Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple. Loving it, so far.

Magpiecomplex · 10/05/2025 15:27

4160T Dancing With Strangers today, for a day out in London. Not dancing, however 🤣.

SOTD Pacific rock moss. An aromatic, beachy skin scent along the lines of wood sage & sea salt. My favourite goldfield & banks fragrance. They’ve just released a flanker called Pacific rock flower, I have a sample coming next week - looking forward to trying it!

Let me know please what you think of it. I agree on Pacific Rock Moss - it's my favorite form the brand too

IDontHateRainbows · 11/05/2025 08:00

I've joined the appropriately named scent addict subscription service from fragrance shop. £12 / month for a decent size decant that comes in a lovely reusable case which is much cheaper than scent box albeit not the same range, and designer rather than niche.

This month I had jpg scandal intense, which is lovely but a bit underwhelming. A good Cosy bedtime scent. Probably quite office friendly too.

@IDontHateRainbows sounds like it’s pretty good value!

Mother’s day in Australia today and I was in the mood for something warm and cozy. Went with Poets of Berlin, a green vanilla which smells a little like blueberry muffins.

IDontHateRainbows · 11/05/2025 11:46

Sampled Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Media Forte today. This is a pungent, sharp freshie type scent heavy on the citrus and herb. Not my usual thing at all but I bought the discovery box to sample and sell (Iisted as sprayed once).
It's a bit too sharp for me I think - also giving me a bit of a headached although that could be the multiple aperol spritzes I drank last night! Interesting to try a new thing though.

Favourite freshie today, EA green tea. I definitely over sprayed today and it’s lasted much better this time in the high heat. Wish there was a longer lasting dupe of this though

MiaN · 11/05/2025 13:45

I went with escada Bali Paradise. It is so much what I like to call Hollister scent - fruity, sweet, little young for me perhaps. But on such sunny day for day out in the sun it feels just perfect. I am enjoying it a lot more then I thought I would

Ironic, francis kurkdjian of maison francis kurkdjian apparently made EA green tea and then cloned his own creation with aqua media Cologne. I think EA GT is a bit softer. I do find the aqua media too sharp so not.one for me. It may well be longer lasting. I'm selling my travel size if you're interested!

@IDontHateRainbowsooh, would have been interested actually but I’ve relocated a long way away

HolidayHattie · 11/05/2025 14:44

Sana Jardin Jaipur Chant. Quite like it, but it's aggravating my cough, so definitely not one to wear to the theatre.

I'm about to shower and change then go meet family in a beer garden. Would V&R Flowerbomb be appropriate?

Zoetrope1 · 11/05/2025 23:05

SOTD kayali yum pistachio gelato. It’s a light, floral gourmand scent. An easy wear.

IDontHateRainbows · 12/05/2025 07:24

Pistachio yum is a good one.

As for me, office day today. Feel like something light and citrussy. May go for find comfort from rare beauty which is a softer version of bal d'afrique and made by the same perfumer.

It arrived! Not sure how to describe it exactly but I like it. It’s light and floral, and smells watery. I think I can smell the cocowax and there’s something reminiscent of the original but they are quite different. On first sniff I prefer the original but this is very nice.

Magpiecomplex · 12/05/2025 18:15

L'Occitane Verveine today, I needed the lift of something bright and fizzy.

HolidayHattie · 12/05/2025 20:04

Sana Jardin Celestial Patchouli. Not keen on patchouli but thought I would try it anyway. It wasn't as bad as I expected at first spray. I'll have to see how the dry down goes.

Zoetrope1 · 13/05/2025 02:33

Comparing Pacific Rock Moss and the new Flower properly today. PRM is smoother, softer, balmy and sits closer to the skin. PRF is a fresh, aquatic / watery floral. It’s a little coconutty / sunscreeny and beachy. It definitely shares the original’s DNA but with a floral twist and a little more projection. I still prefer the original, there’s just something calming about it.

I really enjoy this one too!

Hillsaremyhappyplace · 13/05/2025 06:14

Where do you all try these? I’ve just finished MM at the Barber Shop which I absolutely adore for daytime - kind of soapy and leathery with a nostalgic promise of Old Spice (my dad used to wear it 😁). My favourite nighttime is Liz Earle No 15 - it’s so unlike anything else I’ve tried.

IDontHateRainbows · 13/05/2025 09:52

Finished the last of the vilhelm dear polly today - went down far too fast. I'm also have a citrussy moment with it being so sunny - found an old sample of bal d'afrique which I've always failed to see the hype about or why so many people love it, and whilst it's still more of a like than a love I am enjoying it in this sunny weather. Something about sunshine is making citrus scents much more appealing.

Where to try? If you're in/near a big city:: Liberty, Harvey Nicks, Selfridges and some specialist stores in London.

I'm just getting into perfume and live rurally, so I have to buy them online for the most part. Space NK, Cult Beauty, Perfume Society, and the aforementioned stores. Probably others too. And some direct from the perfume house.

HolidayHattie · 13/05/2025 13:51

These just arrived! For anyone who doesn't know, you can get 3 x 1.5 ml samples from Penhaligon's for "free", just pay £5.50 P&P.

It seemed quite reasonable compared to the Discovery Sets and even compared with FSBs, which are over £2 per ml.

HolidayHattie · 13/05/2025 13:52

Oh, it lost the picture. Try again.

Scent of the day part 3 - come and join the friendly perfumistas!

I tend to buy packs of larger samples/travel sizes from various sources (gift with purchase, advent calendars on ebay etc) and sell enough to fund my own habit! Managed to have the opportunity to try quite a few different perfumes from different brands this way.
