I’ve fallen out of love with Vinted

Since the ladies size debacle I’ve completely lost interest in Vinted. I’ve gone from buying 3-4 things a week to absolutely nothing, all due to the change in sizes descriptions.

Today I thought I’d have a go and look for a jacket, I’m a standard uk12, but now I have to search 10-12, everything I liked was a 10, or a tiny size that’s ended up in the category since the changes.

I really can’t be bothered with it anymore and I’m sad about that as I had so many great purchases over the years.

Anyone else also given up on Vinted?

I’ve gone off it but mainly because I find sellers are often over pricing items. Quite often I see things cheaper in the sale, or for a high price item, say a Dry Robe, maybe £20/30 cheaper than new. Anything I load is usually considerably less than bought new as I see it as bit of extra income, for things might have taken to charity shops. Although I take plenty to charity also!
I agree, it’s much harder to search now and haven’t bought anything for a while.

Isn’t that because people can offer quite a lot less & like to do so? I personally list things a bit higher than I want as I know I will get lower offers.

People favourite things as it's so confusing to find something you've seen again. It's not like ebay where you can be fairly certain of finding it again if you go back later. Favourite doesn't mean 'I want to buy this' it means 'I may, just may be interested in this but I'm bookmarking it as otherwise it will disappear back into the see of chaos that is vinted'

I also favourite things so I can go back to them once money appears in my balance. If it’s gone, then tough but if not, i might buy it then.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/12/2025 00:55

I've given up as well.
I've stuck everything on Ebay.
Bollocks to Vinted.
They will regret this.

Dogladycrazy · 01/12/2025 07:53

I deleted the app and gave a scathing Trustpilot review when they wouldn’t refund me for an item I bought that was clearly counterfeit- the seller actually blocked me when I raised it with her which said it all really. I had clear evidence the item was a knock off and vinted were allowing sellers to list fake items on their platform and not doing anything about it! She was still allowed to sell on Vinted and also keep my money! I was fuming!

noonames · 01/12/2025 08:27

What pisses me off is when sellers call something designer, they put that in the title and again in the first line of the description eg “Vivienne Westwood earrings”. Then they add multiple rows of blank space before adding “these earrings are inspired by Vivienne Westwood”. But that’s only visible if you scroll down past the white space. They are clearly hoping you will buy them thinking they are VW, and will then have no comeback because they said in the listing they weren’t genuine. Absolute scam but Vinted don’t seem to mind it at all.

Floisme · 01/12/2025 08:49

One reason I prefer Ebay as a buyer - I'm mostly looking for vintage so it may be different elsewhere - is that sellers generally state garment measurements without waiting to be asked.

Yes I saw a top the other day on ebay, the photographs showed a size 14-16 on the label but the seller put in the description that it fits more like a size 10-12, it's little things like that that save so much trouble...

That’s just as likely on Vinted as on eBay!

Some sellers are just more proactive at putting in more details in their listings. Many eBay sellers are very lazy and don’t photograph any labels etc

I thought they didn't release the money to the seller until you've confirmed that everything's ok? How did they do that? Just found in her favour in the dispute?

Yes for same reason. I’m a 14 so the 12-14 range you gave to pick and choose. Can’t be bothered

Yeah I am aware of that thanks but I must have been unlucky because hardly anything I bought from Vinted has had a description apart from the bloody obvious, such as "Pink top" or such, I find ebay slightly better, (not always though)

Vivianebrooksmatsumoto · 02/12/2025 14:19

I buy mostly vintage on there, so I know the sizings but I've listed my last items on there. As a seller people want things for nothing, send you stupid offers (£3.60 for a £6 vintage coat?) or get funny if you decline their petty offers(trying to knock 40p off £3? No, you "Come on!")
Buying is mostly fine but some sellers do lie( I can't be fooled,so telling me a company doesn't use branded packaging when I have the items to prove they do...nope!)
Ebay it's very hard to sell stuff on though and Depop is even worse, so all that's left is vinted and it's army of lowballers and cheapskates. Don't start me on the lowballing resellers on there...!

