour flight but that’s at least one wee for me as a menopausal woman.

I like linen mix elasticated waist trousers and a t shirt. They crease but not as much as pure linen.

When you take it down or indeed have to take it off, it will likely sit in a pool of other people’s piss on the floor.

Why would she be taking it off in the plane toilet??

everyone on here is being a bit ridiculous. Going to the toilet and holding around your thighs is easy enough if is a stretchy one!

BeWildPearlFish · 08/03/2026 10:48

I'm sure I'll be jumped on for this but I have 2 from Shein that are exactly what you described (I'm also 5 ft 1, 12-14 and very blessed in the bra dept).

They're cuffed at the ankles, drawstring waist and I've worn on nights out as well as casual day drinks. Look great with trainers.

Little chuckle at getting stark bollock naked inside an airplane toilet just to have a wee 😂

Ooh this sounds promising 👀 I’ve never shopped from Shein. Do you happen to have a link to yours please?

I wear jumpsuits to travel in I’ve got some from Hush and Sweaty Betty, shove a cardi or jumper on top and a pair of trainers and I’m good to go! I also have IBS and have 🤞🏻always managed to get to the toilet!

With getting on and off it could easily be well over 5 hours on the plane.

Plenty of people would need to go to the toilet at least once in that time. Plus you don't want to be getting off the plane needing the toilet straight away because that means you'll be at the back of the queue for passport control.

It's obvious that many of us would find a jumpsuit inconvenient for travelling, especially on aeroplanes. It can be a real inconvenience.
