estellacandance · 09/09/2025 10:00

I haven’t seen a princessing thread for ages.

I feel like my self care has been sidelined this year.
My skin, weight and mental health have suffered the most.

So my list to prioritise:
Bed by 11, sleep by midnight
Remove make up at night
Night cream/retinol
Use my LED machines!
Hyaluronic serum in the morning
More frequent & thorough teethbrushing & use whitener.
Have water with me all the time
Take vitamins/supplements with my breakfast.
Daily stretches/yoga inc breath work
Outdoors every day, more forest bathing/blue space.
Drink green tea
Daily smoothie, raw veg & more fruit.
Weekly coconut hair mask.
Pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day
Morning Pages
Read from a book every evening
Squats amap
DIY mani/pedi inc self reflexology/Shiatsu
Reduce UHP foods/drinks
Daily relaxation/meditation with music/incense

Who wants to join?

What are your goals?

Managed nightime skincare tonight, and am in bed before 11. Also wore a dress today - promptly spilled taco filling down it but, hey, I tried.

Have also booked to go lane swimming tomorrow morning at 7am. Alarm set for 06.30. Apparently Sundays have two 6.30s, who knew...?🤣

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/09/2025 23:03

reading this, do folk not take their make up off every night? That seems bizarre!

tostaky · 14/09/2025 05:07

Ooh i’d love to join!
i put some night serum in my hair last night and two super moisturising cream on my face!
Tomorrow evening, after yoga, will be my everything shower.

Why the judgemental tone?
No, a quick shower before going to work is never going to be a showerwhen i take my time, wash my hair, perhaps do a body scrub, then put some body cream, deal with unwanted hair and so on…
sometimes i forget to drink enough water or i drink too much tea/coffee.
i have also been known to forget to take iff my make up especially in my younger year.
theres no harm for a personal reminder.

NotItsyBitsyNorTeenyWeeny · 14/09/2025 11:35

Oh I love these threads! But I usually fall.off before the end 😬. Will try not to this time.

Will come back with my list in a bit

ODFOD. Thanks for sharing your amazing superiority. We'll let you move on now, plenty other MN threads for you to share you superiority on...

NotItsyBitsyNorTeenyWeeny · 14/09/2025 17:04

Right, I'm back!

  1. Cook from scratch at home as much as possible. Meal plan so I don't end up eating random sandwiches for dinner
  2. Buy a new water bottle and use it (don't currently have one)
  3. Sort out wardrobe, get rid of very worn out things (like work shoes) and replace
  4. No alcohol, (except for a couple of social events I've got in the run up to Christmas with old friends)
  5. Keep up basic skincare routine - don't buy any random serums 😆
  6. Try and get in more fruit and veg
  7. Into bed by 11pm
  8. Get on spin bike and do a little dumbbell routine 5 times a week
  9. Get hair trimmed twice between now and Christmas (my hair really needs regular trims)
Doseydots · 14/09/2025 17:23

i am prepping tonight, had a lovely pamper shower, and I am going to sit and do my nails tonight. I will get to bed by 9 and hopefully wake up refreshed and ready to start tomorrow.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/09/2025 19:01

Hair dyed
Eyebrows dyed

I'll wax my pits then the empty tub can get recycled

That's enough for one day Grin

GameOfJones · 14/09/2025 19:14

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 14/09/2025 10:13

These tend to be nice threads. Why come on and judge?

I drink water, but usually not 2 litres a day. I mainline black coffee in the mornings so I can easily get to the evening and realise I only had a glass of water with lunch and one with dinner. I don't tend to feel thirsty so it's something I'd like to improve.

I do always take my makeup off.

