All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...especially as it was half term.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

(Narrows eyes suspiciously at Norks and awaits photo with double interest).

WWW - I am being forced to go to a Butlins in August. Part of me keeps telling myself I shall put up with it because it's meant to be great for kids but I cannot quite yet get over my prejudice of, well, maybe it's the Butlins image, not to mention organised activities [quiver of fear and loathing emoticon]. And of course the big thing there is the swimming pool [jelly legs emoticon]. But you are on track, no, for looking pretty good by the end of July? Surely you will be in a much better place than 3/4 weeks ago at the very least? And we shall all rubber neck help you find a lovely outfit, if you dare.

Yoyo - I've never really put in the time on my ball, so to speak, thanks to excessive kids interest in said ball and me deflating it in an angry huff, but I shall try and use my weights with it this week after my visitor has gone (don't want to scare her).

And now I must have my pudding - sorbet on the approved list?

unknownrebelbang · 02/06/2008 22:36

Thanks www, I eat far too much fruit to stop (I eat no little veg, and I've far too much weight to lose to be on phase 1 for just a short time.

  • Sunscreen at all times yy
  • No booze.
  • Walking is important, ahem fell at the first hurdle today, and stayed in bed an extra hour instead - there are advantages to shifts, lol. Did manage about 20 mins on the twister.
  • Lots of water/weak tea.
  • Apply body cream - maybe at bedtime.
  • Use hand cream, lax.
  • Go to bed early, asleep by 11.
  • Eat healthily, yes good day foodwise today.
  • Be happy. Not too bad for a Monday, and first day back at work.

Slightly peeved that DS2+DS3 were given lucozade sport with caffeine over the weekend by my blardy father. I'm not usually precious about such stuff, but - DS3 in particular is still reacting.

Also a bit at reading the comment that someone who is fat should "just eat less". Of course, we all know that. If only life were so fkn simple. Have seen similar before, must be feeling sensitive...

arfishy · 03/06/2008 01:31

Norks - you can fit into last summer's trousers? FFS, I haven't even had a baby and I can't. I had to go into an old lady shop at the weekend to get a pair of jeans that weren't low rise because I was sick of them making my gut look like I was 6 months pg. So now I have a nice comfy pair that hold my gut in nicely. And I feel about 4000 years old. When I have dropped two dress sizes I will torch them and encase my considerably smaller arse in a nice pair of sass and bides or something.

Anyhoo I have to go to work (the outrage!) but I must just say this - Bloody Wii Fit. I dragged it out, it calculated my BMI, gasped in shock, changed my WiiMii into a FATTY and insisted I password protect my account in case somebody sees my stats and makes me die of shame. . I have gone off it.

suzywong · 03/06/2008 03:53

hello
WWW and those interested in IPD my total loss in 7 days is 6 pounds.
I'm over my detox humps and feel good.

Lord knows why I didn't start this months ago as it's perfectly fit-in-able with my lifestyle.

WideWebWitch · 03/06/2008 07:38

Arfy you make me laugh, oh dear at old lady trousers. I sorted out my clothes last week and what a variety of colours! A black sea with the very odd fleck of green.

SW, well done, that's fab. I am v happy with this diet too. It fits with me too and I am getting used to what I can and can't have.

unknown, omg my ds would react to that big time too.

Moonshine, butlins, ooh, good luck!

WideWebWitch · 03/06/2008 08:22

Pecka, well done that sounds like a good day.

Prufrock, well, in the days I used to wear a body I was THIN and had NO MUFFIN TOP and therefore it was fine to have something tight over my flat little stomach! Nfw would I wear one now, now I am a woman of a certain age I go for tops that skim

chutneymary · 03/06/2008 08:34

Well, my first day back on bootcamp was a disaster. Sins included sausage and egg muffin, lardy sandwich and cake

WIll do better today. Off to eat some apples

Hope everyone is well today.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/06/2008 10:36

Just dashing through here - I might not be around later so JJ - good luck for tomorrow. Thinking of you and ds - fingers crossed for a good result and a smooth recovery. x

bamamama · 03/06/2008 11:03

Hello all. I was going to start listing my food in order to shame myself but thinking about what I ate yesterday was shame enough and I can't bring myself to commit it to type!

I did go for a run today though (in the rain as well) so am feeling better for that. I'm supposed to be doing a 10k in three weeks but have done very little training.

I too am horrified by the return of the body. Forget the fanjo wedgie - what about the delightful squashed norks flattened but Dorothy Perkins finest . I won't be going back there again.. (perhaps you could all wear bodies for your meet-up? Purely in order to recognise each other )

I'm going to try out those muffins and 'I'm not the bin' stopped me finishing off ds's dinner so I feel that's a step in the right direction!

Right, as always I'm supposed to be writing an essay....better go.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 03/06/2008 11:12

lol I so glad it's not just me that won't be revisiting the body (they were on the rails in TopShop and also Mango I think if anyone is really desperate to purchase one).

Am of Norks getting into prepregnancy clothes. I'm still trying 14 years on!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 03/06/2008 12:17

Downloading photo's from the new camera is proving beyond me and DH is busy, busy. I've put one picture up that was taken with my phone, which is a bit grainy, but will have to do for the time being! You can still admire Archies considerable head of hair though.

There's another picture below the chicks (minus my head) of me at 39 weeks, I think it's the smallest bump I've ever had - I'm usually MUCH bigger. Nice to end on a good one!

