All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Thanks FIS, yes, much happier today thanks for asking (ewww!)

I can't believe Enid's dd3 is in a bed either, she's surely still a tiny baby?

FIS, I am off to a large ASda this morning and will be attempting to buy cheap and cheerful temp summer wardrobe from there.

ahh let me know if you find anything www.

I saw some lovely work tops in LK Bennett (and got 2) but I really need some basic (less expensive) stuff as I have absolutely nothing other than the ones I've just bought (also, despite being 5'6'' ish, I have to wear petite trousers due to short legs which is a pain!).

DefinitelyNotMARINAWheeler · 10/05/2008 08:57

Oh WOW, www, well done! Fantastic
Guess the strain has been worth it this week then
Have a fab weekend all. I ate virtually nothing yesterday as it was so hot, but that Cornish pasty was not really a prudent choice

foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 09:05

I am lol marina that you have still kept that name.

Iota · 10/05/2008 09:18

8LB ! WWW

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/05/2008 10:20

WWW - I was going to offer to come shopping with you for porktastic summer clothes, but you are clearly not going to need them losing weight at this rate!

I cannot do Atkins type diet as due to my lack of gall bladder, I throw up after too much cheese/high fat food - oh hang on, that might work... if not in the way it was intended.

Enid · 10/05/2008 10:47

8lb! That is amazing!

[knows in heart of hearts that if she gave up wine and lattes she wouldn't need to diet as such AT ALL]

dd3 is only just 2 but had to go in a bed as she had worked out how to scale the sides of her (very old and very deep) cot and literally throw herself over the top, landing cheerfully on her head

she loves her bed and looks heartbreakingly sweet in it.

Anyhoo...
bad start to day - hungover so bacon buttie (BREAD!!!!) and full fat latte in the cafe after dd2's swimming

intending to spend all day in garden though so should get a glow and plenty of exercise

Have a good weekend all bootcampers. www I want to hear MORE about your progress please. marina why are you notmarinawheeler?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/05/2008 11:02

WWW - wow at 8lbs.

Darling Buds/Cold Comfort lifestyle continued this morning with cows in our garden. We managed to herd them into the paddock where the ponies are which led to 7 bullocks and 2 ponies charging about for half an hour. Farmer has now removed them and is sending his sons to fix our fences.

Good day yesterday apart from an excruciating pile (singular). Am fast depleting the stocks of Germoloid that I bought for post-birth. And on that happy note, I'm off to fill up the paddling pool...!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/05/2008 11:04

enid - my DD2 was also in a bed at 2. When she didn't feel like climbing out of her cot ourself, one of her obliging slightly-elder siblings would just drag her over the top. Bed is better!

bamamama · 10/05/2008 11:05

bloody hell www - that's amazing!

Enid - big bed beckons for my ds too, I have managed to put it off for a bit by putting him back in a grobag but I suspect that will only work for so long.

Crap day bootcamp - severely pissed off with dh who rolled in pissed at 4.30am this morning with 2 cronies in tow and has been in bed all day despite promises to do 'family' stuff. Spent the day fantasising about getting on a plane back home. Bound to have been successful on the old ttc front now!

anyhoo, have eaten banana cake and lots of toast plus a huge spag bol as I'm doing this 10k in the morning. I'm aiming to beat an hour. We shall see.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

tortoiseSHELL · 10/05/2008 11:10

enid - how did dd3 like her bed? Did you have a problem getting her to stay in it? Ds2 I think is going to have to move today or tomorrow - he now gets himself out of his sleeping bag, and this morning was finely balanced on the side of the cot - about to smash down on the floor! So I think he is going to have to have a bed alas! We have a little bed like this which we just need to assemble. I am dreading bedtime...

tortoiseSHELL · 10/05/2008 11:10

www - 8lb is AMAZING. Do you feel better for it? Well done!!!!

WWW - 8lbs is brilliant. I'm almost tempted, but if giving up alcohol is worrying enough, the no caffeine rule might prove the real sticking point for me - can you never have caffeine again??

