I’ve fallen out of love with Vinted

Since the ladies size debacle I’ve completely lost interest in Vinted. I’ve gone from buying 3-4 things a week to absolutely nothing, all due to the change in sizes descriptions.

Today I thought I’d have a go and look for a jacket, I’m a standard uk12, but now I have to search 10-12, everything I liked was a 10, or a tiny size that’s ended up in the category since the changes.

I really can’t be bothered with it anymore and I’m sad about that as I had so many great purchases over the years.

Anyone else also given up on Vinted?

Completely agree. First of all the way they introduced the change was just bafflingly idiotic - no notice at all, suddenly everything was listed incorrectly; and only a couple of days later did they belatedly send a message informing everyone.

Then the change itself is just ridiculously irritating. In this move to be 'inclusive' by - as far as I can tell - changing the sizes to be more like the new H&M sizes which doesn't try to tell a UK size 14 person (which is me) that they are 'extra large', they have now made me need to include two size categories when searching for clothing. This includes a size M, in case the seller has accurately used the Vintage version of sizing which means a 14 is a medium, or size L, which means the seller has used the item's categorisation which in most cases DOES reflect a size 14. So I'm now trawling through items that are size 12, 14, 16 and 18 in order to be able to find what I want. And only if I know the brand's sizing and the seller has shown the actual label will I buy it.

I would love to know how this has affected their sales since the change, and wonder if they'll abandon this move. Surely profits have fallen off a cliff edge?

This is the reason I have stopped buying. I've always been pretty confident that I could buy a size 10 or medium and it would fit. Now I have to search such a range of sizes and then trawl through the results to see if the items returned are the actual size I need. Plus I have lost confidence in the sizes listed.

hollyblueivy · 30/11/2025 08:08

It’s unbearable and. It enjoyable browsing anymore as half the stuff in the size bracket will not apply to me and I don’t know that until I go searching through photos or description to establish the actual size!!!!

Duckies · 30/11/2025 08:10

Yes, like PP it is probably for the best as scrolling the app was getting a bit compulsive. The algorithm has been getting worse and worse.

I remember when, if there were two or more identical items, they would show in 'similar items'. 'Similar items' is now random shit in the same colour... All intentional, I'm sure as it makes it harder to find the cheaper version so you stay on the app and engage with sellers.

The sizing thing is the last straw, cannot be bothered.

OvernightBloats · 30/11/2025 08:12

Vinted have scored an own goal! The sizing changes will turn people away. It is too much like hard work to trawl through the items to find what you want.

Ebay will be a more attractive option now for a lot of people.

x12 · 30/11/2025 08:16

I stopped listing on ebay as so few sales & even views. Maybe that will change

Supersimkin7 · 30/11/2025 08:18

Loads of effort to look, zero finds.

Worse, 10% of my sales are ‘lost’ which isn’t on. That’s a lot of fraud.

BessieSurtees · 30/11/2025 08:44

The customer service had me wary but yep the sizing finished me off. Not only do you need to look in double size categories but you also need to look at the old sizing system as some sellers don't know about the change. I cant buy anything without messaging the seller to check the size to be then told it not the size I was looking for. I have mentioned why I am asking and so many people dont know about the change.

Thesockthief · 30/11/2025 09:08

I’ve bought pretty much all my clothes on Vinted over the last couple of years and am so disappointed with the recent changes. Is there an alternative, apart from EBay?

RobinTheCavewoman · 30/11/2025 09:08

I only buy things if the photo shows the size label or if the seller explicitly states it.
I have had a run of bad luck but got refunds easily enough so can't bring myself to quit just yet.
The worst experience was an unwashed jumper with actual vomit on (yes reader, I stupidly sniffed it to check!). Why are people like this?!

Zempy · 30/11/2025 09:14

It’s definitely made things more difficult.

I am size 10/12 on top and 6/8 on bottom, which is tough enough.

You can imagine what my feed looks like now…

molly5678 · 30/11/2025 09:16

its such a strange decision by Vinted. They must be losing so much revenue!

Mygardenandme · 30/11/2025 09:18

Is this why when I was looking for size 16 yesterday, lots of size 12s were coming up?

I dont use it much as Ive never found it particularly user friendly and Ive been sent some absolute crap that was described as "excellent condition".

Floisme · 30/11/2025 09:27

I've only bought 3 times so it feels early to be breaking up with them but, aside from this sizing issue, I found the addictiveness really quite disturbing.

I did get a great Cos skirt from there but maybe it's best to walk away while I still have fond memories

FcukBreastCancer · 30/11/2025 09:28

Same. Leave a review on play/ apple store. Hopefully they will listen eventually and change it back.

There’s Depop but I haven’t used it (yet).

Wintersgirl · 30/11/2025 09:41

I dislike it for all the reasons above but also there's hardly anyone who writes a description of an item, and you can't zoom in on photos which is really annoying

Noshowlomo · 30/11/2025 09:43

After a year or more off it I decided to start using it to sell again. I always put the size of the item in the headline of my description and photo of the size tag in the photos. I wish everyone did, so much easier.
I’ve had a lovely dress and jeans in the last 2 weeks but only buy if they include a photo of the size tag, I really can’t be bothered with messaging to ask what the size actually is.

WhatterySquash · 30/11/2025 09:51

I have no idea why they don’t just list all the sizes like eBay does. And while they’re at it make the highlight colour for the page you’re on stand out more. These are such basic things for a big online shop to get so wrong.

Moreteaandchocolate · 30/11/2025 10:13

I still find it good for buying and selling children’s clothes.

Lavendersquare · 29/11/2025 23:29

So not just me then. I imagine the uk sales figures for November will be shocking. I just don’t understand why they had to mess it up, this business of unifying the sizes (which it hasn’t) doesn’t make sense as American women will be looking for an American size 10, and also won’t want to search American size 8’s and 10’s lumped together any more than we do 🤷🏻‍♀️.

This is what I keep thinking, it makes NO sense, on any level. Absolute fuckwits only at Vinted it seems. I feel the same as you overall, and I’m a bit gutted, I’ve been a Vinted fiend for several years now and found some gorgeous things for bargainous prices but it’s just crap now.

SlowChargerMayBeDamaged · 30/11/2025 10:16

It's a balls.
It was already annoying in that you typed in a brand and they showed you all different brands and you had to filter.
Also it was annoying anyway in that you couldn't tick more than one category or size if you wanted to (eg you had to tick jumpers then go back a second time and do another search for cardigans, or whatever)
And now with the sizing up the left it's hardly worth it. The ebay search facilities are amazing in comparison.

Absolutely re the descriptions but you can zoom on photos. When on the full listing, click on the photo you want to zoom in on so the photo is full screen then pinch or double tap to zoom as you would with any other photos.

On the app you can zoom in on photos if you click on the photo which enlarges it slightly and you can only see the photo and no description you can then zoom in.

Thanks. I might check it out. I bet they’re happy!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 30/11/2025 10:37

Can I ask all of you to message Vinted and tell them how bad it is please. The only way we can get them to do something about it is enough people complain.
