I have, in fact my Maison Matine was from there. It's a fab place and I have had great service from them, but it was just too far a walk!

Zoetrope1 · 28/04/2025 22:17

@fromthevault sorry you had such a disappointing shopping trip 😔. Into the Wild sounds divine!

@IDontHateRainbows The original Gris Chanel is one of my favourite perfumes. How does the extrait compare if you also have the original?

The extrait is very similar. I bought the sample on a whim, if I'm.honest it probably wasn't worth it as it was v expensive.

So today I'm falling in love with Graff lesedi la rona VI which was in the harrods fragrance calendar. How to describe? It's light and deep at the same time. Some sweetness but not overpowering so. Profile says it has oud in but must be very light and expertly blended, as it's not an obvious oud scent. Smells expensive.. I think the fb are but I'm happy with my advent calendar sample!

Ordered some vanilla samples from perfumista.... durga deep dark vanilla, kayali vanilla oud and dior vanilla diorama . Also a tiny sample of black afgano which I've heats is like my beloved mumbai noise.. supposed to smell of hash!

On to my second love of the day already - Dear Polly by Vilhelm Parfumerie. It can best be described as 'lemon iced tea' - perfect for spring not too zingy, think this is my favourite of the Vilhelms I've tried so far.

Still want to get a custom discovery kit from vilhelm but spent FAR too much on frag this month so will have to wait a while.

Dear Polly is one my favourites too. What have you short listed for the custom discovery set?

Zoetrope1 · 29/04/2025 11:59

EA green tea for the gym this morning followed by my new fav - tubereuse astral. I’m falling more and more in love this scent - it’s intoxicating and comforting at the same time.

Deathraystare · 29/04/2025 13:44

Je Reviens body spray. Quite a light powdery one. More for mature women I think but I have liked it since my Nan wore it. Will put a lot of you off from that description but I prefer the older perfumes to the newer modern scents of ultra vanilla and mega syrupy stuff enough to give you diabetes or in my case make it worse!!

Deathraystare · 29/04/2025 13:46

p.s I am a mature woman!!!!

TheLongRider · 30/04/2025 10:40

MP Radical Rose - it works better as a Spring/Summer scent for me. I prefer it to Portrait of a Lady, I think the berry note in POAL puts me off. I'm still not convinced that it's full bottle worthy but the sample size will keep me going for a while.

IDontHateRainbows · 30/04/2025 11:33

Durga Bombay radio + mp parisian musc today. Combo works really well to my nose, the parisian musc softening the bombay radio, which is a bit too harsh on its own.

Wearing Delina today that I got in the Selfridges edit. It has a lovely clean, fresh smell. Like I've just soaked in a bath with rose scented bubble bath. Very nice for a lovely spring day.

It's very expensive so not sure it's unique enough for me to want to buy a full bottle as there are many rose scented fragrances out there. It's nice though and does capture the genuine scent of roses quite well.

Magpiecomplex · 30/04/2025 18:26

Histoires de Parfum 1725 today, the Casanova one. Lavender and anise, which sounds weird but really works as a unisex warmer weather scent.

HolidayHattie · 30/04/2025 21:09

Variations on Good Girl on wrists and elbows: Good Girl, Very Good Girl Elixir, Good Girl Blush and Blush Elixir. I'm embarrassed* to say that I like them.

*Because I find the shoe bottle totally cringe-worthy.

Which is your favorite? I've only tried vgg elixir but quite liked it

I think Blush Elixir. I'm not good at describing scents, as you know, but VGG Elixir seems sweeter to my nose. Blush (not elixir) has already completely faded so I can't smell it any more.

Also I'm sitting next to a vase of lilies and their scent is overwhelming everything.

CorneliaStreet · 30/04/2025 21:40

I’m currently reworking my way through the Tocca discovery set I got for Christmas. These are definitely warm weather scents - when I first tried them all in January they all smelled pretty much the same and/or of not very much at all, but now I can really tell the difference between them. Pretty much all variations on the fruity or fresh floral theme though.

The only one I’m not really liking so far is Cleopatra, which has a distinct musky base note that I’m not keen on.

Zoetrope1 · 01/05/2025 01:00

SOTD philosykos, my favourite fig scent

IDontHateRainbows · 01/05/2025 08:11

Feeling in a vanilla mood - wearing the very last of the babylon sample - i love this scent but it's just too weak, I can smell it when I first spray it but then it just doesn't seme to last. Also some mat prem vanilla powder which I adore.

I have my vanilla samples from Perfumista on the way and also some Guerlain Bosca Vanilla which I smelled in store and loved, and found a great deal on allbeauty

Strange as I was never into vanilla before, think I had memories of very cloying and sickly vanilla scents from the 90s - but I love it now and it's one of those safe scents in terms of not being too controversial in public.

The perfume shop was closed for siesta when I went, so nothing for me today. I might have bought something, too. Their loss.

Zoetrope1 · 02/05/2025 06:30

Trying piano santal today. It’s a creamy, milky, musky sandalwood with bergamot. The dry down reminds me of sandalwood temple. I’ll give this a good go but I think I prefer sandalwood temple.

Zoetrope1 · 02/05/2025 07:10

To add, I’m not a fan of the opening but the dry down is really nice

HolidayHattie · 02/05/2025 08:16

Various duty free squirts. I'm liking Alien and Spicebomb. Daisy (the basic one) is OK. Don't like Noa by Cacharel.

IDontHateRainbows · 02/05/2025 08:53

Mugler Alien Goddess today - this is a nice, easy light summer scent. Perfect for the weather.

Don't judge. Its 2 pm, I have fluffy socks and jammies, and Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille and I am ready for some downtime. I am not feeling the best and craving the comfort. The irony is that while I only wear it as downtime scent, I love it so much - it is likely one I will repurchase.
