I did the speediest visit to selfridges ever today on my way to somewhere else and only had time to sample le labo eucalyptus and I loooooove it
initially. Not what I was expecting but it’s so very nice. Not medicinal smelling which I was expecting. Will be great for hot weather. Think this will be my
next purchase depending on the longevity

Ah I want to try this one, apparently it smells like their hinoki body care range.

How I miss living in London and being able to casually drop by Liberty, Selfridges etc!

Zoetrope1 · 25/04/2025 23:21

Boy smells woodphoria on the wrists - pencil shaving like sandalwood with a hint of coconut. And d’annam white rice in the elbows - a lovely skin scent reminiscent of l’eau papier. I get the steam
coming off freshly cooked rice and something lighty sweet and powdery, the iris i think.

4160T Aqua Tofana today, I'm going to be outside with lots of people so I wanted something unobtrusive but interesting. The fact that it's named after and inspired by a poison is an additional plus. Grin

Crivelli Ambre Chromatique. This one is a grower! I've never been that into amber before but I think this is the one to start me off! Lovely warm amber scent, beginning to like Crivelli as a house, still some strange ones that my nose doesn't get on with but I'm liking this and the tuberose astrale in particular. Strong projection and sillage - not one for the office!

anyone who wants an 'olfactory journey' kind of experience I recommend this house and they do the discovery kits in small and large sizes.

Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet. The citrusy floral notes dissipated very quickly leaving just a pine/ herbal scent, which I actually like.

Blingismything · 26/04/2025 20:25

Magentism by Escada today.

IDontHateRainbows · 26/04/2025 20:39

Vanilla powder and mumbai noise tonight. Oldies but goodies!

Angel’s share today - delicious, boozy apple pie. Perfect for autumn!

Perfumer H Rain Cloud for me today - from one of the liberty scent kits last year (how i wish they'd bring some out this year)
Not one I loved at first but I'm quite liking it now - there's a citrussy feel to it but it's not a zingy in your face citrus. And yes it does have a 'rainy' feel to it - not sure how they do it - but it's got a refreshing watery feel. Does that make it an aquatic? Not sure but I'm liking it. Won't go in my top 10 but perfectly pleasant when I want a bit of a change.

I've also got a sample of Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royal - I have a love hate relationship with Kayali, rating the pistachio and vanilla 28 but finding a lot of them just too sweet. I'm not a massive rose fan but I'm trying to develop my taste for florals and this has pear in it which I love, so I thought I'd try.
It's supposed to be a 'poor man's' delina, but having not tried delina I can't comment.
Verdict - it's nice, very pleasant and probably a good introduction to rose/ easy rose for those who aren't rose fans. Good for spring/summer. Nothing earth shattering but the fruit (pear/peach) goes well with the floral (rose/peony) . Willl probably be one I wear to the office as I'm trying to avoid wearing the really strong and out there ones at work

This one sounds intriguing!

I have 10ml of it. I do think it's nice but probably wouldn't buy a big bottle. I don't think it's much like Delina from memory but I'll have to do sniff comparison.

I've just got Delina this week btw - there's 10ml in the Selfridges Big Day edit box and was the main reason I bought the box.

Ha! The kayali fleur was in the smaller bridesmaid box. I did think about the bigger box but not being a rose fan I wasn't bothered about Delina and there was only a lip gloss I liked the look of from the other stuff.

Sot evening is MM afternoon delight. I keep going back to this one, so yummy but ridiculously sweet. Feel like I just want to inhale it!

D’Annam white rice again for me

RoseTeaLady · 27/04/2025 22:55

SOTD was Creed Wind Flowers from a Cult Beauty edit. A mess of white florals, which was gone in 2 hours. Glad it was just a small sample.
Currently wearing Pink Pepper, an M&S cheapie. Very pleasant vanilla and amber dry down.

D’Annam white rice again for me

And EA green tea for the gym, for some reason it’s smelling sweeter, spicier and less citrus fresh today. Enjoying it!

Obeseandashamed · 27/04/2025 23:14

SOTD was Reef 33 - sweet & summery with a mystery around it as I’m usually a woody/spicy kinda girl.

Magpiecomplex · 28/04/2025 07:13

4160T Dancing With Strangers today. Light violet and rose lipstick scent, very nice, although quite fleeting.

IDontHateRainbows · 28/04/2025 09:27

Sana jardin vanilla nomad. I decided I do quite like this. It's a light vanilla with herby elements.

Clarins Eau Dynamisante today - one of the first perfumes I ever wore regularly back in the 90s, and a complete classic.

I was in London over the weekend and did Liberty. Was completely ignored at the Le Labo concession whilst the assistants cooed over a couple much younger, more attractive and wealthier-looking than me. I was willing to splash quite a bit of cash and they spent nothing, so...

Also visited the 'new and improved' Bloom in Covent Garden, which was a huge disappintment. The staff used to be so knowledgeable and the stock was fantastic. Now it's just a big echoey overdesigned room with staff who have no clue about perfume and half of what I wanted to buy was out of stock. I guess I'm becoming a grumpy old woman but I came away feeling very pissed off! I hate it when I want to spend money and no one wants to facilitate me 😂

fromthevault · 28/04/2025 16:24

Good news - grumpiness temporarily abated with the arrival of the Maison Matine discovery set! Cute, fun packaging and although I've only tried 3 of the 11 so far, they're all hits.

Most interesting is Into the Wild, which is a spicy green ginger with hints of chocolate. Sounds a bit much but is (to my nose) very enjoyable and quite unusual. And whilst it's definitely got a sweetness, it's not a cloying gooey gourmand. Really like this one.

I've also got Avant l'orage on my left wrist, which is a peppery tonka with benzoin - not mind-blowing but soft, creamy and very wearable, and Poom Poom on my right wrist which is a fruity floral (rose, orange, kiwi) but averts the curse of the Pink Minger with a musky vanilla base. Good stuff.

Lurkingshark · 28/04/2025 18:36

@fromthevault have you been to les senteurs? I haven’t but have heard good things about service. I like wandering around liberty but selfridges was just too much.

edited for SOTD wild vanilla orchid by floral street. Meh.

SOTD Gris Charnel Extrait from fragrance samples uk
Lovely but doesn't seem as strong as it should - not sure if it's just me - I do have a fear with sample services that product could be watered down but all their reviews are great so I think if that was the case people would be saying it.
