I like the dress and I suppose there are only so many colours she can wear that William can coordinate with 😆. I think her hair is fine too. Yes it’s very long, but it is always immaculately glossy and the curls add some style. Plus she is tall enough to get away with the length

CurlewKate · 22/02/2026 23:02

Absolutely love the dress. Don’t love the hair.

Chesticles · 22/02/2026 23:46

I remember the dress the first time
round and I liked it initially but then someone on here likened it to an anatomy muscle model and now I can’t unsee it. I do like the way it flows though!

Love the flow of the dress but the corset bit looks like a bikini top to me.

PlazaAthenee · 23/02/2026 08:19

Her ringlets are possibly natural. I get them and I'm older than her with less pampered hair. If I brushed them out it would just frizz.

They look way to perfect to be natural, though I would love to see her wear her hair naturally curly, because unless it has changed with age she did have curls when she was younger, she just forces them to conform. I love a wild curl!

Hello!
I don’t post much anymore, but waving to old friends! Nice to see W in a velvet jacket , he does look tense.
Not keen on the dress for all the reasons already said, it’s just not her best look for me. I like the hair colour, but as I say regularly, it needs a restyle and going quite a bit shorter. It’s wearing her there, not flattering her pretty features,

EmpressSisi · 23/02/2026 11:06

I really liked dress. It was very feminine and whimsical, and it looked even better when she was walking because the skirt moved so nicely. The colour was pretty, though I do think she looks her best in bold jewel tones (which would have been fab for a glam red carpet look) but she still looked gorgeous.

The only bit I wasn’t keen on was the pink bust strap. I think it might have looked better if it had been all one colour instead of contrasting, but it’s a small detail and didn’t ruin the vibe of the dress.

As for her hair, she’s naturally got thick, curly hair, so a bit of humidity or over brushing will always make it frizz slightly. I seem to remember her hair looking sleeker (as though she had it chemically treated) around the Caribbean tour, but she may be being more careful with it now after her recent medical treatment. I thought it looked soft and romantic last night and suited the dress. Personally, I’d maybe trim an inch or two off, but after the last few years she’s had, I imagine she’s just happy to have her hair and is enjoying having fun with it.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/02/2026 12:13

I liked the dress too! It’s a lovely shape and colours. It’s the sort of dress that looks good on a tall slim frame.

The hair though was too much, I know she uses extensions but this was too much and ended up looking quite like a wig. Plus the shoulders for that dress are so lovely, it was a shame to have the hair down over them, an updo or half up half down to expose the shoulders would have been better.

plus her make up seemed a bit below her usual standard, the blusher in some photos just looks like it’s not been blended. She needs a new glam team.

But that dress on her frame - gorgeous.

I'm just watching Catherine Atkinson, Labour MP on Politics Live.
She has hair like this too!

I'm finding the comments on the hair interesting.

There's a flavour of 1950s 'Older woman shouldn't have her hair down' about it. I suspect that's not remotely what posters are meaning, but comments like 'She's not 8' sound like it.

Do we think there are still acceptable hairstyles for public figures?

....and women over 40?

I’m almost 10 years older than Kate and I have long curly hair. No intention of going short as my hair gets wider the shorter it goes.

I do think however, Kate’s hair is just too long and the coiled ringlets tend to look a bit silly. She’d look amazing with a few inches off.

Maireas · 23/02/2026 12:57

I've just looked up Catherine Atkinson, she's the same age as Kate. (She's taking on Zia Yusuf pretty well 😊)

That's not it for me - I actually like her hair pretty long (and loose about the shoulders!) but not this long - wouldn't like it on a younger Kate either. It completely obscures most of the clothes she wears - and covers up the fab jewelry too. I think that dress would have looked way better (still making her a bit flat-chested) if you could see the bodice of it. Ditto the amazing earrings are covered. When all you see is the hair, it isn't a great look imo. Of course she can wear her hair any way she wants and of course she looks better than most people no matter how she wears it but from the point of view of the whole look and the clothes and accessories, I would prefer if her hair wasn't running the show.

eggandonion · 23/02/2026 13:52

Kate Williams who is the historian often interviewed about royal issues has amazing ringlets. I'd love to be blessed with fab hair.

gluenotsoup · 23/02/2026 14:40

That’s not it for me either, I’m 50 and have quite long hair, but not as long as Kate’s. It’s just think she suits it a bit shorter, similar to she has had previously as it almost lifts her up a bit and emphasises her eyes

justasking111 · 23/02/2026 14:50

Which bafta dress is the favourite.

I liked the first iteration of the white dress (without the black gloves, which just looked a bit wrong to me), and the lilac with the white belt. I think that was the year she married, at some BAFTAs thing in the US.

Maireas · 23/02/2026 14:54

Good question! I like the white one shouldered one, but without the long black gloves.

Edited

We have the same taste @KiIIingMeDeftly 😀

I prefer the shoulder detail on the gloved one.

Sidebeforeself · 23/02/2026 15:12

I really disliked the last two. No. 5 emphasised her boobs too much ( nothing to be ashamed of I mean it made the dress seem as if it was wrapped around them) and No 6 straps were too thin and looked like they’d just fallen down.

I loved all the other looks though

Me too. That lilac dress is gorgeous on her. She wore it to Hollywood on one of their first overseas tours and it is one of my favourite looks on her. Reminds me of this lovely dress on Diana

I think that black flowery Erdem is an abomination. At least i think it’s Erdem.