I have never in my life done an everything shower until the other day! My showers are usually wash hair and body and sometimes shave. I.e functional and keeps me clean and presentable. Loads and loads of people won't use body scrub, lotion afterwards, apply a hair mask etc on a regular basis. I'm surprised that you are surprised.

tostaky · 14/09/2025 19:31

Yoga ✔️
hair washed with nice shampoo/conditioner ✔️
firming cream applied to my whole body ✔️
retinol to my face ✔️
a layer of weleda “skin food” on top of retinol ✔️
nice clean pj on 🤩
i need to do a bit of parenting now (DP at football) and then i am going to go back to bed with a book and a cup of mint tea.. bliss…
Tomorrow i want to do a gym session and a pelvic floor exercise (WFH so flexible)

GameOfJones · 14/09/2025 19:33

@MooFroo I've got oily skin too. I try to not overload my skin with loads and loads of products and I focus on lightweight textures and some chemical exfoliation. It seems to work for me! I don't know if it is of any use but just in case my routine is:

Morning:

Cleanse with micellar water

Vitamin C serum

SPF. I don't use a separate day cream as it's too much for my skin. I like the L'Oréal Revitalift Anti UV fluid SPF 50 as it's lightweight and sinks in well so doesn't leave my face feeling greasy.

Evening:

Wash face with a foaming cleanser (these work better for me than balms which tend to make my skin greasier.)

Use toner on a cotton pad. A salicylic one every other night for exfoliation and oil control and then just a soothing rosewater one on alternate nights.

Nivea Cellular Bakuchiol serum

Nivea Hydra Gel night cream (this is lovely and lightweight... I tend to go for gel style creams as anything too rich and heavy just give me spots.)

It sounds like more faff than it actually is as the whole thing probably takes about 5 minutes a day but my skincare routine is probably the one bit of princessing I currently stick to!

tostaky · 14/09/2025 19:38

Princessing goals:
. Buy new clothes in local shops as i have been buying too much online. I love shopping it is a shame i have a very limited budget! 🤣
. read more for work or for pleasure
. arrange meet up with friends
. do some exercise every day i WFH and at the weekend
. cook “properly” a bit more
. drink more water!
. lose some weight before i start new job

petitpasta · 14/09/2025 19:44

Enjoyed my swim this morning. Was back home drying my hair just after 8am. Will definitely repeat.

Just planned my outfits (down to accessories and underwear which I put into PE bags round the hanger of the outfit). Will make the mornings easier as I will only have to change my bag if I need to.

All my boots and shoes have been sprayed with water protector spray and I have dug out my gloves and thicker scarves.

Have also done my evening skincare, now about to get off my phone and finish my book.

I had an Egym assessment at the gym this week and it said my ages were:

metabolic - 62
mobility -62
strength - 25

my actual age is 52, so need to work on getting the first two in line with that. I plan to go to the gym 2/3 times a week, plus some swimming / yoga etc thrown in.
Hair desperately needs colouring
Eyebrows need a freshen up

Daily:
vitamins / supplements without fail (vit d, b6,b12, calcium, magnesium, folic acid and omega 3)
2 litres water
10,000 steps
7-8 hours sleep
fake tan once a week (legs look like a corpse otherwise)

NotItsyBitsyNorTeenyWeeny · 14/09/2025 20:01

Well, I've ordered a new water bottle and eaten some fruit.

Will do an online grocery shop tomorrow after work. Hopefully being online will stop random treats falling in my trolley! Also gives me no excuse to get on my spin bike. I can do my online shop on the bike tbh.

Xmasmusings · 14/09/2025 20:11

Can I ask what a Princessing thread is? I've read the posts but the lists seem quite different - some about health, some about hobbies, etc.

And what's an 'everything' shower?

I was thinking today that I really need to focus on self-care over the next few months so it sounds something like what you're doing. I'll need to give it some thought. I don't want to set goals that will add to my stress but do want to look after myself better.

It started in 2011 I think when the now prince and princess of Wales were getting married. The point was to treat a date in the near future as if it were your own wedding. So, you do all the healthy eating, exercise and general preening you would do for your wedding. For some people it is the full works, including tweakments and the like, but for others it's just eating a bit healthier and getting to bed on time, in the hopes we'll look our best for Christmas

Xmasmusings · 14/09/2025 20:24

Thank you, @NotItsyBitsyNorTeenyWeeny. I remember the 2011 wedding. I might well join you all once I've given it some thought!

FoxglovesAndLupins · 14/09/2025 20:46

I’d love to join in. My list is:

  1. more warm water/herbal tea
  2. read at night before bed
  3. body brush twice a week
  4. get outside once a day
  5. gym once a week
  6. outdoor run once a week

No. I’m autistic and struggle with basic self care. Hence this thread. If I have a list and goals I’m much more likely to complete tasks.
