I seem to be in the minority, but I'm actually happy with today's. I don't get the BD anymore though so I haven't tried this before, and it sounds like a good fit for me.

keepincool · 21/12/2025 09:45

Today's is my 2nd dod, as I think I have another 2 of these already from BD and an edit. I think a travel size Davines OI All in One Milk would have been better if it had to be a hair product (the AiOM doesn't smell of curry 😄)

I'm sorry quite a few people are disappointed with the calendar, especially if it has been better curated in previous years. It's my first Liberty BAC and I've liked it. I've only had one luxury one before - a Fortnum & Mason one which was gifted to me last year (I loved that one).

I won't get Liberty next year as I want to try different ones, but I will probably stick with BD so that I can purchase some edits next year.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day 🤞

H3lloMums · 21/12/2025 10:09

There's a couple items that have come in the BD that I have to admit is a bit disappointing to receive again even if I liked them - so when curating the box they should consider that. Samples are also unacceptable although I have looked and 16 of the 21 so far have been full size!. The only disappointment for me so far is skincare or make up is more exciting than hair care and I think they haven't quite considered the opening order esp as some of those items have been the samples/trial size. It's my first Liberty calendar with high expectations so although I am overall happy there is a little niggle and to hear that they've been better in the past isn't great.

redluckycat · 21/12/2025 10:17

This morning I put the elasticizer on before enjoying an unheard of morning bath! I think I’m going to keep it on for a few hours.

Primrosespaw · 21/12/2025 10:20

This is my first BAC and saved via beauty drop. I have really loved the experience. I bought this one after much careful research and unboxing videos. I love perfume and haircare, so very happy. I knew which products I would gift to mum such as the Emma serum, eye liner and Bibbi and also filled up boxes with extra stuff from Liberty BD and GWP, sets for mum so she would be able to share in the experience, it has been a little thrill of excitment for us, especially as she has been ill. The presentation is stunning and as a huge liberty fan for beauty home wear and fabric, the 150th year feels special. Yesterday I used the curry shampoo after the PK, conditioner then argan serum. Hair felt the best in ages.
Particular loves so far
Zepherine, The Sixth, Granado, I dont know what perfume
All the skin are apart from Emma serum due to skin sensitivity with some of the ingredients and fragrance she uses. MZ skin. Love!
All the haircare. Curry shampoo not the culprit of allergy as tried it again.
Trinny, lovely on cheeks.
Verden. Blessed sleep!
And still a few days to go. Its been a great little treat before I trot off to school everyday which is so hard by the end of this long term, although the kids are always fab.
Customer service was wonderful over the mascara and sent a beautifully worded email before the replacement promptly arrived. Liberty remains my breakfast at Tiffany's place.

Sorry I meant yesterday!!!
This morning Ive had breakfast and been on here /: now Im going shopping: Hope you feel better soon, hydrate xx
Oh also as you are the brains behind the beauty, is it OK to use the Luna oil at night and the Paulas choice acidy poor cleanser (little bottle from last year I think) on the same day? Thanks!

lol. Now I feel better 😂

Paula’s choice is an acid toner which should be used after cleansing. Then apply your treat product. It reduces visible pores, and is also a surface exfoliant. The blue Luna oil is also a pore reducer but is a treat step (and a moisturising effect all in one )as it has a retinol in it. So they won’t compete but it might be overloading for the skin. Personally, I’d switch up the PC to your morning routine - (but build up tolerance by using twice week at first) and save the blue Luna for your evening routine. It’ll have the same effect but will be more economical. Make sure you use an SPF with both.

Edited to correct spelling mistakes!

redluckycat · 21/12/2025 08:56

This is probably why I’m really happy with it - I’ve never had a beauty box, so it’s all new to me (apart from Dermalogica and PK).

Looking at Space NK that I mentioned above, that seems to have a lot of small sizes too (apart from a shower oil, moisturiser, a The Ordinary product - definitely not luxury - and a setting spray which is not something I’d ever use).

Edited

Setting sprays are a game changer for old birds like me. Stops my mascara sliding down my eye bags 😂

Do you dampen your hair before putting it on? Planning on using it today too!

I normally only wear waterproof mascara!

Yes I soaked my hair with water first. We have one of those shower attachment things attached to the taps of the bath, as well as a normal shower, so it’s easy to wet hair when needed/ wash hair out of the shower - I can just lean over the bath.

So do I. My eye bags are massive though 😂

I think today's item is disappointing too. I think it's poor curation to include anything that's already been in a beauty drop, it's not too big a stretch of the imagination to realise that there'll be a big overlap in customers for the beauty drop and the calendar.

