Cacherel Noa today. Just a nice soft clean scent.

I tried a tester of that last week. I expected to enjoy it but actually disliked it. Most reviews seem to say it's inoffensive, comforting, creamy, but I didn't get that at all. Must be something about the skin chemistry.

Can you remember the name?

I'm not the one who bought it, but I've read that Lacura Meadow Bouquet is a dupe of Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine.

Also Blush Bouquet => Gorgeous Gardenia
Spring Bouquet => Gorgeous Orchid

In town today for a conference so of course a cheeky visit to selfridges harvey nicks and space nk. I spritzed and loved eauduelle and crivelli Safran secret, out of my price range unfortunately.

Had £5 HN reward points so got a maison crivelli discovery set, 10 tinies for £34. I've had the extraits discovery before this is the edp set. Bottles are a lot more affordable although I'm spent up for now.

Also tried some zara red something or other, their baccarat rouge dupe. Not sure I like the original enough though and i have plenty of bottles rn. Some good stuff there but all very chaotic and higgledy piggledy on the fragrance counter.

Really liking Crivelli as a house and the edps seem a little more palatable than the extraits.

I have absinthe borealis on one hand, this is an aromatic freshie reminiscent of a gin and tonic with lots of juniper. Veey different to my usual thang but quite like it.

Other hand has papyrus moleculaire. I like this one, woody and slightly sweet. Reminds me of mat prem parisian musc.

@ScrabsqueakPaul Smith Rose is my absolute favourite too. I still have my last bottle even though it’s empty, and give it a smell occasionally. It reminds me of my daughter being a baby as I treated myself when I had her.

I would love a dupe of this

Magpiecomplex · 08/05/2025 07:12

Guerlain Pamplelune today. Sharp and bright grapefruit because I didn't get the job.

RoseTeaLady · 08/05/2025 09:40

I’m sorry you didn’t get the job 😕

RoseTeaLady · 08/05/2025 09:41

Flying to Berlin later today, so looking forward to a few sprays at the airport.

Harvey Nicks spring GWP is out. It has a few perfume samples in it.

https://www.harveynichols.com/events/rewards-beauty-gift

I saw that and wasn't too impressed - two fruity oudy ones, why put in two so similar? I've tried verticaloud before and didn't like it, and I don't as a general rule like fugazzi. Think it will be a no from me - I have a few perfume sets I'm struggling to sell on ebay so can't really justify any more purchases until they shift.

MM Beach Walk on left wrist. Don’t like the opening - think it’s the heliotrope? But the dry down is lovely.
MM From the Garden on right. I smell like my greenhouse in summer! Tomato leaves. Love the smell, but not necessarily on me, if that makes sense. OH says he can’t smell much, so hopefully I’m not being antisocial on the plane.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/05/2025 19:10

I have been really disappointed with the GWPs and edits this year - feels like we've had the 'golden age' and this years offerings are very poor in comparison.

I remember harvey nichols giving a bag full of around 10 decent size mini perfumes a couple of years ago - in fact that's partly what got me into the whole perfume thing - this was a GWP with I think around £120 spend.

Now you have to spend a million bucks to get a tiny crappy GWP

And Liberty did some amazing bags/edits last year some of them just perfume at around £120 with beauty drop discount for a lovely liberty bag of 8-10ml samples. Now these are nowhere to be seen - I know they have done some beauty edits but they are quite poor in comparison with maybe one or two if you're lucky travel size perfumes.

What the hell is going on??

@IDontHateRainbows

I agree. Harrods, Liberty etc. have been underwhelming for the spend. The Cult Beauty edits on the other hand have been fab and really low cost in comparison.

Potentially, but it's early days still. Fingers crossed though.

Fenwicks have a beauty bag with £180 spend and it's much better than harvey nicks. An interesting sample from fragrance du bois and lots of other goodies.

Herrera very good girl elixir today. I'm mixing up the designer frags with the niche. This is lovely, juicy berry top notes but dries down into something yummy with depth.

Wfh today so will test and spray to my hearts content!

I've still got the cold but I wanted to try something new yesterday. Didn't want to waste one of the high end ones so I went with Dive by Saltworks. The main notes are lavender and eucalyptus so I thought it would be appropriate. Unfortunately it smelled medicinal or like a cleaning product, rather than a perfume. A definite no.

Tonight I'm supposed to be going out. I'll have to see how I feel but, if I go, I'll wear one of my Merchant of Venice perfumes; probably Imperial Emerald.

HolidayHattie · 09/05/2025 19:16

Decided I'm not going out so am trying some of my samples which arrived today (yes, more!)

Vyrao Witchy Woo
Vyrao The Sixth
Sana Jardin Revolution de la Fleur
Sana Jardin Berber Blonde

The last of these instantly transported me back to my mid teens when my French exchange partner arrived with a bottle of O de Lancome. I'd forgotten I ever had that perfume, but I swear the opening of Berber Blonde was identical.

Samples finally arrived first on is Nasumatto Black Afgano - it is quite similar to my beloved Mumbai Noise, the same smoky, oudy but slightly sweet effect. I don't think it quite tops Mumbai Noise though but is a very good runner up.

Next up is DS and Durga Deep Dark Vanilla. I'm glad I only got a small sample of this as I'm not a fan. It smells slightly like the bottom of a pet cage to my nose- dank, animalic - no vanilla and definitely no sweetness. DS and Durga can be truly innovative and I've enjoyed a few of their scents a lot - but I guess you can't like everything particulary with an arty, experimental brand - so this one is a no .

I'll let these settle in a bit before trying the other two, vanilla diorama and kayali vanilla oud later.

I was reading through an old thread from last year (still trying to educate myself and get some ideas.) You were on there, saying you don't like vanilla! LOL

SOTD Pacific rock moss. An aromatic, beachy skin scent along the lines of wood sage & sea salt. My favourite goldfield & banks fragrance. They’ve just released a flanker called Pacific rock flower, I have a sample coming next week - looking forward to trying it!

IDontHateRainbows · 10/05/2025 11:39

Bombay Radio by DS and Durga today. I like this but it's a bit - feels a bit unfinished or like it needs something else to add to it. It's not an enhancer but it has that feel. May add a bit of vanilla or something and see how that works.