Oliveoil - thanks for recommendation. I think those tops would go well with a couple of skirts I have, but sadly they will not adequately cover the acreage of tum and bum in trousers for me.

Marina - I'm intrigued about the name too - what's it all about??

I had a terrible bootcamp day yesterday but it was great great fun. Far too much booze (I'm sure I'm still over the limit now) but met some nice people out. It was only spoiled by me having a curry when I came home - I really did not enjoy it but still ate more than I should. The good thing is it has confirmed my suspicions that I don't really like heavy curries anymore (apart from Thai ones which are lush).

Today I am preparing for dd's party tomorrow morning so lots of last minute shopping and putting together food boxes and party bags, blowing up balloons etc. At least my period has finally started and the depressed tap has been turned off.

Can I confess that I have never been to Asda (have never lived near one) but would love to go have a look at the clothes. Today I did find a good t-shirt in Sainsbury, if anyone is interested. It is long enough to cover stomach, has half sleeves and a good scooped neckline. Colours are navy and white striped and pink and white striped. And there endeth my first and last fashion recommendation.

Foxinsocks - I am not wallowing in the knowledge that you have short legs but I'm glad to know someone else has the same problem - I thought I was the only 5ft 6 person who has to buy trousers for those who are a good 3 inches shorter (although usually I am in denial about it and have flappy hems). What I don't understand is that knee length skirts on me are by and large just that - I can only conclude I have really abnormally dumpy calves (now that does have me worried).
Enjoy the sunshine all.

lol batters

I feel your pain (we had a sleepover for 4 x 8 year old girls last week )

tortoiseSHELL · 10/05/2008 14:37

That sounds lovely enid! Keep your fingers crossed for ds2 (although I think we are going to have to risk the cot for a couple more nights, as just have NO time to put other bed together!)....

BUT...

ENID - can't believe you were at Bristol Ikea and did not let me know! We live about 1 mile away! And are OFTEN at IKEA.

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2008 14:51

I'm assuming Marina is keen to distance herself from Marina lord-knows-how-she-didn't-leave-him-when-he-was- shagging-half-The-Spectator, the tosser, that one

Thanks for all the congrats on the 8lbs, tis fab. It's also a drop in the ocean but has made me feel very motivated to keep going. My wee is bright yellow, bizarrely, I think it must be all the tablets. Was a bit shocked when I first noticed in the loo at hairdressers this morning but then remembered a friend whose mother owned a health food shop going on about how his wee was always bright yellow because of all the pills she used to shove down him every morning and was reassured. May also go and search on the pig2twig forum in a bit.

Duchess, oh goodness, swoon over your country lifestyle at "the farmer will send his sons round to mend the fence", how lovely! But sounds like a drama, blimey!

Iota, you are very kind! I am going to go there tomorrow, had to rush from Asda to hair appt so couldn't try your suggestions today but will do.

Moonshine, I hope dd's party goes well. I love curry and I can have it on this diet as long as I don't have naan or rice or potatoes. Sounds like a lovely social time thoguh.

Bama, are you not tempted to send as many children as you can round up to play in daddy's room?

Enid, she sounds so sweet. Was getting the hangover fun?

Marina, ha ha Cornish pasty is most definitely allowed if it's all you ate and esp before Slimy World. The strain is less my dear I am pleased to report, although my wee is yellow, sigh.

TS, good luck with the bed. Dd has a little Ikea bed similar to the one in your link (from Ikea in Bristol actually!) and never sleeps in it, she insists on cuddling up to ds in his double bed but they're so sweet and when I go to see the before I go to bed they are so sprawled and comfortable I am allowing it.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 10/05/2008 14:57

Today

cheese omelette with 2 eggs
aforementioned millions of vitamins and pills
lobster (cooked ones for £7.50 in Asdal! Bristolian pronounciation there for your delectation TS!)
crayfish tails
prawns
all dipped in garlic mayonnaise, homemade by dh because all the versions in fridge have some sugar in
salad with avocado, celery and olive oil and lemon juice dressing
bit of brie

And feel pretty bloody amazing actually!
Very happy.