There needs to be a laughing emogi ! Have you tried tubing mascara, its been a game changer over the years for me: VB is great, I started with Kanebo Sensai and theyve brought out a new one a year or two ago, lengthening and volumising, which is lovely too: Expensive but both last ages

I’m just getting through a CT one (in the glass bottle) which I think might be one? And have a VB one to open next. Still comes off on my bottom lashes though and I look naked without mascara on the bottom ones unless I use a setting spray.

the VB foundation is amazing tho. I wanted to hate it because of the cost, but OMG, an absolute game changer!

Allisnotlost1 · 21/12/2025 11:16

On value, I asked ChatGPT to compare the ones I was considering and Liberty came out on top. I was tempted to buy the Vogue one also but felt a bit excessive to have two this year. Personally I love the BD boxes and the last one in particular was excellent.

I’ve enjoyed all the perfumes so far, would have liked matching shampoo and conditioner and perhaps more skincare. I’ve also somehow lost the box of eye patches after using one set… could the dog have eaten them? Very weird. I’ve also recently lost an earring from two pairs. Something fishy going on in my house.

Pinkyporky · 21/12/2025 11:20

There’s often a travel conditioner in the calendars. I’ve just discovered last years in my bathroom cabinet, so I used that this morning. So I’m a year behind 😂

That’s interesting. I tried it on my hand in SNK and balked at the price. I may go in foundationless next year and try it on my face.

Ive only ever used VB pencils, eye shadow (bit glittery for my age now so I just look at it haha): Is the foundation very heavy? Im using a really light one by chanel, Eau de Tient, it doesn't make my mascara smudge which so many do (if not using the tubing one): So the setting spray stops any mascara coming off? What is it? What's CT? Ive never seen mascara in a glass bottle!

AnnieFrancais · 21/12/2025 11:46

@Netaporter Ooooo I found the CT mascara, 9 times more volume! Looks like one I need to try

DivorcedButHappyNow · 21/12/2025 11:49

What was the Trinny product? I was previously a big fan of hers until I discovered Sisley on honeymoon. A v pushy French woman in Sephora converted me. First the shampoo (haven’t used conditioner since) and now the skincare.

I’ve just bought 5 Verden night balms for all the young people at Christmas. Hope it arrives in time. I’ve especially loved that product.

Seagullstopitnow · 21/12/2025 12:09

BIossomtoes · 21/12/2025 08:50

I agree @Iwishihadarivericouldskateawayon. I wonder if being a BD member means I’m more critical - getting yet another product that’s previously turned up in BD boxes annoys me. I’m absolutely fed up with this brand, Bamford and Philip Kingsley. Where’s the equivalent of the £50 Byredo lipstick?

I loved that lipstick so much!

Ilikeyoursleeves · 21/12/2025 12:14

So I tried the PK Elastisizer this morning and then put some of the serum oil stuff on and my hair feels soooo silky and lovely!! I don’t normally venture beyond shampoo and conditioner (oh I used the curry shampoo too) so even though PK may not be ultra luxury, it’s felt like that for me!

Then used the mirror oil, the serum, moisturiser, eye pencil, mascara, Trinny and the Ex Nihilo!

Although a few products are slightly meh I still feel very fortunate and grateful that I’ve been able to treat myself to a fancy AC, the vast majority of drawers have been great for me. I’m reading a book just now called ‘The Art of Spending Money’ and it’s fascinating, it spoke about how we appreciate things we’ve bought more when there’s more contrast. I don’t buy much beauty stuff at all during the year, don’t get any Beauty Drops etc so maybe I’m enjoying this way more cos this isn’t the norm for me and I’m loving the little treats each day!

fishcalledwonder · 21/12/2025 12:18

I’ve got all these hair products muddled in my head. I love make up but never bother much with my hair so a total newbie. Can someone explain the differences like I’m a 5 year old please? I know what to do with the curry shampoo, but that’s it. 😁

Ilikeyoursleeves · 21/12/2025 12:36

@fishcalledwonder I’ve no idea if I’ve done it ‘properly’ but this morn I slightly wet my hair and put some PK Elastisizer through all my hair and stuck it up with a hairband while I went to empty the dishwasher and have a cuppa. I then had a shower and washed it out, then used the curry shampoo and my normal conditioner. Then towel dried my hair, put a few drops of the argan oil through the mid to lower lengths and blow dried it.

My hair feels so lovely now!

Will try today’s product another time so no idea how that one works yet!
