It’s lovely. I’d just say that MOTB dresses tend to be worn once, and a lot of people buy multiple dresses before deciding on one. Vinted and eBay are awash with BNWT dresses, I bought and sold mine for a small fraction of the new price!

Gosh so many replies!

My wondeful daughter is happy for me to wear whatever I feel comfortable in. The bridesmaids are in green. I suit dark colours, anything pale makes me look washed out. I really don't like bright colours. I have not mentioned my shoe size at all! I am now very confused as to what colour shoes and bag to choose, but they definitely won't be nude or gold!

Edited to add - I hoped that asking outside of my circle would give me a more balanced view of the suitability of the dress. I'm more confused than I was before!

Are all dressy shoes pointed these days (shudder)?

I hope not. I’m going to be a MOB later this year and I don’t like pointed toed shoes.I also can’t wear too high a heel.

Honestly the dress is great, don’t over think it.

thanks OP. Some of the replies are a bit odd, then, making assumptions about your daughter and shoe size!!!
The dress will go beautifully with the green bridesmaids dresses. Order it and try it. I think it’s a lovely choice.

Can I wear this to a wedding? I’m under 35, short and size 12… it’s so lovely!

CoastalCalm · 01/02/2026 11:53

It’s beautiful , very classy

Hiphipholiday · 01/02/2026 11:59

It’s the most pro the dress posts I’ve ever seen on here Op. Get the dress and you can play around with accessories.

PinterandPirandello · 01/02/2026 12:02

I would also consider picking out a colour from the dress for shoes/bag. It needs a pop of a stronger colour to brighten the whole outfit. Nice dress though.

CurlewKate · 01/02/2026 12:02

Haven’t shopped at Hobbs for a decade! Are they true to size? I seem to remember that they used to come up big…

Thank you all so much for the reassurance. Its a late spring wedding. Could I wear navy shoes and have a different colour bag? Would that look odd?

No, this would not look odd. Pick a bag that mirrors some of the dress’s other colours. A light green or purple would be nice :)

Yes, of course you can!! :)

heels might help with being short but the waist placement should work with flats as well (might even elongate your legs optically).

if midi skirts tend to cut you off at the “wrong point”, I’d probably go for heels.

Fodencat · 01/02/2026 12:11

I love it. Wish my son would hurry up and get married so I can wear it 🤣

It's a gorgeous dress. I would do green accessories to tone (not match) with the bridesmaids.
One tip from my mum, don't wear a wide brimmed hat, it gets in the way if you are a hugger! As MoB I would definitely have something on my head or in my hair.

HarshbutTrue2 · 01/02/2026 12:48

If you live near a hobbs shop the shop assistants are lovely . They will help you choose bag, shoes, fascinator to match the dress. Hobbs have comfortable shoes with mid heel heights and flats. There is no pressure to buy. You can order online and try on instore- send it back if you don't like it. If you are medium height or less, most dresses come in petite. Again, Hobbs assistants will advise. They check the fitting across shoulders etc.
My local hobbs has a very limited petite rail, it is useful for getting an idea about sizing before ordering online.

I’m not loving the sparkly buckle but I do like the green velvet

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 01/02/2026 13:01

It's very pretty

RampantIvy · 01/02/2026 13:19

I had no idea that navy shoes were considered "dated" 😟

I have some really pretty navy shoes suitable for formal occasions, no doubt they would be considered dated, but they go with all my clothes, and I never buy clothes and shoes only suitable for one occasion. I always buy with a view of wearing something more than once.

Sahara123 · 01/02/2026 13:21

Oh that’s lovely and exactly what I thought I’d wear if my daughter and her fiance ever get round to it! I shall save it just in case !

stillawip · 01/02/2026 13:24

Yes of course you can have a different colour bag - that would actually be lovely & less ‘matchy-matchy’. You will look beautiful 🥰

sprigatito · 01/02/2026 13:34

It’s absolutely gorgeous! Silk will flow beautifully and feel wonderful as well.

I would go for silver shoes, bag in the green that’s on the dress (I’d have a bit of beading or sparkle on the bag) and a floral fascinator with the pink from the dress and a bit of green similar to the bag, and silver jewellery. But I am not fashion-competent and am definitely guilty of “matchy-matchy” 😂