Vivianebrooksmatsumoto · 02/12/2025 14:24

Forgot to mention offers- no one ever follows through or accepts then buys if I make offers to them. One I tried to counter, got ignored so I blocked them. Yet another timewaster.
I guess it's a built in game in the app!
I don't like that offers have no expiry either. Ebay you get 3 days or around that.

ContentedAlpaca · 03/12/2025 08:35

I've also given up because of the sizing. I don't have time to click into each item and check descriptions and labels only to find 3 out of 4 items are not my size..

Also the main screen that gives suggestions used to be much more accurate and I used to love an idle scroll, but now it's useless.

SophiaSmiles · 03/12/2025 16:07

The change to how sizes are listed is annoying, but… is it necessary to ‘love’ a commercial service? It’s there to do a job when you want to realise a few quid back from an ill-advised purchase you’ve found in the bottom of a drawer, not to be fun.

For buyers I think it does make a big difference whether the experience is fun or irritating. I used to scroll through Vinted looking for the perfect jumper as a more fun alternative to doomscrolling social media over breakfast, saving ideas, occasionally making impulse purchases. I’m not using it at all now and I imagine a lot of others are the same.

bingohandjob · 06/12/2025 14:33

I've tried to buy better quality but second hand for years and Vinted was a revelation - how easy it was, how well the algorithm suggested items I would love and then the change in the sizing categories means, for me at least, it's totally gone to shit. The sizing is now all over the place - I hate letter sizing as it is (God knows that the bloody damage it does to children/teens having to wear clothes that label them as EXTRA large, just use measurements!) but Vinted seem to have really screwed up here. Haven't bought anything on it for ages as it's just too much faff to actual see what bloody size something is!

Mygardenandme · 07/12/2025 17:16

I've just received 2 items. Both described as "very good condition". Item 1 was only suitable for the bin. Item 2 might wash up ok but probably not. The first seller said "what do you expect from Vinted?". The second is ignoring me. Obviously Vinted are not at all interested.

That's it. I'm done.

HRTQueen · 07/12/2025 18:03

i have been looking for size 12 trousers

bizarrely they show up as being size 16-18

now I look at 16-18 on the notes it will say often be bites as a size 12

im still happy with majority of items purchased just not with the site

HoneyParsnipSoup · 07/12/2025 18:04

Me too the sizing is ridiculous. And so many people never bother to send. If your non dispatch rate is something like more than 20% of your listings, your account should be blocked IMO

Mycuprunnethempty · 07/12/2025 18:21

I've given up. Got really annoyed lately, bought a cheap item listed as "very good", got it and it was well used. Then had to pay postage to return, even though it was mis-sold, in the end I spent more on postage than the item cost, while the seller lost nothing and was able to resell. I thought I would be able to at least leave a review to warn others, but this was removed as an option as well.. Not impressed. Along with the sizing issue, I've just given up and gone back to ebay.

HappyFace2025 · 07/12/2025 18:30

FletchFan · 29/11/2025 23:29

So annoying. I'm a size 10-12 and now I have to select 8-10 and 10-12 so end up with so much stuff that I know wouldn't fit.

I'm small size 16 so have to search 12-14 as well as 16-18 and invariably have to ask for measurements too as so few sellers include them. Pain in the proverbial.

NancyBellaDonna · 07/12/2025 23:50

I’ve given up too.

BlackCatsForever · 08/12/2025 11:11

But people were always complaining about the sizes before because a small was a size 6 and a large was only a size 12. They’ve fixed that and people are still complaining! It seems like they can’t win!

You can’t expect Vinted to work just like the Next website or the M&S website - there’s always going to be an element of risk involved in buying second hand.

I’ve never ever bought from Vinted without knowing what the actual label in the item says - don’t understand who would be daft enough to do that! If it’s not included in the listing I just scroll on by or if it’s something I’m really interested in I message the seller.

WhatterySquash · 08/12/2025 11:38

Because they've "fixed" it with a different but equally useless system.

It's baffling because it would be so easy to just list all the sizes and let you choose what's on the label. That is what people want to know and be able to search for.
