All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...especially as it was half term.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Today

2 sausage and egg muffins
salami and Port Salut
salad with lettuce, tuna, anchovies, 3 quail eggs, green beans and vinaigrette
nuts
and just had beef stroganoff which wasn't great, the sauce was FAB but the meat should have been marinated overnight really, it was tough. Oh well, it was an onion, mushrooms, beef, paprika, pepper, and double cream. With lettuce and green beans
loads of water
sunscreen
happy
no wine for 4th day

My culinary claim to fame is not as impressive as Enid's but on my train this morning I heard a mellifluous voice say "I 'ave sent you the 'erbs" and something else I didn't quite catch in the most fabulous French accent and I thought wow, what a fantastic voice so looked up to see Raymond Blanc reading Le Monde.

SrAlan beckons...

Where is everyone else? Have I scared everyone off by going on about India and Neris? I do hope not.

Btw my La Redoute order arrived today, I ordered on 5th MAY that is truly shite. Haven't looked at it yet.

Sunscreen - yes
No or little booze - not a drop
Walking - not much but have played Wii tennis (and cow racing)
Lots of water - at least 2 litres
Apply body cream - yes
Use hand cream - yes
Go to bed early - usually before midnight but with one or two Archie-pitstops before dawn.
Eat healthily - very good today & lots of fruit.
Be happy - yes (though a bit cranky around dinner & DCs bedtime)

ureb - sorry about your ear, is it being treated?

suzy & www - I have never seen such dedication to a diet, well done!

ts & enid - yes, more bootcamp babies please (but not for me, I'm definitely done with it).

DS1 is 5 tomorrow, which means an unreasonably early start, so I'm off to bed now.

Not much to report here. Same old really and despite 6 whole days of virtue (well, apart from the champagne during the weekend, but I think I managed to gloss over that) I don't yet appear to be a size 8.

Oats for breakfast
Chicken, mushroom and roasted pepper on turkish
My veggie soup with one slice of rye bread

Back for more abuse from the Wii. It alleges that I have gained 1lb since yesterday and promptly replaced the fat it removed from my WiiMii yesterday. . Despite the lecture about weight gain I persevered with a long jog, two lots of step plus, one free step and various hula hoop sessions.

Weigh in in the morning. I was going to go to the gym beforehand but I still can't find my trainers. I am blaming dp.

Now off to bed. Or would do if DD hadn't been coming out of MY bedroom where she is in MY bed for the last 2.5 hours.

[supresses several urges]

bamamama · 05/06/2008 12:21

www - not I&Ning per se but figured that my diet could do with a little less in the carb dept and anyway those muffins sounded good. (which indeed they are)

L&S have you got/had your interview? Good luck.

Well done on the weight loss pecka.

TS and Enid - I'm all for bootcamp babies but I want one first, so back off! We're only on month 2 of ttc and already I can see how all consuming this may become. Last month I imagined had loads of symptoms, this month, nothing. What am I going to be like after doing this for ages? (apart from tired).

Arfishy - is Evil Victoria not looking the better option over the WiiFit? and lol at the image of you clapping with weights!

Happy birthday Norks ds1!

I used to buy things from La Redoute - a word of caution, should you ever decide to buy curtains from them (and I can't think why you would) then they don't sell them in pairs..luckily my second one matched (as in it looked rather cheap ) Had a nice winter coat from them a couple of years ago though.

So, today a small victory in that I didn't go for cake and coffee with ds even though I walked round the lake twice (for small boy napping purposes) which means at least 12k. I have been eating cheese non stop though since I got home so the good work is undone. Have also just opened a bottle of red as dh is out (again) and I don't see why he should have all the fun!

Oh, and any attempt to exercise in the comfort of my home is now met with a solem (sp?) 2 year old shaking his head and intoning "no dance mama"....he should have seen me in my glory days..!

Enid · 05/06/2008 12:40

I got really drunk with 2 friends in the pub last night

we were only supposed to have One Glass after pilates to discuss friend's woes

Ended up drinking 2 and half bottles between us and talking really loudly about our sex lives to the complete joy of the barman and chef sitting at the bar

they had to chuck us out at the end

batters I would love the book! pretty please. Do you have CAT?

have sent out a shout

yoyo · 05/06/2008 15:02

Have had some cake and chocolate today. Really, really fancied it and not just looking to stuff myself so was very enjoyable.
Having a very hard time with DD1 at the moment which is making me feel rather upset and crap as a parent. Tried to be upbeat in work but wasn't successful. Hope to try and improve things later as DH is out so won't be giving his musings on everything.

Might try and get to gym if he is back early enough. If not will stomp around with DC for a bit.

Time to walk to school.

moonshine · 05/06/2008 18:24

Apologies if I don't catch up with everyone as am trying to cook dinner for the dcs and put a rocket up Amazon's a**e at the same time.

Norks - cute children!

