I’m tempted to try this, especially as SpaceNK has 20% off right now. However Fragrantica lists violets as a middle note and that’s making me hesitate. How strong is the violet in this?

Heads up. I just got an email to say Sephora is having a sale next week. If you're a Gold member it's 25% off and early access on the 17th.

RoseTeaLady · 13/04/2025 13:21

Thank you!

Magpiecomplex · 13/04/2025 13:45

Oops. I've just bought a bottle of Guerlain Vol de Nuit EDT. Got a couple of Juliette Has a Gun samples with it too.

Sunflower Pop floral street. Smells like Fanta

DH said I smelled of lemon washing up liquid when I wore this. I couldn't disagree.

HolidayHattie · 13/04/2025 14:32

Yesterday I wore MMM Replica Bubble Bath on one arm and When the Rain Stops on the other. I liked the latter but not enough to buy any more of it. Find it hard to describe, I can't distinguish all the different notes, but it's a pleasant summer fragrance.

Bubble Bath started off cloyingly sweet - more bubble gum than bubble bath imo. Dried down to a very coconutty smell on my skin, which is weird because it's not supposed to have coconut in it. Definite piña colada vibes. Smells cheap and girly. Very disappointed; what am I supposed to do with 10ml of this?

Edited to add: I see that Fragrantica says Bubble Bath does contain coconut. Glad I'm not going mad! Don't know where I saw that it didn't.

Today I'm wearing Beach Walk, the final one in the set. This one is supposed to be coconutty but it's more subtle to my nose. From the name I expected something fresher, the scent of the sea, but there's none of that. So far I'm liking it but it's still early.

Bonsaibaby · 13/04/2025 14:41

Very new to liking perfumes and have only ever worn coco Chanel, but recently have been obsessed with the smell of flowers like hyacinth and sarcocca (?). Thought I would try and find another perfume I liked and randomly stumbled upon flora in Oliver Bonas which I absolutely love. Can’t stop sniffing it.
Just been on holiday in Morocco and went in a herbal shop smelling different scents and realised I love jasmine and neroli I think. Can’t believe I’ve got this old and not really been at all bothered before!
i haven’t read all the posts but will enjoy reading and also would like to try a perfume making workshop or something so will be looking out for that!

I don't get any violet. It's akin to bda, but not as sharp.
Are you sure you are looking at the right RB as there's more than one fragrance. I think the newer one is peachy tho.

Have you tried dear polly by Vilhelm parfumerie? Lovely lemony black tea scent

Yes - I have a full bottle of Dear Polly, it's one of my favourites!

SOTD Chanel Misia. Love a lavender perfume.

Thank you. I wonder if I did look at the wrong RB on Fragrantica? I think I’ll order from SpaceNK and check it out.

I tried good few newish perfumes in stores recently

I tried good few over the weekend. Not fan of Afternoon Delight Replica. I was very surprised by Kurky Maison Francis Kurkdjian, I was expecting it to be way sweeter. It's not one for me but it's nice. Miami - scrubber to me. The 3 limited edition Sol De Janeiro sprays - the blue one was the nicest for me but won't be buying it

I tried most of that long list I posted month back apart from

Iris Bleu Armani
Never-ending Summer Maison Margiela
Blanche Absolu Byredo
Moonlight Cherry Van Cleef & Arpels
Valaya Exclusif Parfums de Marly

AprilLady · 13/04/2025 18:46

@fromthevault Chanel Misia is lovely, may favourite violet/rose/iris scent.

The Jo Malone did indeed only last 3 or so hours. I have reapplied as it is very pleasant.

Kurky sounds interesting. The only other one of MFK I've really liked is gentle fluidity gold, the others were a bit hit and miss.
Afternoon delight is a strange one. I feel like I shouldn't like it, it's quite simplistic and the kind of thing I'd expect in a cheap teenage celebrity type scent. But something in it keeps pulling me back. Ultimately it feels quite linear and whilst nice, not particularly sophisticated or artistic.

I'm wearing the very similar to bal d'afrique rare beauty find comfort. Made by the same perfumer. I think I prefer it to bda, it's a but softer. Never quite got on with bda.

This sounds great. Do you have the EDP or the body / hair spray? I’m tempted to buy the lotion to layer with BdA

I have the edp that was in the set with the mini lotion before Xmas. Think it's sold out now

Kurky sounds interesting. Not a big fan of MFK’s sweeter / ambery fragrances but I do like some of the freshies ie Aqua Media Cologne Forte and Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte

Zoetrope1 · 14/04/2025 02:52

Ingenious ginger - I like it but don’t love it. There’s something in the dry down that smells dusty and more masculine leaning to my nose. I guess I prefer my ginger to be zingy and fresh.

Also received a free sample of Tocca Lucia - it’s fresh and floral. Enjoyable but I wouldn’t purchase. Top notes are Sea Notes, Lemon, Mandarin Orange and Grapefruit; middle notes are Fig, Fig Tree, Rose Water and Geranium; base notes are Fig Tree, Vetiver, Cedarwood and Tobacco.

MiaN · 14/04/2025 06:12

I have ingenious ginger to my son as I too found the drydown masculine.

Magpiecomplex · 14/04/2025 10:06

Wearing the Vol de Nuit I bought yesterday. It really is lovely, although Fragrantica suggests it's a shadow of its former self. I don't think I could commit to a single perfume for the rest of my life, but if I could choose a single perfume house, it would definitely be Guerlain.

IDontHateRainbows · 14/04/2025 10:40

Not feeling well today and my usually lovely perfumes smell weird. Really hoping it's not covid although usually that means no smell rather than weird smells. Oh no, May have to go without anything for a few days, but I'll be living vicariously through everyone else's SOTDs

Oh no, rest up and feel better soon @IDontHateRainbows

IDontHateRainbows · 14/04/2025 12:22

Strangely, I have a hankering for zingy citrus scents which usually I find too astringent/ tart. Maybe I need the really strong ones to be able to smell anything. So I've got some bal d'afrique on and considering cracking open the mfk petit matin sample which just won't sell. The bda is hitting the spot for now.

Travelling to London for the next couple of days, I'm looking forward to visiting various perfume shops. Currently wearing Acqua di Parma Arancia di Capri fresh orange cologne that won't disturb my travelling companions.

paristotokyo · 14/04/2025 16:52

Philosykos diptyque today, love this for spring

RoseTeaLady · 14/04/2025 18:23

Jo Loves Rose Petal 25 today. It’s nice enough, but has no depth. Just pink rose petals. I caught a burst of lychee on spraying, but that disappeared quickly. I’ll finish the tester, but wouldn’t buy a bottle.

IDontHateRainbows · 14/04/2025 19:24

SOT evening is bdk rouge smoking. Gorgeous comforting cherry-syrup scent. That makes it sound sickly, which it isn't at all. I've had a break from bdk, but I do really rate them as a house. Pas ce soir is the only one I didn't like.
