DD says this isn’t fashionable for me

Verbena17 · 02/01/2025 22:32

I keep going back to the Passenger website and really loving this warm cosy fleece.
However, DD (20+) says it’s camouflage and not fashionable at all.
I get Alaska/fat face outdoors dog walking type vibes from it and think it would be so lovely and warm instead of my old boring waterproof.

Now this isn’t waterproof clearly but on rainy days I’d wear my waterproof. But on fine days, I’d just wear this with my jeans.

Even my mum says she doesn’t like it.

Any other ideas for cosy fleece for dog walking if not this?
I thought it was really cool but I’m clearly past knowing what ‘really cool’ is anymore ….im under 48 and over 45 😂 and would probably need a 16 or 18, although reviews say it’s relaxed fit.

I wouldn't wear it, I think it's awful, ugly and unflattering.
However if you like it and it serves its purpose for you then that's really all that matters. Have the confidence in your own choices.
I'm sure you wouldn't like all my clothes, and that's ok!

Onlyvisiting · 03/01/2025 08:29

Try regatta for more budget friendly.
Ive just bought 2 of these. They are SO warm and look slightly less disreputable for wearing in public to me.
I think it's the material, it's called a fleece but doesn't have that real fleece, soft fluffy exterior that looks knackered really easily.

TizerorFizz · 03/01/2025 08:30

Just buy a long puffer coat! No fleece is remotely fashionable. There are the sporty mums with the flash leggings but I guess you aren’t one of them. Long puffs is the answer, keeps you warm, layers go under it and you can wear it anywhere.

Anyone wearing camouflage looks like they should be holding a rifle.

Verbena17 · 02/01/2025 22:49

Ok, so now I’m completely torn.
Can anyone recommend a toasty fleece that is more acceptable/heading towards being fashionable.

Im making it sound like i usually like to look fashionable but I really don’t,
I live in jeans and a mum top everything single day 😂

So why are you worrying about this being fashionable?

I don’t think it’s too bad actually.

they do have some nice fleeces on Lucy & Yak you could look at…

misspositivepants · 03/01/2025 08:40

I love my fleeces I have so many! I also have the exact one you have linked too, lots of people young and old ask me where it’s from.

Verbena17 · 03/01/2025 08:44

I think when I said ‘fashionable’ I meant does it look nice enough to wear in public.
I don’t really care what people think but I like to look not too weird and out there….again, trying to fit in discreetly without anyone staring at me because I stick out like a sore thumb.

Im not dog walking in the middle of nowhere all the time - often my walks go through the town centre but I know I shouldn’t really care.

Im impressed actually at just how many people on this thread have said I shouldn’t give a care to what anyone thinks. I think I worry because DD still lives here at home and so does kind of feel she can judge what I wear 😂, although she obviously thinks it’s helpful. And often it is.
I absolutely hate shopping and I like to live a pretty minimal life and so rarely clothes shop. So I guess I’ve lost touch a bit with what looks nice on me.

I think it looks comfortable. I much prefer the blue. I'm not sure what you mean r3 Alaska, round, fat face. I grew up in Alaska and never heard that phrase. Remember a fleece can be quite cold if it's windy. I've never owned one that kept out the wind. Wear what you like!

Verbena17 · 03/01/2025 08:50

“I get Alaska/fat face outdoors dog walking type vibes from it and think it would be so lovely and warm instead of my old boring waterproof.”

It wasn’t a phrase and didn’t in luxe the world ‘round’.
I literally mean it’s giving me lovely, outdoors Alaska mountains and snowy vibes. And the style of clothing like ‘fatface’ the brand - outdoorsy/countryside

Peter Storm bonded fleece. Super toasty, but plain colours.

starmoonsun · 03/01/2025 08:52

I quite like it but then I like thick jumpers. I sound similar to you in age and size and would definitely wear it.
But i prefer the purply one that has a kind of mountain scene on it which keeps popping up on my facebook feed, which is also from Passenger.

GogAndMagog · 03/01/2025 08:52

It isn't fashionable for anybody, it's functional clothing. 😂

That said, it's not what you wear it's how you wear it. 😊

soupfiend · 03/01/2025 08:54

I dont like it, but then I dont like that sort of thing and it would make me look frumpy.

However, I see lots of people in things like that and they look great

If you like it, wear it.

If your daughter is 20 I'm guessing she'd probably think Urban Outfitters do more fashionable fleeces. Have a look there, however, if it's for dog walking I'd say warmth, comfort, and plenty of pockets are more important. My DD 27 loves Passenger so maybe it's taste rather than fashion, my DD has a few things from there and is generally considered on trend, but she also loves hiking so dresses appropriately for it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Abracadabra12 · 03/01/2025 09:14

If you're fussed about being fashionable (ish), then I think this colour blocked one is better, and it's on sale too

I think when I said ‘fashionable’ I meant does it look nice enough to wear in public.

And the answer is no to either. 😁

The Ranapui fleece looks good though.

Chocolateteabag · 03/01/2025 09:21

What about a longer line one like this Didrikson one?
If you google the name you may find it in a uk outlet on sale too

I think the single colour way looks slightly "cooler" (but I am 48 and don't care all that much)

How would you feel about any of these @Verbena17 ?

Lots to pick from there.

These are all awful (bar maybe the converse one)

chalkyc2 · 03/01/2025 00:34

God the regatta orla kiely thing is really awful. As are the M&S/ next rubbish.

Passenger is a great ethical outdoorsy brand OP. Go for it. If I cared what my teen kids thought I'd be in a White Fox tracksuit. Thank goodness I do not.

Agree with all of this

All the posters saying it's not fashionable - have you actually seen what late teens/early 20s are wearing on a day to day basis? I have 3 DDs in this age category. All would wear it - and one of them works in fashion.

People who say "that's not fashionable" on S&B tend have no clue about what is currently trending

Soontobe60 · 03/01/2025 09:38

It’s horrible - whatever someone’s age, weight, height! But then again I loathe camouflage. This, however, is fab!

FitAt50 · 03/01/2025 09:43

I don't like it and agree that it looks like a Wolf Fleece that someone working on a market stall would wear.

kezzykate · 03/01/2025 09:45

I like it! I have a couple of very fashionable friends and have seen them in similar.

Disturbia81 · 03/01/2025 10:00

If you like it, you get it! Life is too short. Don't settle for one you half like just because of others opinions
You say you don't like to stand out though, I think you definitely will in that, anything brightly patterned will. Ironic for camouflage 😆
