Wearing the Vol de Nuit I bought yesterday. It really is lovely, although Fragrantica suggests it's a shadow of its former self. I don't think I could commit to a single perfume for the rest of my life, but if I could choose a single perfume house, it would definitely be Guerlain.

I think I agree. Vol de nuit, Mitsouko, Shalimar, Apres l'ondee, L'heure bleue...hard to beat!

Not so keen on the newer Acqua Allegorias and endless Petites Robes Noire, though.

SOTD is 4160T Bodhi Language, which I always wear when I have a yoga class.

Quite excited for the newest Liberty Beauty Drop box, which looks good on the perfume front :no spoilers:

Tested lazy sunday morning (loong time since I had one of those!) from the sample set. I get why some people may like it but it just smells like fresh laundry to me, like I’ve walked past a laundrette and that’s not what I want in a fragrance. I’m enjoying this discovery set though

Magpiecomplex · 14/04/2025 22:27

@fromthevault I'm very fond of Pamplelune, which I wear when I want people to go away and stop bothering me, but I tend to agree about most of the Acqua Allegorias.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Moon Carnival today - tuberose and vanilla. I’m not usually a white floral person but this was my wedding scent

Zoetrope1 · 15/04/2025 06:51

Bianco latte this afternoon. When I first received my sample I hated it. It smelt so laconic in a really off putting way. Months later, I can now smell the caramel vanilla notes that people love this scent for. It’s not for me but I can see why people like it.

That sounds lovely. I'm getting some samples from Vilhelm next month as they do a custom discovery kit, that will defo be on my list

Byredo Mojave Ghost today - the original. The absolu was a disappointment as not quite the same. Sense of smell seems to be back to normal

I originally went off this as its so fleeting, like a ghost, but it really is a gorgeous scent - sweet but deep with a woodiness I can't describe.
I've layered using the body lotion and I'm not expecting it to last all day, but i'm in the office today so that's probably to my advantage. I've had a few 'what's that lovely smell' comments which whilst they were complimentary, means that my perfume was shouting rather than whispering which I don't really want at work.

Finally, a use for Byredo!

Jo by Jo loves by Jo loves perfume today (not sure about the name… 😂) on this dreary day to perk me up. Zingy grapefruit settles down in a more woody grounding scent

fromthevault · 15/04/2025 13:17

Tauer Phi une rose de Kandahar today. Ekeing out the last drops of my bottle. I so wish he still shipped to the UK!

fromthevault · 15/04/2025 13:27

You may all be way ahead of me but I've not seen it mentioned upthread - is anyone familiar with Godshot Studios in Glasgow? They look to have an interesting collection of brands, including a good selection of travel sizes. I am very tempted to get myself a 14ml of Imaginary Authors' Slow Explosions as I love it but would probably not need a FB...

MiaN · 15/04/2025 13:58

Xerjoff Tornio 21, gorgeous citrus freshy but maybe slightly masculine

HolidayHattie · 15/04/2025 15:10

By the Fireplace today. Please don't all roll your eyes; I know it's not appropriate for spring, but I've bought the MMM Replica 2ml Discovery set and need to try the three autumn/winter ones so I know whether to get the 10ml set.

This is so smoky! Yes, I know the clue is in the name, but all I got at first was smoke and burnt wood. A bit more spice coming through now.

MiaN · 15/04/2025 15:20

We don't roll eyes on perfume choices around here!

AprilLady · 15/04/2025 15:32

@fromthevault Les Senteurs stock Tauer perfumes. It’s not cheap, but they have Phi Une Rose in stock. I’m currently eyeing Au Coeur du Desert. I’ve had quite a good month eBay wise, so may yet cave and get it.

AprilLady · 15/04/2025 15:33

SOTD is Diptyque Philosykos. Another one that doesn’t last very long, but remains my favourite fig scent.

paristotokyo · 15/04/2025 17:05

@HolidayHattieI spritzed on by the fireplace last night before bed so no eye rolling here! I really love the smell of it, agree that it’s very smoky but it settles nicely. But I’d prefer it as a candle I think. My favourite candle is feu du bois by Diptyque so similar vibe

Going for £26 for all 3 on just my look. Bargain!

I also firmly prefer the original Mojave Ghost.
By the fire place is so smokey. I prefer Jazz Club out of the 3 (by the fire place, jazz club, autumn vibes). My DH has travel, and I love it on him but wouldn't by it

CorneliaStreet · 15/04/2025 18:32

I used to absolutely love By the Fireplace but I find the smokiness when first sprayed a bit much these days. I still love the dry down though, it’s really comforting. I do like Jazz Club, probably prefer it to By the Fireplace now. Not really a fan of Autumn Vibes.

Did they discontinue Whispers in the Library? Loved that one.

MiaN · 15/04/2025 18:49

I ordered full bottle of Miami Nectar with 20% off plus another 10 euro off. I feel it will be summer scent for me, although I regret little that it only becomes stronger after having it for full year! My travel is nearly gone

MiaN · 15/04/2025 18:55

Re sunflower pop being like washing liquid - I don't use the yellow much, it smells like fanta to me. Not something I will buy in full size but will enjoy the travel. It got sweeter with time, even less fresh.

I often hear males not liking citrus, and citruses smelling like cleaning products. They aren't universally popluar. In cold weather I actually find them annoying tbh. But spring and summer, I love me a good citrus. Not sunflower pop but I have long list of favourites.

Magpiecomplex · 15/04/2025 20:20

@MiaN I'm a big citrus fan too, although I draw the line at smelling like Fanta!

Zoetrope1 · 15/04/2025 22:59

Another citrus fan here - it’s the middle of autumn here in Melbourne and I’ve packed away my spring and summer fragrances. But it’s 28 degrees today, time to pull out wulong cha I think!

paristotokyo · 16/04/2025 00:34

@Zoetrope1ohh I’ve been eyeing up wulong cha! What’s your thoughts on it?
