I bought the Delina Eau De Parfum today after getting a sample in my JL advent calendar fell in love with it. Pre ordered to duty free at Heathrow and got 75ml for £211 quite a big purchase for me as I buy most of my clothes from Sainsbury’s!! But I’ve fallen in love with it and decided to splurge!

IDontHateRainbows · 07/04/2025 09:21

Outcast Blue by Ex Nihilo again, from the discovery set. Already had someone mention it at work (in a nice way!) and I didn't think it was that strong. Hopefully i'm not becoming nose blind!

I have so many samples and discovery sets stashed away from purchases over the last few years, so I am making a determined effort to sample from what I already have. Yesterday was Dior Holy Peony - a very pleasant, easy to wear fruity floral, more rose than peony, but probably not worth the premium price.

Today is Tauer’s Au Coeur de Desert - and it is just wow. Rating is one of the highest I’ve ever seen on Fragrantica (4.5) and I’m in agreement. Less dry and a bit more sweet and balsamic than L’ADDM, but with the same DNA.

@sageGreen81 enjoy Delina! In my view it’s an easy wear at any time, so you’ll get lots of use and enjoyment from it.

sageGreen81 · 07/04/2025 10:39

Yes @AprilLadythat’s what I thought and it will look pretty too! I got a good sized sample tbh from JL and body cream

Penhaligon's Luna for me this afternoon. I finished off my North Bondi travel in the morning. Shame it's so weak, lovely scent boy can't justify purchasing it

@IDontHateRainbows I love Rehab from Initio. It's beautiful and very unusual. I am also tempted by Atomic Rose.

Oops I mixed up Initio and Ex Nihilo. I always do that and I don't know why as they look/sound completely different!!

MrsBnow12 · 07/04/2025 18:23

@MiaN I also had Penhaligons Luna today 😀

Its fine because i actually have the Initio Initiations selection box too! I haven't got round to trying them yet as trying to eke it out. But they are on my list

I'm falling in love with the delectable Faces of Francis by Vilhelm - got the liberty advent calendar on ebay at pretty much cost price, most will go on sale but I kept a few things back for myself and this was one of them. It's a gorgeous woody, powdery scent. I can smell something fruity in there too although that's not in the fragrance profile on fragrantica. Lovely scent, and a good intro to Vilhelm.

@IDontHateRainbows i haven’t tried that one - how would you describe it?

Parisian Musc today, I really love this scent.

Shiny new thread for those of us obsessed with perfume, or who aren't obsessed but just like wearing it.

I'm on the Byredo Gypsy Water this morning which I got in the box set of 3 minis. Lovely fresh citrussy scent which is a welcome change from the heavy vanilla and smoky spicy scents I've been into over the previous months. I am very seasonal with my perfumes so this is hopefully taking me in the direction of a long awaited spring. Let's see how long it lasts as Byredo are not known for their staying power.

If you like it try “Juliette’s got a gun not a perfumel”

also Tocca Collette. Unreal

Overhaul54 · 08/04/2025 06:43

Can anyone help with the perfume dupe I just bought please. It’s Royal FM 903 - Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.

I think Portfino was the one I liked but this just smells like strong soap/ cleaning fluid.

Is it the dupe, the wrong Portifino or the wrong scent entirely?

I like distinctive/complex multi layer perfumes. The Portifino I remembered was was softer and had layers of sun tan cream , sea breeze and citrus. Or maybe it was another Tom Ford entirely. In fairness I didn’t like most of his perfumes when I tried them in duty free but there was one.

And what do I do with the yucky dupe please? EBay it ?

Parisian musc is a favorite of mine too. Faces of francis suprised me, it was a fruity powdery scent with some vanilla on the dry down to my nose, but the scent profile is quite different. Maybe I'm just not great at describing them!

Think dupes are very hit and miss and once you've tried the OG it can be hard to get something as good in my experience.

I go for decants over dupes if I can't afford the real thing, perfumista does a lot of TF at around £30 for a large sample, lovely glass atomizers too. I can't bear the cheap plastic ones.

Thanks. I only bought it to help out my friend really.
I’ve been unable to find anything to replace Fendi. I don’t want that 80’s vibe but it smelt expensive and a bit different.
It’s all so generic these days I’m finding. Nice enough but too easy.

Zoetrope1 · 08/04/2025 07:29

@Overhaul54 I have a sample of neroli portfolio - it has cleaning product vibes to my nose - it’s quite astringent and masculine leaning.

Could the fragrance you like actually be soleil blanc? That has suncream vibes and is softer and more feminine.

Mmm actually it could. That was my second choice but I knew one I liked and one I didn't ...guess I remembered the wrong way round!

Thank you. I'll check that one out just for price of mind.

I couldn't disagree more - there's a huge range of fragrances out there but only if you think outside the box and go niche. Liberty ,Selfridges and Harvey Nichols have a wonderful selection - it can be a bit daunting at first but I got into it through the perfume sample sets and advent calendars, I still avoid buying full bottles but have managed to open up a whole new world of scent in this way.

Yesterday: Fugazzi 'Angel Dust' - soft, powdery, but with a woody/skin-musk edge that stops it being too sweet.

Today: DS&G 'I Don't Know What' - honestly couldn't see the point of this when I first tried it but happy now to have it for days when I need to feel put together & professional.

Magpiecomplex · 08/04/2025 09:40

Trying out Sana Jardin Incense Water today. So far it's just another rose scent, not doing anything special.

sageGreen81 · 08/04/2025 12:09

realised it’s the Delina Marley Exclusif it seem slightly deeper in its smell. My autistic ten year old could probably describe the difference better than me.

paristotokyo · 08/04/2025 13:27

Elizabeth Arden green tea nectarine blossom. A nice easy wear. Not groundbreaking but subtle enough and very cheap so works well as a gym fragrance. I prefer the OG green tea though. Tested MM spring time in the park on one hand earlier as it’s a big departure from what I usually go for (usually hate white florals) but this one really surprised me and I found it to be very pretty and wearable. Think the pear note really helps round it out. Will enjoy the sample but won’t rp

PickledPup · 08/04/2025 14:53

Pistil by Miskeo (sample) today. It has a lovely sherbet 'texture' and a not overly sweet floral pollen scent (to me anyway). I like it, but it's not a me fragrance unfortunately, so not going to be a love.

IDontHateRainbows · 08/04/2025 16:21

Maison Margiela Afternoon Delight today- it's a sweet gourmand, supposed to be like a madeleine cake! It's lovely but somehow feels a bit too simple and I can see myself getting bored with it after a while so not one to RP

I love all the perfumes by Sana Jardin. Gorgeous scents that actually last! Truly sustainable and support female harvesters to become economically independent. I am yet to choose my favourite from their discovery set!