I'm hoping to be able to start walking the dog properly again next week. So will be dusting off the Moron.

Enid · 03/06/2008 12:18

oh I have been terrible for a couple of weeks now

I went out last night to babington house to have dinner with nigella lawson - well she was there and answered questions adn we all ate loads of fattening nigella type food topped off with ice cream with peanut butter fudge sauce . Drank 3 bottles of very expensive wine between 4 of us and fell asleep at about 2am, slept terribly.

I look fat and old

I need whipping back into shape

arfishy · 03/06/2008 12:20

Oh horrors at the thought of a body. They'll be here in 6 months, mark my words.

Today I have been virtuous:

Breakfast - hot oats
Lunch - roll with the dreaded steamed chicken and some curly lettuce. It was revolting.
Dinner - 3 dolmades delivered piping hot by our Greek next door neighbour. I have no idea how fattening they are so restrained myself while DP made slurping and truffling noises over the remainder.
Supper - some of my WW zero point veggie soup, which is actually delicious, especially when I put in stacks of chilli powder. It's my secret weapon in the fight against weekend wine.

No wine, lots of water. Sunscreen. No wine.

Am still trying to get to the gym (NOT Evil Victoria and her 5.30am session) but mysteriously my trainers have vanished. I think I must have buried them or something subconsciously. I suppose I could go back onto the WiiFit but I'm not talking to it.

arfishy · 03/06/2008 12:24

Oooh lovely Duchess! I am at your lovely English country house and gorgeous children and slimline figure.

Enid - oh god that sounds good.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 03/06/2008 12:25

enid - if you feel that bad perhaps you too will be seduced by the India & Neris diet that's sweeping the thread? It sounds divine actually but I'd miss my hot buttered toast too much. And new potatoes. And large bags of Burts crisps.

arfishy is making me laugh so much that I've discovered my pelvic floor must have survived too.

Enid · 03/06/2008 12:26

i have the book

but I think once you follow any diet you are doomed

I just need to EAT LESS AND DRINK LESS AND EXERCISE MORE (note to self)

bamamama · 03/06/2008 12:31

ah, but arfishy - the body may be here in six months but it will be in a 'sale' almost immediately and anyway, how will they (not me obviously) team it with micro shorts..?

WWW - quick question re muffins. What's the ratio of water to cream? ta.

Duchess - Archard is a darling! Am also now suffering (again) from Aga envy.

WideWebWitch · 03/06/2008 12:53

DofN, aah, he looks lovely and that is a great picture!

Enid, envious at Babington and Nigella, wow, sound fab, did you stay there too? I still haven't been. We are going to The Hoxton in July though

yeah, yeah, we all know, eat less, drink less, exercise more. Why is it easier said than done?

Arfy, hmm at trainers, I hope you find them soon.

Bama, the muffins are 120ml each of water and double cream. I had two for breakfast, warmed, they were fab.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 03/06/2008 12:54

chutneymary, I used to love sausage and egg mcmuffins, back when I ate carbs

OP posts:
arfishy · 03/06/2008 13:05

LOL Bama, very true. There will be lots of yellow ones.

WWW and I&N gang you are reminding me of my happy atkins days eating gallons of M&S prawns in mayo and egg mayo with a side of mayo and mayo covered steak with fried eggs on top.

In the end I snapped and had to have a digestive though. IIRC it triggered a bread frenzy and the thought of having to do the induction again was just too much.

WideWebWitch · 03/06/2008 13:09

lol arfy
I am eating mostly fish and bacon and eggs and salad and avocado
so far don't want carbs although had a sugar craving the other day
and am keeping off wine with the thought that it's sugar and not unlike crack

OP posts:
suzywong · 03/06/2008 14:41

today I had
bacon
blue cheese "muffins"
tuna salad nicoise, sans quails' eggs, mais avec avocado
ham and cheese snacks
braised cabbage with mustard
white fish panfried with mushrooms, garlic, brandy, lime juice and cream

It's great

However, ...... my gums are starting to hurt and I am worried I have scurvy. And although I certainly don't want any now, I wonder if I will ever be able to eat crisps again.

Hey Ho

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/06/2008 14:49

Suzywong and WWW - I'm salivating at all of the gorgeous food you are eaten - would love to give it a go but I just know that I am too much of a carb queen not to give in and eat loads of bread and therefore just put MORE weight on.

I will live vicariously through you and pretend my beans on toast is in fact a sausage and egg muffin

PeckaRolloverAgain · 03/06/2008 14:50

eatING even

yoyo · 03/06/2008 15:06

DoNB - he's gorgeous. A perfect little bundle to cuddle and sniff.

Arfishy - you must stop making me laugh so much. I am miserable and therefore not supposed to be chortling!

Prufrock - will be attempting some of those with the ball later. Haven't done press ups with one yet so might give that one a go.

Enid - your night out sounds fantastic. Is Nigella as good looking in real life as the airbrushed version we see so often?

Moonshine - you must let us know about Butlins. I went every year from about 4 until I was 12. DH refuses to contemplate it.

SW - congrats on weight loss. You and WWW are eating incredibly well.

WWW - "I am not a bin" will be my mantra. No more sneaky crisps or crusts for me. No, no, no.

Just off to collect DC. Not raining so will walk. Been sticking to rules today and will continue to do so. Feeling v. committed (again).
