I really like the new Valaya Exlusive. It's expensive but I may decide to add 30ml to my collection

IDontHateRainbows · 13/05/2025 20:50

Crivelli ambre chromatique tonight. Falling in love with this... the best amber I've tried. Very strong though.

Finished the last of the vilhelm dear polly today - went down far too fast. I'm also have a citrussy moment with it being so sunny - found an old sample of bal d'afrique which I've always failed to see the hype about or why so many people love it, and whilst it's still more of a like than a love I am enjoying it in this sunny weather. Something about sunshine is making citrus scents much more appealing.

I don’t know, there’s just something bright and juicy in bal d’afrique that makes me happy. And it seems to work in all seasons so it’s an easy reach. Do you love the rare beauty version? Or is that just a like? I have a decant of musk therapy on its way which apparently is also a softer version of this DNA.

EA green tea for the gym followed by bal d’afrique today.

I have to say I prefer the rare beauty version - its somehow a bit softer but has the very similar top notes. Just as well really as it's far cheaper!

I have on Je Reviens body spray again.

IDontHateRainbows · 14/05/2025 07:40

Sadly very itchy today, I have to say that since becoming a fraghead around 9 months ago I seem to have developed a skin reaction when I over use - which was never a problem in the past (probably because I never used so much). Its a bit of a bugger really but I guess my body is not happy in being continually doused in alcohol (husband even said - but could you go over the limit if you spray enough? !!!

So I'm taking a break for a few days but will be watching what you guys are wearing with interest and living vicariously through your perfume choices!

Wearing Penhaligon’s Quercus today.

Has anyone tried the Thompson Carter fragrances? Lilium Blume sounds lovely with patchouli, lily and Jasmine, however I normally prefer citrus notes.

HolidayHattie · 14/05/2025 12:14

Sana Jardin Venus of Verbena- a lovely, light, lemony scent but it doesn't half fade quickly.

Magpiecomplex · 14/05/2025 13:10

4160T Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves today. I wanted something quiet but not citrus, and this is just right.

RoseTeaLady · 14/05/2025 15:51

Jo Malone Beach Blossom today. Nowhere near the ocean, but getting lovely wafts of coconut and mojito 🌴

Oh no! I know it’s not quite the same but could you spray your clothes instead?

Nest Indigo today, a sweet and jammy fig and tea scent.

paristotokyo · 15/05/2025 05:39

I love nest indigo, one of my favourites, but the thought of it right now in 40 degree heat makes me feel nauseous! Funny how that works. Decided to just not wear any for now except Ouai body mist if I’m in the mood, as everything feels cloying and heavy here. We are only in this country for a few weeks before moving on so hopefully will be able to resume. Will still be following this thread though as I enjoy the fragrance chat 🙂

Lurkingshark · 15/05/2025 06:17

Air d’ Bretagne from Artisan Perfumeries. At a work event so wanted something light. This was from a Liberty edit and I would have never bought it on smell.

Watery/ aquatic, fresh, bit of light floral. No vanilla at all which feels unusual (but that’s probably just my perfume choices recently).

I get to go sniff duty free later. I did Barron’s on the way out which very nice but I was expecting it to be show stopping.

I've gone for the 'spray on clothes' approch - crivelli ambre chromatique today which is a strong one, and I'm in a massive open plan office (not my usual office) so I know how to make an entrance!

the crivelli extraits are v expensive but I'm hankering after the much more affordable iris malikhan which is an edp - lovely scent for summer, fruity but also quite light and some vanilla in the base.

Incense Water (Sana Jardin) today. No incense, no water, just lots of rose. The profile looks similar to Portrait of a Lady but this is so much sweeter and the patchouli isn't really coming through. Calling it Incense seems like a breach of the Trades Description Act because there's none in it and the other ingredients don't combine to suggest it.

I found the same thing, it's just rose. Not unpleasant, but not exciting.

SOTE: Tiger by her Side. I was expecting to like this - and I love it!

I tried a tester of that last week. I expected to enjoy it but actually disliked it. Most reviews seem to say it's inoffensive, comforting, creamy, but I didn't get that at all. Must be something about the skin chemistry.

Oh I hate skin chemistry! I had the same with D&G Devotion and Burberry Goddess, the reviews on Fragantica made them sound divine but all I could smell was something horrid, savoury and dry in the dry down, actually made me feel ill!

Octopusespunchforfun · 16/05/2025 13:27

Today I’m wearing a tester - Prada Infusion of Rhubarb. Loved it as first was very fresh and fruity it’s turning a bit green and grassy now, which I don’t like.

HolidayHattie · 16/05/2025 15:47

The last one of my Sana Jardin discovery set today: Vanilla Nomad.

Kind of what I expected, not wildly exciting. However, the set as a whole was a success and I'm considering getting larger samples of Sandalwood Temple, Tiger by her Side and, weirdly, Celestial Patchouli.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/05/2025 16:52

Having an oud-y moment - got the crivelli extraits set to sell on and keep the ambre chromatique - got a small sample of oud stallion which I've never got on with before but this time I really quite like it. I've sent the larger sample in the set to my brother as his birthday present - trying to get him into niche perfume - he said he wanted to try oud.

Penhaligon’s The Favourite. It used to smell more powdery on me but it’s quite floral smelling today, could be the sunshine!

I've still got this to try. I might go back to my Penhaligon's discovery set now I've tried all the Sana Jardin.

My favourite one so far is Elizabethan Rose. Boots used to do an own brand rose range of skincare that smelt so similar to this, it’s beautiful