Yoyo - am I right in thinking that your dd is a teenager? In which case it is her job to make you feel like a crap parent. Sorry not much help but huge sympathies. Whilst I would gladly chop off a limb for mine I would still happily lock them in a cupboard (with dh for both his and mine sake) for a few days atm. By the way, does Butlins have happy memories for you (hands in prayer emoticon)?

WWW - my redoute order took nearly as long - v bad customer service. In contrast my Oli.co.uk order placed at a similar time took less than 12 hours.

WiiFit sounds fun . Acutally would really like to get one but will have to wait to see if we ever have any spare cash to spend (doubtful until ds starts school next January).

I have had the pms raging hormones from the 9th Circle of Hell which peaked yesterday (hence wanting to lock everyone in a cupboard). today I have finally stopped raging, despite having put on 4lbs overnight!!! I know logically it is pre-men bloating but that does't really make it any better (but a lot of wine did help a little last night and the night before. And don't even think to tell me that that is the cause as I will then have to cry again). And I have a stinking cold .

So I shall rejoin you lovely bootcampers in a few days when I am back on a slighly more even keel and dh and dcs have forgiven my for being bitch mother/wife from Hell.

WideWebWitch · 05/06/2008 18:49

Moonshine, have we synchronised on this thread? I have pmt too, wanted to shoot people at work. It IS bloating and you shouldn't even weigh yourself remotely around your period so hang on and things will improve.

Yoyo, sympathy on your dd, anything we can help with? I am so not looking forward to teenagers in a lot of ways.

Enid that sounds like great fun. Btw, a thought, almost all Nigel Slater will be fine on India and Neris, there's a lovely thought hey? Just ignore any sugar (although can't think he tells you to use it)

Bama, lol at Victoria looking better than Wiifit! Watch it, I&N do say at beginning of book "if you eat this AND carbs you will get v fat" - apols if I've said this before. Good luck on the ttc.

Arfy lol at not size 8, really? Me neither Wiifit sounds scary, exdh said he was going to get one for ds but hasn't yet. Buggered if I'm going to spend £70 to be insulted

DofN, happy birthday to your ds!

unknwon, sorry about your ear.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 05/06/2008 18:57

Today

2 sausage and egg muffins
salami, port salut as a snack
smoked salmon/cream cheese wraps
nuts
and we're having salmon and salad for supper

Saw on the I&N forum that there is a Champagne with no extra sugar, "sans dosage" and that it's the best tihng to drink on this diet (apart from vodka and soda which I don#t fancy at all, I don't drink spirits, ewww) so I am ahem, now £250 worse off after ordering 6 bottles and some other assorted bottles at Berry Bros. It's this one and the cheapest price I found was that above.

Back later!

OP posts:
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/06/2008 19:10

Will try to catch up properly

Norks - fabs photos, fab kids. Archie looks so sweet

www - lol at your losing £££ and spending £££ on Champers!

ureb - hope the ear isn't too sore.

yoyo - sympathy on the teen woes. I'm finding it's heaven or hell with teens and nowt in between.

No more bootcamp babies here either. Please refer yourselves to the above comment before throwing caution to the wind.

HOW'S THE HEAD ENID!!

Bootcamp? Well yes.....

Sunscreen - lax
No booze - zilch.
Gym, lots this week plus a run so all happy here
Lots of water/weak - lax
Apply body cream - lax
Use hand cream - OK
Go to bed early, yes but sleeping badly at the moment.
eat healthily. Not too bad.
Be happy. It's sunny, so yes.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/06/2008 19:11

Anyone heard from JJ?

LoveAndSqualor · 05/06/2008 20:16

Hello all

Lol at this thread. Just generally, lol. Special mention: Enid's noisy sexlife, www's £££ champagne habit and arfishy's failure to attain size 8, despite a near-week of virtue

All well here. No word yet about the job, and must confess that I will be a trifle piqued if I don't get an interview

Today: pretty good, bootcampwise. Lots of walking; met my sister for lunch and had sushi (mmmmmm); walked around the park with a friend this afternoon and even resisted the siren song of the ice cream van Halo. Haven't done my situps yet though, praps I'll try now.

About to go and make tea now. Not sure what it will involve (prob leftover couscous) but I can promise you that there will be mushrooms. Oh yes.

WideWebWitch · 05/06/2008 20:48

Saggars, can you give us your top tips for teenagers and ten year olds that are practicing for teenagerdom? That being said, ds has been ANGELIC tonight AND did his 11+ test and got 100%, woo hoo. I am so hoping he gets in, alternative is paying and just as dd goes to school and we were about to lose monthly nursery fees and replace them with my new Champagne habit (btw emailed dh at work to say I have spent £250 on wine and when I came in tonight he said "you are JOKING, right?" - I shouldn't really be allowed anywhere near the interweb with my debit card when I have pmt. I've only just been refunded the entire £150 Monsoon order that was full of shite clothes that didn't suit me, bought in pmt frenzy.

