Which clothes retailer going bust would you be most affected by?

I’m not sure as the last ten items I bought were all from different places, but maybe that is the challenge for retailers these days, they have lost their identities and with it their loyalty and clear customer base.

Potentially Next. Turns out I could easily live without M&S.

M and S

Blarn · 18/08/2025 11:09

H&m. I get all my basic tshirts from there and it's great for dds clothes with the adjustable waistbands. Other than that asos as it's where I get different brands of jeans from.

mynameiscalypso · 18/08/2025 11:11

I think if Uniqlo went, that would be the worst because I don’t think there’s something similar whereas Next/M&S/various are a bit interchangeable.

minipie · 18/08/2025 11:11

It would be the DDs who’d be tricky as there’s only a few places that fit their tween size and style - they live in New Look, H&M and Zara.

I wear all sorts, I don’t think I have more than 3 items from any one shop.

RaraRachael · 18/08/2025 11:18

Next. Virtually everything in my wardrobe is from there.
M and S for underwear

Zempy · 18/08/2025 11:24

M and S

Klp122 · 18/08/2025 11:25

Probably Next and George at Asda. Would have been M&S but their clothes quality these days is dire.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 18/08/2025 11:27

M&S for sure.

Yes, they have some rubbish. Yes, their knickers are now useless. However, for basics, jeans, etc. they take some beating, and there is some cracking more 'on trend' stuff too.

I was surprised how much I missed them when we couldn't order.

Seaside3 · 18/08/2025 11:43

H and m. 100%. Almost all of my clothes are from there. And when I used to buy clothes for me, husband and 4 kids of varying ages, I could order everyone's at once.

Sparkletastic · 18/08/2025 11:44

M&S

Ddakji · 18/08/2025 11:46

Fat Face. Especially since I stopped buying M&S’s crappy knickers and switched to FF.

But then M&S, I buy my toiletries from there, plus lots of stuff for DH and DD.

BarMonaco · 18/08/2025 11:50

Next for clothes and pants. M&S for the bras.

shiningstar2 · 18/08/2025 11:52

Fatface. I wear a lot of their dresses. Bravissimo for Bras

shiningstar2 · 18/08/2025 11:53

M and S for husband. He is tall and gets a lot of shirts/jackets/coats from their tall range

Wadadli · 18/08/2025 11:57

Cos. I’d say two thirds of my wardrobe was bought there and I’d be gutted if it disappeared. It used to be Zara but it’s gone downhill since it first came to the UK in the 90s. In fact I still have (and wear) a trousers suit I bought in 2000. Ditto Mango

EverardDeTroyes · 18/08/2025 12:00

M&S
Try as I might, I rarely buy from anywhere else.

BebbanburgIsMine · 18/08/2025 12:02

Yours Clothing
TU from Sainsbury’s
George at Asda

I shop at these stores quite a lot, though since I discovered Vinted I buy most of my clothes there.

FluffyWabbit · 18/08/2025 12:04

Next/New Look

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 18/08/2025 12:04

Superdry and Fat Face.

littleburn · 18/08/2025 12:06

Uniqlo

Sidebeforeself · 18/08/2025 12:07

Klp122 · 18/08/2025 11:25

Probably Next and George at Asda. Would have been M&S but their clothes quality these days is dire.

Edited

I’m surprised that you think Next quality is better than M&S. I think Next quality is shocking. So much polyester, jackets unlined, loose threads etc. It used to be good many many years ago but I think its cheap materials now.

Mand S quality has declined too in some aspects. T shirts so thin for example. But I get most of my stuff from there as its the nearest shop for me.

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 18/08/2025 12:08

Yes, Next. It's been essential in my life since my son was born. Tesco clothes are handy also

Squishymallows · 18/08/2025 12:10

M&S John Lewis

Thistooshallpass. · 18/08/2025 12:10

H and M - nearly everything from there . I find the quality really good overall and the price is reasonable. DD also a big user

Hdpr · 18/08/2025 12:20

M&S (I love their no vpl knickers and lace shorts), John Lewis, Jigsaw
