A squirt of Rhubarb and Rose by Molton Brown. Loved the shower gel. This is rather 'quiet' but I can still smell it if I sniff my wrist! Got as a sample from Sephora.

PickledPup · 03/04/2025 11:23

Lolita lempicka for me today! Seeing as the weather can't make up it's mind, a vanilla liquorice combo will do nicely :)

potplantsinparadise · 03/04/2025 11:29

Aesop 'Rozu' - green fresh rose, something herby and vegetal about it (in a good way - I feel so slow at being able to describe scent). Doesn't last so long but lovely - if not for the price, could imagine this being one for heavy rotation spritzing in summer.

paristotokyo · 03/04/2025 12:35

Picked up my Ouai st Bart’s order from
JL and obviously had a good mooch around the fragrance section. I smell very fragrant but no idea what is what as I was spraying to my hearts content 😂 I randomly picked up the replica memory box discovery set only to find out it’s reduced to £21.60 at the til (usually £36!). They are OOS online but they had only two sets left in store. Very pleased with that, used a gift card so it was freeeee

IDontHateRainbows · 03/04/2025 16:27

I did visit the selfridges perfume hall after my conference.
Only really got tempted by Maison Crivelli as they had the discovery sets. Why the other houses don't have them on sale I have no idea as I'd buy em all!
Got the small discovery set at £39 for 6 x extrait plus wangled 2 extra samples by talk of leaving a good review!!

Maison Crivelli is a strange house to my nose, quite complex scents and they seem to lean heavy on the leather and oud.

Spritzed Hibiscus mahajid on my hand before leaving, which was also one of the samples. Didn't like it at first but now I'm in the 'keep sniffing it to see if I like it or not' phase. Definitely a grower. I like it for the unusual-Ness that's for sure. Not in love, but appreciating the opportunity to broaden my experience.

Having the discovery set, I'll try the others for the experience too. But not sure this is an easy house to get on with straight away.

Love this one ❤️

little bit of Penhaligon's Luna pm. I am feeling more like myself again! This is made for spring, it's lovely

Another Aesop fan here, a shame they don’t do fragrance discovery sets. their body and band lotions are also divine.

Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhan today. A green iris vanilla. The opening is a little different (intriguing, border line off putting) but the dry down is beautiful and I find this such an addictive fragrance - I can’t stop sniffing my arm.

They do, I bought discovery set from Space NK

Had a moment of weakness today and bought travel sizes of Merit Retrospect, Glossier You Fleur and Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose Royale.

I've been wanting to try the Merit one since it launched in the US so I've been waiting for it to come here and be in a travel size.

The other two I can't justify really as they just fell into my basket. I hope I like at least a couple of them.

Zoetrope1 · 04/04/2025 01:16

D’Annam Vietnamese Coffee for me today - photorealistic coffee, a little sweet and ambery. I like the scent but not sure I want to smell like coffee on a regular basis

Sounds lovely. I like a coffee scent.

Working from today which means time for testing samples!
Hibiscus mahajid by crivelli to start. Didn't like this at first but there's something compelling about it.

I enjoyed the Iris one although Didn't get much vanilla from it if I'm honest

I have also put Alien ExtraIntense on but despite supposedly being a stronger version I think I'm getting a bit noseblind. I do like it though - tuberose as a note is definitely growing on me and I'm not usually a florals girl.

Aesop 'Eidesis' - which I guess is putting an Aesop twist on sandalwood? Earthier than some of the other sandalwood fragrances out there, perfectly pleasant and inoffensive but doesn't last so long.

paristotokyo · 04/04/2025 10:17

M01 + mandarin again today, really like this even though I know these types of fragrance aren’t hugely popular in this thread. Really lovely opening of a juicy mandarin and settles down in a hard to describe way, but it’s very addictive. Doesn’t feel like it lasts long but then I’ll get a random waft of fragrance throughout the day

Magpiecomplex · 04/04/2025 10:48

Ånd Båre today. Cedar, pine, fir and rosewood, but mysteriously somehow avoids smelling like toilet cleaner.

paristotokyo · 04/04/2025 15:47

Trying replica beach walk from the memory box. Not liking it unfortunately, might be a scrubber. Opens very synthetic floral and then settles into a straight sunscreen scent. Really artificial and I’m not much of a floral fan. I was hoping for a
coconut/salty, warm skin in the sunshine sort of thing.

MiaN · 04/04/2025 17:01

Drop of Oriana PDM sample - and used it up in the bathroom. I sold the 30ml form Harrods advent and it was the right move -not for me.

These arrived today. Early thoughts-

Merit Retrospect - I can see why they named it that. The second I sprayed it I thought of my Mum in the 70s/80s which made me feel a bit emotional tbh. It's very old skool. It's grown on me through the day and it's not like anything else I have in my collection so I'll use it for that reason. Unsure at the moment if I would purchase again.

Kayali Fleur Majesty Rose - Surprised how much I like this. Sprayed it these evening after the Merit had worn off a bit. It's very rich and creamy, turkish delight ish. Quite a bold smell. Not sure yet of the longevity, Kayali can be hit and miss on that score.

Glossier You Fleur - Only sprayed this in the cap at the minute so will try on skin tomorrow. Initial impressions are I quite like it. Very much a spring floral vibe. As a first impression it's third place to the other two at the moment.

Zoetrope1 · 04/04/2025 20:12

@IDontHateRainbows Hibiscus Mahajad was a scrubber for me, just way too strong. I gave it away but perhaps I should’ve given it another shot.

@paristotokyo Im not a fan of their standard lines but I do enjoy the M+ range. I have the patchouli, mandarin, ginger and black tea. The ginger is my favourite, really zingy and refreshing. I also like to layer the mandarin with vanilla fragrances

Zoetrope1 · 04/04/2025 21:31

BDK Rouge Smoking today - a powdery sweet cherry vanilla, kinda smells like root beer. Not my usual type of scent but I’m enjoying it

paristotokyo · 04/04/2025 21:37

@Zoetrope1that’s good to read as I’ve got the ginger on its way to me! I love ginger generally so thought it would be a good one. I had the black tea and at first it gave me pure PG tips vibes but I tried it again and it was really lovely and more complex than I thought initially. Unfortunately, I gave it away but regret it now.

paristotokyo · 04/04/2025 21:43

@Magpiecomplexthanks, that sure does sound lovely! I’ll see if I can find a sample..

I did end up scrubbing off beach walk and tested sailing day instead. Much prefer it, very aquatic. Not a love but will use up the sample. Sampling first the types of fragrances I don’t usually go for as I’m trying to branch out
