Has anyone bought anything lovely in the ME+EM sale?

I love their clothes & thought i might start a chat for other fans of this brand.

I'm tempted by a couple of dresses but hoping there might be further reductions as currently at 30%

I have 4 dresses bought last year & I've worn & loved them a lot.

Please tell me what gorgeous things you've bought

unfortunately I cannot wear them at all asthey make me look like a wife of a Conservative Party MP 😄😂 , my SIL looks lovely in the clothes, but for me it does not work

may just be my face

i look ridiculous in Boden too

Does anyone have a recommendation for a retailer like Me&Em or Sezanne that does petite sizing?
As I get older and the young ones get taller, I am struggling!

Gettingslimmer · 12/01/2025 07:06

Op, Hugo boss trousers are naturally longer, not sure if that’s as they are German, but I’m five seven and usually have to take them up.

RingofBrodgar · 12/01/2025 10:54

Really happy to see a Me and Em chat as love the brand. Discovered it last year and haven't looked back. Great quality, love (most) of the designs, love the level of detail on the garments. Have picked up quite a few bits on Vinted (dresses) and have bought blouses new and in the Summer sale. Couldn't resist a few blouses new blouses this month but now on a year's no buy, followed by a low buy so I will be shopping my wardrobe from now on Smile

MeandEmLover · 12/01/2025 12:12

@RingofBrodgar I seem to be moving away from lots of the other brands I used to buy from & I'm buying more & more from me+em..

So far I've mainly bought dresses & trousers but I'm looking at the blouses now.

Which ones did you buy?

I bought another few things last week. This pale blue blouse which I can't wait to try but it's not been delivered yet. www.meandem.com/cotton-voile-soft-bloom-print-blouse-blue-light-cream-multi
And this white shirt that I like but the arms are a little long so I'm 50/50 about keeping it www.meandem.com/cotton-lace-trim-blouse-soft-white

@sunshinechaser they are beautiful shirts! I hope the blue one fits you perfectly when it arrives!

I have long arms (tall) & often have the opposite problem.

OP posts:
sunshinechaser · 12/01/2025 15:14

@MeandEmLover me too! I'm 5ft 8 and have long arms so I don't think this shirt would fit most women unfortunately.

RingofBrodgar · 12/01/2025 17:52

@MeandEmLover
I went for the green blooms blouse, the black with blue and khaki floral design, a white blouse with cardigan to go over and the cream belt. Am delighted with it all. I had ordered with the intention of only keeping a couple of things but they are too nice! The burgundy floral shirt was despatched separately and is due tomorrow.
I know I will get a lot of wear from them all, as the blouses work for any smart casual occasion/ lunch with friends/ dinner on holiday etc. Won't wear to work, though as they are too nice and too delicate. That's my clothes budget for the year blown, hence shopping my wardrobe for the rest of the year Smile Would rather have a small number of good quality items.

@sunshinechaser I love both of your choices. Shame about the arms though on the white shirt. Can the cuffs be worn rolled up? The detail on the shoulders is so pretty and I would imagine the diagonal lines are very flattering.

MeandEmLover · 12/01/2025 18:38

@RingofBrodgar oh wow! I LOVE all of your choices & i can see how you will get lots of wear for different occasions.

I also think you're right to keep them for personal wear, not work. I sometimes do that. I wear things outside of work & when I get a new item I downgrade the original to work wear & that works very well for me & ensures I get lots of wear out of my nicer clothes

It works for shirts, blouses, knitwear, some trousers & skirts & some shoes/ boots.

Love ME And EM, excellent quality, and beautiful tailoring.
I’m in Ireland and so the exchange rate hurts and prices has creeped up over last few years, so I have to keep purchases to sale prices but they always have a large selection of items on sale throughout the year.

picked up these for WFH, really comfy, I reluctantly changed them today so they could go in the wash.

These in sale in December and got a few wears over Christmas.

and this, have yet to wear it but will be packed for a few days away next week

Edited

Yes, totally agree re their price conversion policy. Makes things ridiculously expensive and does smack of opportunism compared to many other brands.

EasterIssland · 12/01/2025 20:18

Thanks op love the brand tho haven’t bought anything for a while (trying to save money atm). But love a few of the suggestions in here

Newventures · 12/01/2025 21:10

Oh I have admired these clothes for two years and not bought any yet. I’m a size 14 with big boobs so sometimes a 16. Has anyone mid / large size liked their dresses, tops or the cords?

I wore a lot of their tops and dresses when I was a size 16/18 and found them generously sized and flattering.

RingofBrodgar · 13/01/2025 06:15

The sizing is pretty generous. They say on their website that clothes are cut to skim not cling. I am a size 16, but 14s are usually a great fit on me. I buy a 16 if the sizing information says 'straight' or 'slim' cut.

MeandEmLover · 13/01/2025 07:22

I also find the info they give on each item re sizing is accurate - they'll say 'relaxed fit, take usual size' or 'fitted so if between sizes take size up' etc

This can vary -The belt on my size 10 dress only just does up. That is my widest point, but it’s still not generous, it could do with an extra couple of holes. Im not a 12 squeezing into a 10, I’m an 8-10 with a 10 waist.

Annoyingsquirrels · 13/01/2025 12:29

What is their sizing like for smaller people? Going by their measurement chart their size 4 seems to be a M&S size 10-12 so there appears to be nothing for people size 8-10.

I'm a 10 and usually wear an 8 in Me and Em so if you are an 8/10, I think 6 should be OK? I wear S or XS in their tops, but they are usually deliberately oversized.

devilspawn · 13/01/2025 14:51

Are you on commission for them or something? That your username is named after them and all your posts are very generic and a bit salesy (e.g. re the fit) sounds like you work for them or their marketing agency.

MeandEmLover · 13/01/2025 15:01

@devilspawn no, I don't work for them!

I just like the clothes & enjoy chatting to others who do too & seeing what people are buying. It's not really that strange a thread on a style & beauty forum where there are lots of threads about specific brands (Toast / boden etc)

Since I have bought a few different things over the past 18 months I answered how i found them to fit - is that ok?

I changed my name as posted other more personal stuff under another other name.

The other threads aren't strange, but yours isn't ringing true, sorry to say.

MeandEmLover · 13/01/2025 15:55

I'm a middle aged woman who works in an office who happens to love these clothes. Nothing more than that...
