I'm on a birthday trip with a friend and I may have gone a little overboard! 😳

She's a massive perfume head and the person who got me into fragrance so a complete enabler. 😂

This is my birthday haul, bottom right is all the free samples and everything else purchases.

I debated all day about the Guerlain Tobacco Honey but I adore it and it lasts a really long time. Can still smell it now over 12hrs later from the first tester spray. I've never spent so much on one perfume but oh well, yolo!

A lot of that Guerlain range is really nice. It also got me the Harrods GWP which has a couple of fragrance samples in it too.

The Loewe Escensia is a gift for someone else. I quite liked a lot of that range and they're not too badly priced. The 50ml eau de parfum was £115.

I did go with the intention of buying a large MP vanilla powder but liked some of the others too so went with the discovery set for now. The other two are Falcon Leather and Radical Rose.

Apparently the 20ml size Faces of Francis isn't in stock very often but just one had arrived in stock that morning so I decided that was meant to be.

Portrait of a Lady was an unexpected like so I just got 10ml of that.

I very nearly bought MFK Kurky, I know it's been an unpopular release overall but I really like it. It reminds me of Body Shop scents from my teens but the grown up version. Also nearly bought Fugazzi Cash Flower but in the end both of those were sacrificed for the Guerlain which was about the same price as those combined.

However we're not actually leaving until Sunday so I'm going to need to exercise some willpower.

Happy birthday @OvaHere! looks like a great haul, enjoy ☺️

Went to my local perfume shop today and tried on a couple of fragrances. Mantes La Jolie Astier de Villatte - a green, green, green scent. Smells like mint and basil and freshly cut stems. And Acqua Viva Profumum Roma, a photorealistic amalfi lemon scent, bright and happy. Really enjoying both fragrances.

Mat prem vanilla powder today
Love this unusual take on vanilla. It's a strong one too.

Miller Harris Lumière Dorée.
I used to love this and found a half bottle from a few years ago. Sadly all I’m getting now is strong neroli. None of the other notes. I smell like air freshener!

My favourite one so far is Elizabethan Rose. Boots used to do an own brand rose range of skincare that smelt so similar to this, it’s beautiful

My sample set includes Duchess Rose but not Elizabethan Rose. I'm not a huge rose fan in general but a nice one might be OK.

Shame; sounds like it has deteriorated since you last used it.

RoseTeaLady · 17/05/2025 14:52

I think you’re right. It’s quite dark in colour now.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/05/2025 14:54

Kayali vanilla oud from my perfumista samples. Can't quite decide on this one. It's sweet, like all Kayali, but with depth. Reminds me of lush turmeric latte somehow. There must be oud in there but subtle, the sweet elements dominate. Would consider a 10ml Spray, but not this time of year.

I'm spent up, but if I win the lottery the Kayali oud set would be on the list.

SOTD: Penhaligon's Duchess Rose, as mentioned earlier.

Meh.

Hope this is the right place to ask, loved Paul Smith Rose which has been discontinued. Anyone got any recommendations for similar? Thanks.

I had this in a body wash and body lotion…I’m trying to think of anything I currently have that smells vaguely similar… have you tried Dior Blooming Bouquet?

IDontHateRainbows · 17/05/2025 20:35

Sot evening: graff lesedi la rona vi. Loving this floral vanilla from the harrods ac. Sweet but not sickly, beautiful floral accords.

Sandalwood temple today. I’m on my third travel spray. This is on my full bottle wish list

I bought this for for DS. We went to a uni open day and took a detour to the H Beauty store. He loved it so I surprised him with it at Xmas. He tells me it's his most commented on scent at college.

Hopefully this doesn't put you off as you many not want to smell like an 18 year old but it is really lovely.😂 He leaves a trail through the house on mornings he wears it. Such a nice fragrance.

HolidayHattie · 18/05/2025 18:03

Penhaligon's Liquid Love today. It's not got great reviews on Fragrantica but I do like it. Certainly a lot more interesting than yesterday's Duchess Rose, although it didn't last as long.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/05/2025 18:19

Left hand: crivelli iris malikhan which is a lovely light floral with a touch of vanilla
Right hand: mat prem vanilla powder, I cany get enough of this one, if I had to take only 5 perfumes to a desert island it would definitely make the cut.

I sniffed vanilla powder yesterday and liked it - a coco nutty vanilla. Have you tried neroli oranger?

Zoetrope1 · 19/05/2025 05:02

Molinard Tubéreuse Vertigineuse today. It’s a beautiful, cocooning tuberose scent with coconut blossom and sandalwood. Doesn’t seem to last long but my sample is a dabber and not a spray so that might be the issue.

Not a massive neroli fan, I think I did try it in the sample set and it wasn't for me. I didn't get on with French flower either. Luckily I do really like some of his other scents

Iris malikhan again today. Not too strong as im in the office. Still a bit itchy, but I've found spraying on fingertips rather than wrists or back of hand is better.

The Favourite today. Only just applied it so haven't experienced the full dry down yet. I was uncertain on first spraying but I'm liking it so far.

Octopusespunchforfun · 19/05/2025 17:30

Carolina Herrera Good girl today. A good grab when I can’t decide. Still love it even though it’s so similar to Armani Code.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/05/2025 19:46

SOTE. Left hand: black afgano dupe off Amazon, I don't often get on with dupes but this one is quite accurate. It's a smokey, oudy scent, quite masculine and not one I'd wear a lot of so I'm happy with the dupe. Right hand is vanilla powder again.

The iris malikhan got some compliments at work today, maybe it is stronger than I realized as it was certainly smelled.

Sandalwood temple on one arm, Ani on the other. Both gorgeous cold weather scents but if I had to pick a favourite it would be sandalwood temple.

Edited

Iris Malikhan is beautiful. I really struggle with oud in fragrances unfortunately.
