'Sand' by änd fragrances today; have to be in the right mood for it but today I am :) Realised that it reminds me of the 'Skinny Dip' shower gel by Lush, which was clove, white chocolate, violet and clary sage I think? Sand is banana (! but it works), sandalwood, cardamom, and resins, so I guess resonates with that sweet spicy woody scent.

Deathraystare · 26/03/2025 11:24

After decades of avoiding 'green tea', (I loved it but got sick of it), I am wearing Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Cocoanut Breeze. A very nice scent for warm weather. I am wearing it today as I could not find what I wanted to wear and new it would be hot at work (I have the fan on and am still sweating!).

MiaN · 26/03/2025 19:39

I bought way too much in Lanzarote!

Few 30ml winter wishlist Lost Cherry Tom Ford and 30ml Mon Guerlain, 30 ml D&G Devotion Intense

For the males in the family- Blue de Channel EDP, Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Prive as main gifts. Gucci guilty love latest edition for males and Ralph Lauren Polo 67. They will have to decide who gets what

And for me for the summer 30ml Escada Bali Paradise- it was really cheap. Sweet fruity juvenile bit I thought for the price I can be in mood for something like this some days. Gucci guilty love for her 50ml again great deal - both I wouldn't pay full price

To be honest it's designer heaven here. Merchant of Venice, Montale, Mancera and Aqua di parma too. I asked for beachy coconut scents in few shops without ylang-ylang and they had nothing. So St Bartsz and Miami Nectar don't have much competition

Zoetrope1 · 27/03/2025 05:53

Treated myself to a new fragrance today - tried bal d’afrique on one wrist, eau duelle on the other. Different vibes but both lovely, I went with bal d’afrique.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/03/2025 07:24

Eau duelle sounds interesting, one I've been meaning to try. It's a light vanilla?

Jpg la belle today for me. I think this is the only one of jpg I really like. The others don't smell particularly distinctive. This is lovely, pear and vanilla two of my favorite notes.

I'm becoming a fruitaholic with my choice of perfume this spring. Ordered the 50ml sunset hour from fenwick as it was on offer. After saying no full bottles unless special occasion like a birthday.

I know I will use it tho

@IDontHateRainbows yes it’s a light, slightly spicy vanilla. I really love the dry down. It’s in the same wheelhouse as Ani but I think I prefer Ani.

I must try La belle - pear is one of my favourite notes too

Zoetrope1 · 27/03/2025 09:26

@MiaN what a fab haul! Sounds like a fun trip

Sounds like it may be similar to Penhaligon's babylon, which I love but can find a bit weak or fleeting. Maybe my noseblindness but I feel like I'd have to bathe in a vat of it to get it to actually last and still be able to smell it a few hours on. Ironically they do do a hand/body wash in that scent but its ££££.

eau duelle may go on my list for samples

Shower with Lush 'Grass' shower gel then DS & Durga 'Cowboy Grass' is a v nice combination; just need some sort of grassy/woody body lotion to top it off.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/03/2025 20:06

Sot evening is ariana grande mod vanilla. I do like a sweet, comforting scent at bed time. This one is sweet but not sickly.
Sunset hour arrived, but will save for tomorrow

OP posts:
Zoetrope1 · 27/03/2025 23:04

Sunset hour is a little too sweet / girly for me but I absolutely love it layered with Pacific rock moss.

A fig day for me today - philosykos with a little spritz of Vilhelm purple fig on each wrist. Philosykos is a big love - photorealistic fig tree. If only it lasted longer!

Im not so sure about purple fig - there’s something in there that’s not working for me. The opening is a little harsh or perhaps it’s that it’s a little aldehydic

Zoetrope1 · 28/03/2025 06:17

Ani this evening - I think this is my favourite vanilla. It’s smooth and slightly spicy with ginger, cardamom and bergamot

paristotokyo · 28/03/2025 09:09

EM01 + mandarin. Ooh this is lovely. Fresh zingy mandarin on the opening but has settled down really nicely. Weird as it sounds it has a bubblegum sort of scent and it really reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on. Enjoying it anyway

Haven't tried purple fig, but ds durga debaser is a lovely sharp fig scent, worth a try if you haven't already.
The sunset hour gave me a skin rash so back to Fenwick it goes.... not sure I thought it worth the price tag anyway. Miami nectar from the latest space nk set is a good alternative and didn't bring me out in a rash.

I've got santal austral from matiere premiere in today, it's very similar to bois debene, maybe a little gentler.

Gucci Guilty Love for me today. It is listed as lilac opening but I am getting very smooth, slightly like violet candy - but not as dense or as sweet but some resemblance. It's very soft. I am enjoying it more then I thought I would

IDontHateRainbows · 29/03/2025 11:42

Alien ExtraIntense for me today. Wasn't so sure at first but it's grown on me. There's a tuberose note in it - tuberose is one of those notes that can either work well or not, but I seem to like it enough in this,

Zoetrope1 · 29/03/2025 20:43

@IDontHateRainbows i do have debaser and agreed, it’s a lovely green fig tree. Reminiscent of Philosykos

Zoetrope1 · 29/03/2025 21:58

Green tea by Proad, a Thai house, today. Beautiful green tea with jasmine and some citrus. Really cosy and calming

fromthevault · 30/03/2025 10:31

EL Private Collection today. It was one of my late mum's favourites, so I'm wearing it for Mother's Day.

IDontHateRainbows · 30/03/2025 10:49

Mat prem Santal Austral on one hand - love this scent, it's woody but not too sharp

On the other I have very good girl elixir, which is quite strong and fruity - i got it as a freebie, not sure I'd have bought it.

I love reading about perfumes! I’m wearing Victoria Beckham’s San Ysidro Drive. It’s so
summery but unisex. I love it. Treated myself after a tough year.

I’ve also got Tom Ford Velvet Orchid which has lasted for ages.

I guess both of these are quite heavy, right? I’d love to find something a bit lighter but I am always so overwhelmed by the choices out there.

I lean more to Cherry and musky type scents. Wouldn’t it be great if someone came to our homes and offered a service to explore different scents!

Magpiecomplex · 30/03/2025 12:39

4160Ts Dancing With Strangers today, a mother's day present of a 30ml bottle. Very nice indeed.

potplantsinparadise · 30/03/2025 12:57

@HighLineGal Maybe try with some of the skin musk scents? Musky, but much lighter and cling to you. Glossier 'You' is the obvious one, also Le Labo 'Another 13', DS & Durga 'I Don't Know What', and Phlur 'Missing Person' (though this one might not last so long).

If you like cherry you may like BDK rouge smoking? It's not a heavy perfume, quite sweet and reminiscent of cherryade but not sickly sweet IMO

I have been naughty and ordered some new things

Mugler alien goddess intense -a blind buy, but comes with a try me first sample so if I hate it I can send it back
then bought a 10ml sample of mat prem santal austral as my original sample is nearly finished
Then got a maison margiela shower gel, comes with a small bottle of afternoon delight which is what I really wanted.
