Yes, they are long, I just thought maybe she favoured that style.

Just a very odd choice in a casual style to play football in

Yes, it could be that the clothes are on loan. I'm not sure how that works really.

Megs clothes often don't fit well, so yes perhaps hired couture but surely not linen trousers?
Even her wedding dress didn't fit well.
She may also dress to US fashion rather than UK or European styles.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 25/02/2026 18:10

I think its a misconception that her wedding dreas didnt fit well. A lot of classic couture is body-skimming rather than figure-hugging so that may have been the intention.

deeahgwitch · 25/02/2026 18:22

The white suit is lovely on Meghan.
The khaki trousers are ghastly.

HollyhockDays · 25/02/2026 18:30

Why wouldn’t you have a pair of trainers on / handy if you knew you were going to be playing football?

Because Meghan doesn't have the royal machine that paves the way for the royal family well in advance of a visit. I read Diana's teams schedule for visits it's so slick.

Lunde · 25/02/2026 18:41

Although thinking about it - during the Dior dress thing back in December - didn't Meghan say that she has to keep the clothes she uses to stop them being sold on Ebay etc?

So really then no excuse for not getting her clothes altered to fit.

Meghan usually does casuals quite well and I think a jean or chino style would have worked for her - but these are a miss as the big pleats/flares contain so many metres of fabric that swamp her.

I read that Diana "packed for England"! I think she took stuff for every eventuality.

Right - maybe she could donate them anonymously? Perhaps that's what she does. Either that or she has enormous storage space.

I read that the late Queen donated a lot of day clothes to charity shops in Scotland. I like to think of the Scots women who got quality bargains!

This is very true. Apart from people in the fashion business Americans tend to dress very conservatively.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 25/02/2026 20:19

I wouldnt say Meghan is a conservative dresser. The rest of the royal family are far more conservative!

What sort of hit the ground running, attention to details person needs a paid lackey to tell them to take a pair of trainers on a visit abroad? I'm pretty sure her schedule and activities on the visit are no surprise to her.

Was she playing football? Just looks like she's talking to some footballers in those photos rather than having a kick about.

She definitely took a kick from what looks Ike a penalty spot (as did Harry too)
