Has anyone bought anything lovely in the ME+EM sale?

I love their clothes & thought i might start a chat for other fans of this brand.

I'm tempted by a couple of dresses but hoping there might be further reductions as currently at 30%

I have 4 dresses bought last year & I've worn & loved them a lot.

Please tell me what gorgeous things you've bought

Good morning everyone!
We had friends visiting over the weekend so I didn't get a chance to reply.

@RingofBrodgar I think we are absolutely style sisters as I love everything you posted in that outfit photo!

And I want it all! I adore visiting galleries too..sounds like a perfect day out to me & you were so well dressed 😍

@minipie & @Verite1 love that skirt & really hope you can get yours repaired! You were lucky you didn't break your neck tripping on the stairs.

@blueshoes some of the longer styles might be too long & I think they could be awkward to take up as they have he dipped hem towards the back in a lot of cases. But some of the shorter styles could work?

@notwavingbutdrowning1 I love those boots! What do you wear them with?

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 20/01/2025 11:20

@MeandEmLover I wear the boots mainly with dresses and skirts as, despite my best efforts, my skinny jeans are looking a bit dated now. But I do tuck straight-leg jeans into them. They look great with a slip skirt or with anything well above the knee. I have quite chunky legs but because the boots are cut wide on the leg they are very flattering

Good to see a Me and Em thread. I have mixed feelings about their clothes currently: too voluminous, too pastel, too much polyester, and way too long (I’m 5ft 2). But still a few gems. I recently treated myself to these boots. Still expensive, even in the sale, and I didn’t need more boots, but I love them so much and have worn them practically every day since. They’re very well made and really roomy and comfortable for my wide feet.

They are gorgeous!

Matgeosam · 21/01/2025 21:25

I bought lovely wide trousers last year that I live in. I’ve been lusting over a winter coat but it’s still not gone on sale. Does anyone know how long they have stock as current season?

sunshinechaser · 22/01/2025 08:13

@Matgeosam oh what wide leg trousers do you have? I'm on an eternal search for a perfect pair!
Can't really answer your question about stock-it's all quite variable. I've seen things I like and try and buy them a week or two after launch and they've sold out. I would think if a winter coat was going to go on sale it would happen after winter.

Doubleraspberry · 22/01/2025 08:20

I’ve got a pair of their pleat front wide leg wool trousers, which are wonderful.

I notice that for months their sale trousers have mostly cargo type, across all the various trousers styles. Clearly the Me&Em customers weren’t impressed with them!

I LOVE Meandem.com ❤️ 😍 💖

RingofBrodgar · 22/01/2025 21:26

@MeandEmLover I did think we have quite similar tastes from reading your post on brands you like!

@Verite1 @minipie I was tempted by the ginkgo skirt, but wasn't available in my size. I have a shirt in the same fabric which I bought last Summer in the sale. I've worn it lots as it goes with both black and brown.

@blueshoes I love the dresses you have picked, particularly the red one. Have you tried it yet? What are your thoughts?

Really interested to see the posts on trousers. So far, I've stuck with dresses, tops, knits and a belt. Being 5' 5'', I had always assumed they would be too long, so good to have the shorter lengths flagged. When my self imposed shopping ban ends, I would like to invest in a pair of M and Em jeans and a pair of wide legs.

I have found Vinted / EBay really good for picking up Me & Em dresses. I have only had two unsuitable ones - one was misdescribed and the Vinted seller refunded, while the other just didn't suit my colouring, so I sold it and the buyer left feedback to say they loved it.

In case anyone is interested, I've attached some Whering layouts of work outfits I've worn recently based on second hand dresses.

@notwavingbutdrowning1 Posted too soon! Meant to also include that I love your new boots (and a bit of Stevie Smith)

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 22/01/2025 23:15

Ha, thanks, @RingofBrodgar - and for the poetry appreciation too.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/01/2025 00:13

All lovely, are you keeping?

I also ordered the red crepe dress, can’t decide whether to keep. It’s lovely on but not sure when I’d wear or how to style.

@bendmeoverbackwards and @RingofBrodgar thanks for asking. I am dithering and probably won't buy. I am 5 ft nothing and a size 6 petite. I think it will be too long and I will be swamped. Talking myself out of it.😪

Urgenthelplease · 24/01/2025 10:41

Not sure whether to keep mine, definitely not the joggers they've got a strange crease down the front

I do like the chisel gold heels and the orange double pleat pants but not sure they're worth the price

The red crepe dress is a great work dress but not sure about it for outside work.

I bought the cord velour shift dress.

I am dithering too...i like it but can't decide if it suits me or not. 17-year-old daughter no help either (she was dithering too)...
I am 56, size 12. Too much "mutton dressed as lamb"?

I have this! Though I bought it before the sale. I wore it lots over Christmas and found it useful - I dressed it down with flat biker boots and tights so didn’t feel it was muttony.

I’m very jealous. I’ve had my eye on those since the autumn but couldn’t justify the cost as I’ve got another cord dress in a longer length from Anthropologie. And while I dithered it went out of stock in my style. Enjoy it!

MrsPositivity1 · 24/01/2025 22:58

Me!!! It arrived yesterday and I love them both

I haven’t read the thread but I did buy a pair of trousers in the sale - still very expensive but well discounted. They are nice and I will keep them but, they are only nice, not amazing, and I was a bit surprised by how cheap the fabric feels. They feel more like Next/Zara quality. The fit is good though.

MeandEmLover · 25/01/2025 21:13

Oh so many lovely purchases!

I don't think that dress is unsuitable for someone in 50s at all.

I have a similar-ish black shift dress i bought about 2 years ago & I've worn it a lot with heeled slight platform boots & also trainers & tights & also chunky laced shoes. I've worn it surprisingly more than I'd expected & it always gets compliments!! I say keep it 👌

I haven't bought any trousers this season but i have 4 or 5 pairs from other years & i have found the quality brilliant, which is what's drawn me back again & again. So I'm sad to hear that you've found them to be on par with zara. That's very disappointing !

I'm considering the ecru jumpsuit if it restocks in my size. I love it but slightly wondering how much wear I'd really get. But I keep coming back to it...

Also meant to say @RingofBrodgar I absolutely ADORE your style!! I covet everything you've shown so far!

I hope you decided to keep the dress , it's lovely.

I really don't think we should be considering the old mutton insult anymore, it's so arbitrarily limiting . I'm 62 and try to judge my clothes on how they make me feel, how much wear etc . I would definitely wear that dress and hope you kept it.

I only wear mine for work tbh. They are bit conservative for me for outside work but perfect for work. I got compliments at my conference last week!
