Is Melania a royal now?

Is Melania a royal now?

I guess

Mary has some great looks there. One or two are a bit fussy for my taste, but she rocks those jewels.
I love the deep red velvet, and the bright red silk gown is stunning 😍.

Yes, that burgundy is fabulous on her.

MoreMaths · 01/01/2026 22:54

A couple of photos from the Danish New Year dinner. I’m not keen on Mary’s dress, it’s too fussy for me and I prefer her in stronger colours. Daisy looks radiant though.

Melania is fabulous at strutting.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 01/01/2026 23:09

Oh that is a bit disappointing from Mary.

Maireas · 01/01/2026 23:20

Strange. It looks like a satin strapless dress with a lace blouse underneath.
Daisy in fur, of course.

Hm that's a miss, I think. The colour washes her out and the lacy neckline is too fussy in combination with the order chain. I love her in the jewel colours from previous years.

Happy new year everyone, and thanks to all the regular contributors and to @Maireas for corralling the threads. May 2026 bring sparkles and jewels in abundance! 👑💍💎

Mary a miss. Daisy incorrigible 🤩.

Yes thank you @Maireas . It's been a pleasure as always.

It is almost exactly that!

The dress started out as this gold dress with a plain bodice, which Mary wore a few times. She then had it altered into a skirt and a wider belt, which she has worn with a brown lace top. She also obviously had the dress’ bodice reworked into a bustier type top, which she wore with the skirt yesterday over a separate blouse.

I like her interest in reworking her clothes, but think yesterday’s was the worse version of the dress.

Ah, thank you, @Serenster . The original dress is nice, and preferable to the modified versions, imo.

Mary is a bit Disney Princess in the latest version of that dress. I like the shirt and brown top one best, its a bit meh all one colour.

MoreMaths · 02/01/2026 11:18

Thank you @Serenster - I didn't look too closely when I posted the photos - top detective work!

I actually like it as a skirt with the brown lace top.

smilesy · 02/01/2026 12:08

I like the original dress but agree that the skirt is the best iteration. I’m not keen on the style of the brown top but I do like the colour. This latest version is a bit Disney as pp said , meets Maid Marion and looks more like a dress up costume than a dress

eggandonion · 02/01/2026 13:44

I wonder what other excellent royal frocks could have similar rework?
Speaking as someone with daughters who have wedding dresses and evening dresses in my house because they don't have space in their houses!

deeahgwitch · 02/01/2026 17:28

Anyone else get Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia vibes from Mary in the latest iteration of the dress ?

Choux · 02/01/2026 17:47

It’s not a good rework. There is too much going on with the too tight corset (she is spilling out of it at her armpits and has a spare tyre under the skirt waistband) and the not tight enough lace top. The neckline is so high that, along with the severe hairstyle, she looks like a Victorian era governess.

And the colour is not the best on her. She looks best IMO in jewel tones like the burgundy velvet she wore several times.

StartupRepair · 02/01/2026 19:52

I have always liked the gold but the lace blouse does not work.
