Which clothes retailer going bust would you be most affected by?

I’m not sure as the last ten items I bought were all from different places, but maybe that is the challenge for retailers these days, they have lost their identities and with it their loyalty and clear customer base.

Potentially Next. Turns out I could easily live without M&S.

Gosh - am really surprised by the votes for M and S ..underwear is good but I still find their clothes a bit dull.
i would miss Mint Velvet, jigsaw, Saint and Sofia ,Hush,

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 18/08/2025 19:25

H&m or Reiss.

Newmeagain · 18/08/2025 19:35

In theory I would love to be shopping designer bargains from places like the outlet etc. In practice recently most of my clothes are from places that make things that actually fit me and suit my lifestyle - M&S petite, whistles petite and Uniqlo. And then a few occasional items from Sezane, Wyse and ME&EM.

Seasalt or Fatface. I can see a time though when it is just Next left as it just buys everything up.

i like Next though

Edited

Yes I like them and M&S

MsSweeney · 18/08/2025 19:58

M&S!

Gwenhwyfar · 18/08/2025 20:16

I'm currently feeling affected by how bad the quality is in Zara. I don't really want to shop there any more, but I have so many things from there.

thenightsky · 18/08/2025 20:24

A shop that's already gone and I'm still missing it - Long Tall Sally.
Next
White Stuff

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 18/08/2025 20:33

Next.

Growlybear83 · 18/08/2025 20:57

I would really miss Sahara, also Next and John Lewis.

hennybeans · 18/08/2025 20:58

M&S, please God, no.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/08/2025 21:29

Crew Clothing (although I am expecting it any day).
Tu

Actually, they have all gone to pieces do much, that i don’t really have a “go to”.

dynamiccactus · 18/08/2025 22:42

Fatface for me.

lilproblem · 18/08/2025 22:53

M&S. I never thought I’d say that but when the website went down I realised how much I used it

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 18/08/2025 23:03

Tu and Tescos. How sad I'm I

RosesAndHellebores · 18/08/2025 23:09

M&S and John Lewis aside, probably Whistles and/or Jigsaw.

I still hanker after Laura Ashley and Bravissimo clothes which are no more.

jamnpancakes · 18/08/2025 23:39

M and S and John Lewis.

Gowlett · 18/08/2025 23:46

M&S / H&M

This thread is really and truly revealing the essence of the entire S&B board …

jay55 · 19/08/2025 10:20

I already replied M&S but I am also mourning the recent closure of Emily and Fin as I got my work dresses there and the quality was great.

Are you trying to diss the choices of posters ? I think people are thinking about the bigger picture here as there are so few department stores left. I don't think many people are going to say some expensive brand which some deem as the bees knees because they don't cater for all the aspects of your life.

Abracadabra12 · 19/08/2025 11:10

Uniqlo

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 19/08/2025 13:56

Whistles, Uniqlo, Cos

CharlotteStreetW1 · 19/08/2025 13:59

Monsoon.

My bank manager would be delighted.

Gettingbysomehow · 19/08/2025 18:04

Next for sure because they sell so many different brands and I can always find something.

SirChenjins · 19/08/2025 18:08

Next - I can order something from the petite range and pick it up the next day, or pick up something in store. It's reliable, cheap and has a good range of clothes and home stuff. I'd really miss it, even though I buy stuff from a range of petite stores.
