DD says this isn’t fashionable for me

Verbena17 · 02/01/2025 22:32

I keep going back to the Passenger website and really loving this warm cosy fleece.
However, DD (20+) says it’s camouflage and not fashionable at all.
I get Alaska/fat face outdoors dog walking type vibes from it and think it would be so lovely and warm instead of my old boring waterproof.

Now this isn’t waterproof clearly but on rainy days I’d wear my waterproof. But on fine days, I’d just wear this with my jeans.

Even my mum says she doesn’t like it.

Any other ideas for cosy fleece for dog walking if not this?
I thought it was really cool but I’m clearly past knowing what ‘really cool’ is anymore ….im under 48 and over 45 😂 and would probably need a 16 or 18, although reviews say it’s relaxed fit.

Each to their own, but anyone with a tum looks like a puffball in a fleece imo. I'd get something longer.

chalkyc2 · 03/01/2025 00:34

God the regatta orla kiely thing is really awful. As are the M&S/ next rubbish.

Passenger is a great ethical outdoorsy brand OP. Go for it. If I cared what my teen kids thought I'd be in a White Fox tracksuit. Thank goodness I do not.

Randomontheinternet25 · 03/01/2025 00:36

@chalkyc2 it's out of stock.

chalkyc2 · 03/01/2025 00:40

Sure there's others on passenger. My one complaint is there's too many designs to choose from! I also find it comes up quite generous sometimes so you might be luck with the L.

hideawayforever · 03/01/2025 00:44

I also like it

CoverMySoul · 03/01/2025 00:44

To be totally honest, OP, my first thought was 'that's a bit wolf fleece' Grin but I see things have moved on anyway.

I quite like the Passenger jacket!

Ruthietuthie · 03/01/2025 00:44

OK, you wanted honesty.
I am from the UK but now live in the US. That fleece would be very popular in certain parts of the US. It would be paired with an orange hunting baseball cap, 1980s style baggy bleached denim and dad trainers (not in their current fashionable iteration, but in the "haven't bought new clothes since 1980). You would probably have very few teeth and may well chew tobacco.
If that's the look you are going for, I would go for it.

Vetoncall · 03/01/2025 00:47

I like that last one you posted, the Inspire jacket. I live in this type of thing though, I have dogs and an outdoorsy lifestyle. Patagonia is worth a look for fleeces, the Retro Pile ones are plain colours and are really warm, I have a couple of the quarter zip style in blue and grey.

wandawaves · 03/01/2025 01:02

I think it's hideous! I like the other one you posted though.

You're looking for a cosy fleece for dog walking.

Where does fashion come into it?

My walks often/mostly go straight through the town centre - i don’t want to be blinding everyone 😂

Hmm this is my worry!

I’m predicting what will happen …..
i won’t buy a fleece at all and I’ll get to spring and still be wearing my knackered old dark lilac waterproof 😩. To be honest, by March I’ll probably be back in just a hoodie and be boiling on a walk.

Why do you want to look fashionable walking the dog?

ImDrinkingRum · 03/01/2025 01:25

Have a look at the barbour thornton fleece, plenty of pockets!

Randomontheinternet25 · 03/01/2025 01:28

I suggested the regatta one because it was an outdoor brand & not plain @Verbena17 it's not my thing (though I do have a few of her bags).
What is it that you like about the passenger one? Is it worth checking resale sites? Or check back in case of restocks or returns ?

wandawaves · 03/01/2025 01:32

Verbena17 · 03/01/2025 01:04

Which one?

The "inspire recycled" one in rich navy.

wandawaves · 03/01/2025 01:38

Verbena17 · 03/01/2025 01:12

Or maybe something like this would be better ….
https://www.passenger-clothing.com/products/alaska-recycled-2-0-parka-black

This is nice too, just a bit 'run of the mill'. The blue inspire one has such lovely colours. The difference is though that the inspire one doesn't look like it'd cover your butt? Whereas this one would. So depends if you get a cold butt lol.

CymruChris · 03/01/2025 01:45

You don't dress for other people, you dress for yourself. So who cares if people think its fashionable or not, if you like it then get it!

I love it by the way.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 03/01/2025 01:54

healthybychristmas · 02/01/2025 23:27

It's really really ugly. It looks as though it has only been bought for comfort and not for any kind of style. That's fine if that's how you want to look.

Agreed. If the point is to get something to wear which keeps you warm when dog walking, and that garment does it, then get it. It's not an attractive garment. I can't imagine many people looking at it and thinking "that's such a great look". But it's very bland so it certainly won't attract attention.

To my eyes it doesn't even look particularly good at keeping you warm. It's too short.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 03/01/2025 02:00

If I had this fleece, my DD(17) would have "borrowed" it the first moment I turned my back.

Growlybear83 · 03/01/2025 02:20

What does it matter whether anyone else likes it, or if it is or isn't fashionable? If YOU
like it, then buy it.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 03/01/2025 02:33

Not everything we wear has to be fashionable or stylish. There are some situations where practicality trumps everything. It wouldn't be my choice for dog walking simply because I don't think it looks warm.

DPotter · 03/01/2025 03:06

Why are people bothered about an item of clothing being fashionable, when it will be worn when walking the dog ?

It looks nice a warm, it has a hood and pockets, and is recycled. Tick, tick, tick, tick. Wear what you want
