I’m usually more of a lurker than a poster but I agree Sophie does some great, and often under the radar, work on sexual and gender based violence.
There are some lovely photos of her on this particular trip and, whilst I’m not a fan of busy patterns, that blue dress does suit her, it looks both comfortable and appropriate for the location and occasion. I don’t think it is shown in the above pic but she accessorised it with a lovely plain mustard coloured scarf/shawl.

Good points, @IAmATorturedPoet

Some more pictures of Sophie from her trip!
love the looks of all the ladies!

Appropriate and ready to adapt eg if head needs to be covered. I lived for years in the ME ( I know this is not the ME) and a scarf of this kind used to be carried everywhere.

Shoes are difficult with trousers I think - it can make or break the outfit. Eg

Found you all, another mostly lurker and occasional commenter here. Thanks @Maireas and all the knowledgeable regulars who are teaching me much about fashion and more importantly royal bling.

Looking forward to reading about you opinions on the thread.

Sorry to hear some of you are having a difficult time 💐

Maireas · 26/02/2026 11:41

Lovely to see you, @FallenNight

Thank you for the pictures. I do love prints, layering prints and colours that stand out, so for me, Sophie always looks really interesting in whatever she's wearing for her choices of colour and print alone, even if the garment is not something I would personally wear. And somehow, her clothing choices never overshadow the (excellent) work she does, and she always looks at ease. It's a real shame the press coverage for her is so limited. I occasionally watch the DM channel, and they are always saying on there that Sophie's the unsung star of the RF. Well sing, then, DM!!

Maireas · 26/02/2026 12:00

I like the fact that Sophie does try to mix it up, she likes colour, textures and patterns. I often think that travelling to Kenya, Somalia and Sudan, she'll be meeting women who dress with colours, and that's a good thing. Although she's not exactly toiling in the midday sun, staying smart and professional looking in the heat is something I admire.

That was like a puzzle as I wondered if I was suppose to recognise the legs!

I now see it’s Meghan’s latest Jordan outfit. I like the cape type jacket but paired with wide trousers adds a lot of bulk to her shape. Slim cigarette trousers would have worked better.

I'm a huge Sophie fan. Apparently she was visiting one of the satellite areas of my workplace and got trapped in a lift with local ambassadors who were ferrying her around - one of whom was claustrophobic. She was lovely and really kind to him - and they were all rescued in the end. A brief blip in a new building.

Halphabetty · 26/02/2026 12:05

I'm also Sophie's vintage and we have much the same build so I think I relate more in terms of fashion.

I'm a huge Chanel fan, but I've found a pair of Chanel shoes I don't like! I like the cape type jacket, it looks great, but not the colour though.

I think that shade of brown (trousers at the football/hospital) is a really poor colour for Meghan. She suits winter colours with a blue base.

I follow a few colour analysts on Instagram who actually say the opposite - that she's a dark autumn and suits warmer shades but in deeper colours.

She once wore a cobalt blue Givenchy two piece which was very simple, but absolutely stunning. I think burgundy and deep green look good on her too, but also that bright strong yellow.

I know but I think they're wrong. I'm dark autumn and I think she's dark winter - the two are very very close. She does look stunning in cobalt blue whereas I look stunning 😁 okay in marine navy (warmer blue)

Case in point - the trousers are absolutely awful. They have swamped her. I don’t mind the shoes, and would have looked a whole better with a slimmer pant.

Eaumyword · 26/02/2026 12:52

Hello all!👐
Agree, the cape is actually really nice, but the bottom half is just no. Wrong shoes, trousers good but too wide, definitely need a slimmer silhouette to balance the cape.

I get that baggier trousers are very much in now, but unless you’re taller, or wear them well tailored with a slimmer fit top half.

The other more on trend option of trousers would be a kick/bootflare. But then the shoes would have to go.

Actually scrap the kick/bootflare. I’d struggle to carry that off and I’m 5’7 😂

Any LK BENNETT fans I've had a closing down sale e mail this morning.

FallenNight · 26/02/2026 13:23

I love a bootcut jean and I am 4ft 11.....now worried I might be carrying out a massive fashion faux pas.

HollyhockDays · 26/02/2026 13:29

I love the cape coat (Zara) but loathe that trouser / shoe combo.
