Welcome to style mavens old and new to continue our chats.
Hopefully more bling if there's another banquet on the horizon?

I love this navy look, buttons and all, and the shoes are just what Catherine would wear. I think she looks stunning.

HollyhockDays · 14/04/2026 09:03

The navy dress fits well but I hate those gold buttons.

Not sure about this brown outfit. But I hate brown clothes!

Navy outfit is elegant. Brown outfit …how can that possibly be worn by the same person?!

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/04/2026 09:09

The brown one also makes her look at least a decade older, IMO.

Maireas · 14/04/2026 09:09

I don't like brown clothes either, and they do nothing for Meghan. I think the pencil skirt would be ok with perhaps a burgundy blouse, something more striking.

Maybe it's the heavy jumper?

ExcellentDaydream · 14/04/2026 09:13

Despite being a hater of brass buttons I like the navy, it fits well, colour suits her, it hangs well etc. Not keen on the brown, it might be the poor lighting but I don't think it suits her colouring, more like something Sophie could wear colour-wise.

Speaking of which here is Sophie in blue, I like the colour but think it's a little too dark for her and drains her colour a bit, hard to see fit and hanging because of the wind. Brown shoes don't go very well either. Her hair looks nice.

I like Sophie's dress, it's a strong colour, but the pattern is muted. I think it would suit Meghan, actually.

I hate when monochrome clashes so violently. It's difficult to get matching shades.

ExcellentDaydream · 14/04/2026 09:19

I'd like to see a better photo of Sophie in that dress (couldn't find one), I really like the colour and it does look as though it will drape nicely.

Sidebeforeself · 14/04/2026 09:21

I like Sophie’s dress. Colour is lovely. But is that brown shoes and black handbag?

This navy dress looks good on Meghan. I definitely prefer it to the chartreuse one.

It's a lovely dress and fits perfectly. Australian designer too

corblimeyguvnr · 14/04/2026 09:59

Meghan wore the dress differently from the designer's image where the long belt is a feature at the front. She has it at the back .

I actually really like all pieces of Meghan's brown outfit...just none of them worn together as they are!😆
Quite like the navy dress.
Sophie looks frumpy there, sorry to say as I think she's great. She has a fab figure and is a pretty woman, but is dressing older than her years here.
The Euro royals (bar a few mad outfits!) do royal engagement dressing better.

Maireas · 14/04/2026 10:30

How is that dress "frumpy" or "older than her years", @Eaumyword ?

OP posts:
Eaumyword · 14/04/2026 10:32

Forgot to add Meghan's chartreuse dress was awful. Crumpled, too much detail going on, gaping, too shiny and cheap looking - I think her most flattering looks are more form fitting and a brighter block colour (the red, the yellow, the turquoise dresses from the past.)
The chartreuse was a good colour on her, think everything else going on with the dress was the problem.

justasking111 · 14/04/2026 10:35

The suede jacket is bad, but in the sleeveless polo and column skirt she looks good.

Just my opinion of course, but Sophie's dress has a high bow, long puff sleeves, shoes and bag not quite right with the outfit. Felt a bit 1970's to me.
I think she looks stunning in simpler silhouettes - she can really rock a long skirt with smart boots!
Maybe it's because it was windy, I just think she usually looks better.

themessygarden · 14/04/2026 10:38

I love that navy dress, classy, well made and fits her.

edited to add, having seen that ‘tail’ she made out of the belt, I have to rethink the ‘classy’.

Yes. "Frumpy" is a funny word.

I think she looks good in column skirts and high necks. For me, it's mainly the shades of brown that I don't like.

I think if Meghan had a pussybow blouse with full sleeves made in that chartreuse colour it would look stunning ( just a suggestion Megs if you are reading this!)

Showing my age @Maireas 😆
Was a common word round my way many years ago! Ooh, bit frumpy that blouse!
Same as 'county' (in hushed tones) was a good thing!😆

Apparently it's khaki, which I loathe and look an absolute bugger in
