Best of luck in the new job - strange how the right scent can give us confidence.
Gypsy water for me today - reaching for this a lot lately. I am also Mrs. Popular in the office today as i brought in some tiny samples to share with the team.

Ebay are bizzarely cracking down on the sale of the mini, 2ml size samples due to fraud/fake risk - whilst leaving sellers free to sell bigger bottles which are much easier to fake. I can't see anyone making much money out of faking 2ml samples. But means as I can't sell them they needed a good home.

Have you tried local facebook groups to sell the samples you don't want to keep?

Mojave Ghost for me today, with the hair perfume in my handbag to top up if needed. I find it lasts good on me - and that's the original, if I spray generously in the morning on clothes.

Edited

I haven't, as the tiny 2mls are barely worth anything so I usually either give to people or include as freebies with bigger ebay sales.

Beginning to think I've made myself allergic to perfume, as I'm getting an itchy skin reaction which has spread from the hands.
It's definitely where I've sprayed so must be linked to the ingredients, likely the alcohol.

Dang and blast! Considering whether oil based may be more tolerable than alcohol based.

Meanwhile I'm wearing a scarf today and sprayed on the scarf. Arabians Tonka by montale today, from the harrods fragrance calendar. Not ready to give up the rice spicy scents yet, and I ove Tonka.

It is unlikely to be just the alcohol otherwise you'd be allergic to hand sanitizer. I'm allergic to something in very floral perfumes, but fine with incense, fruit and woody perfume. I test with caution before buying a full bottle. When I do get a flare up, I won't use perfume until it's gone and then reintroduce safe scents for a good while before trying something new.

Sorry that copied over weird. I'm sure you get the idea. See the other thread for a clean link!

MiaN · 05/03/2025 06:46

The link works great - thank you

North Bondi for me today, bringing the travel size with me

It is likely to be skin sensitivity vs allergy I think

IDontHateRainbows · 05/03/2025 07:06

Very strange, until recently I never had any skin problems and could spray away to my hearts content. Then I got proper dermatitis, had to get prescription cream as the itch was maddening, i had been overdoing.it to be fair.

The dermatitis has healed now but I'm getting a rash/ bumps on the other areas I was spraying on... so something in my body is reacting whereas it didn't before.

Will have to stick to scarves/ clothing for a while methinks. Probably should give it a proper rest for a while but I'm too addicted!
Montake rendezvous chez harrods today which was another from a harrods 12 days of fragrance. Similar to the Arabians Tonka yesterday although I think I prefer it. Spicy, sweet.

I had comments of 'what's that lovely smell' from a manager yesterday in a meeting, even persuaded her to have a spritz
I probably need to calm it at work but so far I've had nothing but compliments and requests for a spritz!

@IDontHateRainbows I always spray perfume into my hair, as my skin is ridiculously sensitive. Might be worth a try?

Magpiecomplex · 06/03/2025 08:33

4160Ts sample of Shazam today. Spicy orange marmalade which doesn't hang around long, even for citrus. Not unpleasant but not worth a full bottle.
It's reminding me of something else, but I can't think what.

IDontHateRainbows · 06/03/2025 08:35

Penhaligon's babylon today. Absolutely beautiful scent, vanilla, spicy but somehow also not too heavy. Perfect for now

OP posts:
IDontHateRainbows · 06/03/2025 08:35

Not usually a fan of penhaligon's but this breaks the mold!

Dior Dune today.

My colleague wore a different perfume - more flowery recently. Apparently someone told her off for wearing a strong perfume. As far as I am concerned, she never wears anything too strong so I dunno but as she is a receptionist I would have thought you would have to be in reception to smell it unless she leaves a trail wherever she goes??? But then I don't like wimpy perfumes|!

MiaN · 06/03/2025 10:17

Ingenious Ginger for me today Goldfield and Banks. I have to be in mood for it for sure, not one for cold weather

MiaN · 06/03/2025 10:18

I like Babylon but it's more winter vibe for me - it's lovely spicy vanilla

It's gorgeous - fb over £200 so I'll be sticking with the samples! Anything similar, perhaps less wintery but in the same vein, that you recommend?

OP posts:
MiaN · 06/03/2025 10:44

Did you say you have the harrods advent? I feel queen of the night has similar vibe, but also wintery.

I am not into vanillas spring/summer. If I have vanilla it will be with coconut more beachy vibe then spicy. however Penhaligons in general seem to create perfumes that remain polite - even if the notes are traditionally associated with heavier perfumes. If you enjoy it wear it

MiaN · 06/03/2025 10:44

Babylon is cheaper in the outlets, and they ship for free.

Ooh I do still have queen of the night in it's box, hadn't got round to listing it maybe I'll keep it for myself. I can always sell as 'sprayed once' if I hate it

Try ingenious ginger. It's not vanilla but it's spicy fizzy slightly sweer ginger type for warmer weather - you may like it

Shazam always reminds me a bit of Youth Dew, but it's like a Gen Z version 😆

4160T here too - Eau My Soul. Like bathing in champagne.

MiaN · 07/03/2025 06:29

It will have to be Ingenious Ginger for me again - that's the downside of spraying your clothes. I am working from home and I will be wearing same cardigan as yesterday - the scent is still there. I think too much alcohol and perfume on your skin is sensitising anyway, I use very little on skin for this reason.

IDontHateRainbows · 07/03/2025 08:18

Left hand: Juliette has a gun vanilla vibes. I know i said I wanted less wintery vanilla but this is a full 180 summer vacay type vanilla - very reminiscent of the beach - wasn't sure at first but it's growing on me. There's a salty element to it so not a sickly sweet vanilla which is good as whilst nice I've had enough of those.

Thank you to @MiaN for the queen of the night recommendation .It's rich and warm and spicy, definitely more for night time! Not sure it will be a favourite but I'm enjoying getting to know it.

Skin condition where I was over spraying has mercifully cleared up - I need to be careful not to overspray again, can forget that perfumes are full of chemicals and skin is a live organ of the body!

For myself, it's Apres L'Ondee time of year. I'm hoarding the end of the bottle. Any recommendations for anything that might be similar? Especially with a violet feeling.