L&S that sounds like a lovely day and I am most impressed at sit ups.

I wonder how JJ is too.

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 05/06/2008 22:23

Blimey www, that's some drink, lol.

Happy birthday little Duke.

Well done www DS. When will you know whether or not he gets in?

No interest whatsoever in having another little alien baby, but love to hear about others. Hoping to go and see my friend and her two-week old vv soon. Spoke to her the other day and she's sounds blissful (apart from the lack of sleep, bless).

Ear is soso. Should make an appt I guess (was over the bank holiday last weekend, and the inflammation had reduced by the time the surgery re-opened.) May just have gone swimming too soon.

We discussed IPD in the office yesterday and a colleague has the book (she must have almost every diet book in creation, lol). She's going to bring it in so I can have a read, she found the book good for all the reasons mentioned by www, but couldn't commit to the plan.

  • Sunscreen at all times yy
  • No booze.
  • 2 mile hike, plus the twister.
  • Lots of water/weak tea.
  • Apply body cream no.
  • Use hand cream, yy
  • Go to bed early, midnightish.
  • Eat healthily, reasonable.
  • Be happy. Not too bad. Having cut back where possible on the boys' activities, realised that for some reason the next month or so is chaotic, with everything clashing. DS1's paper-round (although great for his pocket) really isn't helping either, lol.
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/06/2008 22:48

I've done too much today and I'm feeling it. My feet ache and my tummy muscles hurt. But DS1s birthday went very well, managed to get most presents & cards open and feed Archie and still get everyone to school & pre-school on time. Then spent too long setting up all his bastard-evil-Hot Wheels sets and ridiculously complicated Transformers etc. And took the chicks into school this afternoon (Reception were mostly interested in their poo). [rolls eyes emoticon] And constant stream of visitors between 4pm & 5.30pm resulting in late dinner and cranky children.

So I've had a nice hot shower, exfoliated, slapped on some self-tan and am now off to bed. Hands & face moisturised, feet neglected. Gallons of water, lots of fruit & raw veg. Large slice of birthday chocolate cake.

Quiet day planned for tomorrow. May even try and read this thread.

arfishy · 06/06/2008 03:47

Woohoo! It's Friday. I am back from the gym (yes, I DID find my trainers stuffed into a bag at the top of DPs wardrobe) and my weigh-in. 2lb (so yah boo sucks to you WiiFit), which isn't quite what I'd be happy with, but the zillion calories I ate last week in a series of last suppers, last bottles of wine and last breakfasts apparently don't vanish into the ether as soon as you get weighed on day 1.

Now Bama, you asked if the abusive WiiFit was as bad as Evil Victoria (TM) - the answer is no. The WiiFit is merely abusive. Victoria is EVIL and can turn the resistance and speed up on machines, add weights and try to kill you, all the time looking like she hates your guts [has flashback and quivers].

I've only had breakfast so will report back later.

I am [gasp] at the champagne WWW. How many bottles was that? Although champagne [drool], with a strawberry at the bottom for breakfast.

Glad the party went well Duchess. I never managed to work out transformers. There's nothing more humiliating than being out-dexteritied by a 5 year old.

Hope the ear's better relbang.

YoYo - join me with a glass of wine later to cheer yourself up. It is FRIDAY after all. I am mainlining veg soup for this very purpose. I might even have some before attempting WiiFit hula hooping just for the family's amusement.

JJ · 06/06/2008 08:10

Hi all - don't have time to read through and the damn ads make the site to #$(* slow on my phone to read.

He's ok. The surgery went very well and the rest of it is going ok, not great but not horribly. He has an epidural for the pain and will have that until Monday. He's very down and it's hard to keep spirits up, especially when I'm so very tired. I slept at home last night; I was too shattered to do anything but eat then crash. My husband's at the hospital and I'll take a shower and then relieve him. He'll come back up tomorrow and stay tomorrow night. We have a separate room across the road to sleep in, but JJJr (like the nickname) is not in good enough shape (mentally, especially) to leave for a few hours yet, even though the nurses are fabulous. My mom is coming up with me for a few hours today to get us all cheery again and hopefully make the boy smile. I don't know what we'd do without her. My aunt and uncle and other son (need a clever nickname for him, too) and mom will come up and visit tomorrow and then his best friend will come up Sunday with his mom.

Eating gone to hell - I had a choc chip cookie with a use-by date of April 2009! How wrong is that? I tried to eat JJJr's chicken nuggets but they were inedible - the downside of good eating at home, I suppose.

Wish him luck, some peace of mind and soft poo.

yoyo · 06/06/2008 08:33

Glad to hear that the op went well JJ. Hope he is more comfortable today and more cheery.
I think you can most definitely eat (and drink) whatever it takes to make the days easier!

School walk beckons. Back later.
