@paristotokyo I love it, it’s citrus and tea and I find that it’s simultaneously energising and calming. And the combination sort of smells like pear to me. Perhaps it doesn’t smell like pear exactly but gives that kind of soft fruity vibe.

I think it’s quite a polarising scent though - some people find it screechy. Wulong Cha X is also lovely and a little softer / more feminine with a magnolia note.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/04/2025 08:18

Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple today. Forgot how much I like this, sweet creamy woody. A rare Sana that I like!

FYI on Rare beauty body spray. I found the nozzle a right pain.

SOTD Byredo Animalique- I’m using up my samples but this is much nicer than I remember. Gentle leather, bit sweet, slightly baby powdery and violet ( which i smell in a lot of byredos). Not a purchase but nice enough.

I went down the just my look rabbit hole and got presents for the household/ me😁

IDontHateRainbows · 16/04/2025 10:06

A WFH day which means it's time to get the samples out! I'm sure the office is sick of me going in smelling like the beauty hall at selfridges every day so trying to calm it at work.

I've got Kayali Pistachio on my other hand- this was one of the scents I was in to before I got really in to scents if that makes sense (ie, when I could count the number of perfumes i had on one hand) and it is a gorgeous nutty gourmand.

I've also purchased the very good girl elixir I had a sample of, as John Lewis are doing a deal (i'm such a sucker for a deal) £10 off £80 AND 15% off - so I got it for around £55 instead of £70 something and bought some face powder I'd run out of to take it over threshold

It's still a horrendous waste of money in a COLC but - hey - we all gotta live, right

Hoping my liberty beauty drop lands today - there is an atelier sample in there which apparently smells like Vilhelm mango skin - sounds interesting.

4160Ts Sexiest Scent today, nice, cheerful, unchallenging citrus and vanilla.

Zoetrope1 · 16/04/2025 10:54

@IDontHateRainbows I love sandalwood temple,I think I’ll purchase a full bottle once my travel sprays run out. Please report back when your beauty drop lands!

OvaHere · 16/04/2025 11:48

@IDontHateRainbows The Atelier is nice, very sweet, but the Bibi really grew on me after wearing it yesterday evening to the extent I bought a 10ml on Vinted. I think this one might have been in the advent calendar so a few people will be familiar with it already.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/04/2025 12:51

The BD arrived! I like the atelier - the other one of theirs I was familar with was the tobacco volute which was in a liberty scent kit - it was lovely but quite heavy for this time of year. This is a bit lighter but still sweet, which I like. It's a yes from me! Not tried GOT yet.

Before the BD landed I had also tried santal calling from ex nihilo which I REALLY like, i'm not usually a patchouli fan but i'm liking the patchouli tones in this one. Plus of course it has a woody feel to it, from the sandalwood. Haven't been so keen on some of the other ex nihilos in the discovery set so it's nice to have one that's a 'hit'

Two 'hits' in one morning, how lucky am I??

Going for £26 for all 3 on just my look. Bargain!

SOTD:
MMM Jazz Club on my left wrist and Autumn Vibes on my right. Jazz Cub is intriguing; I can't decide whether it suits me or not. Didn't like the first hit of Autumn Vibes but it has mellowed to something lovely. I like these three much more than the spring/summer trio so thanks for the link to the good price. I might even get two.

fromthevault · 16/04/2025 18:31

My Beauty Drop hasn't arrived yet 🙁

Edited to add SOTD! Heeley Hippie Rose, which is a great patchouli rose, slightly green and sour if that's your vibe (and it is mine) but turns warmer and more powdery in the drydown. I've not worn this for ages but it's a good 'un.

Zoetrope1 · 16/04/2025 23:06

The L’Artelier sounds nice. Ghost of Tom is very similar to Dear Polly (same perfumer)

Zoetrope1 · 17/04/2025 01:33

Another warm day in Melbourne, Molinard Thé Basilic for me. It’s similar to Torino 21 with basil, mint, citrus and tea. Very refreshing, perfect for a hot day.

Molinard is a great affordable French house. I visited their museum in Grasse and have a number of their fragrances now, highly recommend if you’re ever in the area.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/04/2025 10:53

GOT is quite similar to DP, maybe not as citrussy....happy with both

Bdk rouge smoking today, but I have treated myself to good girl elixir which I'm picking up from john lewis soon. Early Easter treat and a rare bigger bottle ( 30ml) as I finished the sample.
Not a fan of the cheesy shoe bottle but it's not a deal breaker!

Esprit de Cassis by Saltworks. Green and leafy at first then the fruit starts to come through. Not getting the cedar and rosewood yet, but there's still time.

OvaHere · 17/04/2025 17:44

Kayali Deja Vu White flowers. It doesn't seem to get much love compared to other Kayali scents but I think it's underrated. Floral with a hint of sweetness - perfect for a nice spring day.

You've reminded me I have a couple of Saltworks sets waiting for my attention!

paristotokyo · 17/04/2025 21:30

@Zoetrope1thanks for your review on wulong cha, I’ll see if I can test it out. Really love citrus and tea right now

Zoetrope1 · 18/04/2025 01:02

Molecule 01 + ginger layered with + mandarin today, really enjoying this combo

MiaN · 18/04/2025 06:36

I tried Bois Talisman Dior Prive and I am shocked it's so disliked. In the same time - I don't love it. At least not in this season. I may try it again winter time but when it comes to smokey vanillas I like Babylon better..

However in general I am really impressed how smooth and refined/lux the perfumes in this line are. I have more foundations ordered and they are sending few 10mls to try. I sprayed one spray on my skin before bed - I can still smell it.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/04/2025 06:53

Matiere Premiere Santal austral today. Creamy, woody Sandalwood. Similar to his other wood scent, bois debene, but a bit softer. I do love wood notes in perfume.

If I could only choose one house to buy from I think matiere premiere would be it. Not a massive range of scents, and they are not complex blends, each being centered around a main ingredient, but there is some top notch perfumery going on here.

I really want to try the new Chanel chance splendid, although I am certain I won't like it. Go figure!

I think we will be heading to phenalgin's outlet later, I wills see if they have last year's advent. I will be tempted if they do

HolidayHattie · 18/04/2025 11:40

@IDontHateRainbows
Do you wash them off several times a day? i think you had four or five different ones the other day.

SOTD for me: Trussardi Passeggiata In Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II Trussardi; I was given a tiny sample of this& another when I bought Merchant of Venice perfumes.

I like this. Don't know how to describe it. It smells slightly old fashioned but in a good way. Quite complex. I wish my nose and vocabulary were sophisticated enough to do it justice.

paristotokyo · 18/04/2025 12:07

@Zoetrope1I have both of these and will try this out 😀

Depends if they fade. If I can still smell them, yeah

I use hand cream every night as it can be harsh on the skin!

Staying with a perfume-allergic mate so nothing at all today. Gives the skin/ nose a rest!
