I used to think Kate was an Autumn but posters on these threads iirc have said No, she’s a Summer.
They are right.
An Autumn would suit brown and the brown didn’t suit Kate imho.

Chesticles · 27/12/2025 12:36

Sophie was in pink/mauve. I really like it. And it looks all put together. Louise however obviously just chucks on whatever of her mother’s stuff that comes to hand.

One of my friends is a colours consultant who says Kate is a soft summer and Meghan a deep autumn.

It’s hard to know if Louise is uninterested in fashion so happy to wear her mother’s things or if that is the only option available to her as Edward and Sophie don’t want to buy her new designer clothes she will wear once. The problem is that, to get a coat that fits, she needs to go back 10-15 years in Sophie’s wardrobe and then the cloths look a little dated.

Not sure when the hat was worn by Sophie. Overall Louise looks fine but if everyone else had not gone drab brown she would have looked quite dull and behind fashion wise.

justasking111 · 27/12/2025 14:00

Looking back to my tweens, church, family gatherings I was dressed like Charlotte. Very traditional. Whereas friends and cousins had pretty frothy outfits. Outside of these events I was in shorts and teeshirts or jeans much like my brother's because it suited our country way of life.

Choux · 27/12/2025 14:06

Sophie’s hat is one of those headband things. (You can tell from that description that I don’t like it)

Yes, I prefer the hat Louise is wearing.

Louise’s coat was 2015 Prada and the hat was 2017 Jane Taylor. The scarf was a Highgrove Limited Edition scarf. Tim also wore a Highgrove scarf.

I like to see children dressed as children, though. Increasingly, non uniform days have become eye openers. Girls, even in Yr7 in crop tops or bandeau tops, some with micro skirts or bum crunch leggings. 😯
I find smart coats and shoes quite refreshing!

Coming up in 2026 - an exhibition featuring 200 items from the late Queen's wardrobe: (and what's with 'exhibit' in the BBC headline? It's an exhibition.)

Queen Fashion illustration

Queen Elizabeth II's most iconic outfits ahead of royal exhibit

From fashion diplomacy in the US to a transparent raincoat, the late Queen's style was a powerful formula.

Charlotte is 10 so on the cusp of looking a bit silly dressed like that. I also dread to think what that coat cost and how many times she will get to wear it!!

Sophie’s coat has a bit too much fabric in it imho.

MoreMaths · 27/12/2025 15:20

Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m a bit late to this but I’m in a minority that I quite liked Eugenie’s checked coat although (imo) it would have looked better with some long leather gloves. I also liked Kate’s coat and boots.

Lady Louise’s coat might have been ok with some boots and a different hat but the light coloured shoes didn’t look right at all. I always think she could pull off ‘Victorian Riding Lady’ with a high-necked lacy blouse and riding boots under a long coat. I’m guessing that she doesn’t really have a lot of formal clothing in her wardrobe and perhaps little inclination to worry about it too much just for a day.

Sophie looked good. Camilla and Anne looked fabulous in red.

Lovely to see the younger Royals all together and whilst Charlotte’s coat was perhaps a little on the young side I sometimes forget she’s still only 10. In the videos she seemed very happy on the walkabout which is more important. Nice to see Lena’s coat on its third owner!

It's the opposite of that where I am - most schoolgirls I see are wearing baggy jeans and oversized hoodies!

I’ve booked to see this next summer. Really looking forward to seeing it. 👑

I hope the picture link comes through, as in this photo Louise looks like Rosalind Pike, to my mind. (Edited to add, that it doesn’t- apologies)

deeahgwitch · 27/12/2025 17:00

I agree re Louise’s similarity to the beautiful Rosamund Pike @PoppySeedBagelRedux.
The hat fabric ( was it Sinamay ? ) was too light for Louise’s winter coat. The shoes too were too light and summery for the coat.
Sophie’s shoes were a bit frumpy looking and her coat too long.

Sidebeforeself · 27/12/2025 18:41

I think Louise has such poise and grace

She always looks good in her carriage driving outfit.

Yes, it is a tricky age. I think if she was mine, I’d put her in a more grown up formal style straighter coat-but still with the velvet collar and the same tights and shoes. So she was leaning slightly towards the grown ups rather than towards the younger children. More Team George than Team Louis….

I didn't think that Charlotte looked particularly young for a 10 year old - she looked very similar, possibly older, than Lady Louise when she was 10-12

Unclear of your point about George v Louis . Were George and Louis not wearing identical attire?

They are giving the children a long childhood and I don't see the need to rush them into pre-teenage stuff too early. However, I was surprised to see Charlotte doing her solo walkabout and giving a very exuberant hug to a total stranger - I wonder whether W&K had palpitations! I loved her outfit and thought she looked a real bobby-dazzler.

I think it’s easier for boys-as soon as they’re in long trousers they wear the same clothes that adult men wear. I just think if it was up to me, I’d dress Charlotte so that she looked closer to George’s age than Louis’. Wouldn’t take much- just a differently cut coat, perhaps. But obviously an incredibly trivial point.
