All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

bamamama · 07/05/2008 07:07

www- I'm liking the sound of your diet - can't get decent bacon for love nor money in Oz. I take it your on some Atkinsesque plan? (last time I was around it was all granola and wotsits!)

Duchess - I know we're not too old in the scheme of things but as ds was a happy accident we've never actually officially ttc before so I just can't see how we'll be successful first off. Mind you I hope it is pretty speedy as I suspect the process could become all encompassing. When are you due btw, surely dc is imminent.

L&S hope all is going well with your wee man. Not too tired I trust?

Well today I have so far eaten 4 pieces of toast a chocolate muffin and two cups of coffee. It's about 4pm here at the moment so not that good. I'm off to have an apple!

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 09:21

I am doing India and Neris bama, day 4 today, just had bacon and eggs for breakfast, lovely. Can't really believe this is going to result in any weight loss whatsoever but hey, it's very enjoyable anyway if it doesn't!

Did the school run and came home and got the pans out for bacon, eggs & mushrooms. WWW - it's all your fault!!!

It was lovely though. DH can't remember the last time he had a cooked breakfast!

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 10:25

OMG DofN and your life just got even more Darling Buds of May! Bacon and eggs are fab aren't they? How long to go now?

Batters, oh I know what you mean, ds is away on a residential school trip for three days next week, eek. I am nervous. He's away with his dad often but not abseiling and stuff,

I am working from home today and all I've done so far is chores like go to the post office and order flowers for my mum's birthday tomorrow and post letters (diff post office to one for collecting parcels) and have achieved nothing else. I saw a woman walking along with a girl about dd's age and felt a bit wistful that she's going to school in Sept and I can't afford a month off until December. Oh well, things you cannot change and all that.

I am a carb and sugar addict I think, I live for my daily toast

not done much apart from tidy up recently, we have had our house on the market for 2 weeks and I am sick of viewings already, trying to keep tidy is v annoying

isn't the sun lovely? everyone is in a far better mood when the sun is out

btw, Boots have an offer on Flexitol atm - buy one get second half price, so you save £2.50 (and get a £5 voucher for skincare) so if you have hideous hooves, get ye to Boots

Enid · 07/05/2008 10:39

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 10:40

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 07/05/2008 10:41

19 days to go. Early, late or on time. We shall see!

To be truly Darling Buds, DH & I should have eaten our bacon & eggs in the bath.

A month off in December will be lovely though, think of all the nice Christmassy things you'll be able to do. And you are at home on Wednesdays now too.

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 10:44

Wow 19 days, how lovely! That's gone v quickly for me! But prob not as quickly for you. lol at bath. I look a bit like Ma but blonde

OP posts:
LoveAndSqualor · 07/05/2008 11:01

Ooooh WWW how funny - I definitely pictured you with brown hair! Discombobulating in the extreme to find you're blonde - don't suppose you feel like dying it? For me?

We had shepherds' pie last night - delicious, but about the least summery dish you could imagine. Did have a wonderfully sundrenched lunch at Carluccio's yesterday though - loads of salads and parma ham and a lemon tart for pudding. mmmmm. And then went shopping with lunch friend and bought a lovely thin-knit jumper from Hobbs, so high on happiness.

Today, off to take DS back to the cranial osteopath; may meet friends for lunch beforehand. Gorgeous weather again - and still not too hot [northern and wussy emoticon].

Hello all
HOW'S THE HEAD TORTY?
Sorry to hear you've been under the weather again bundy, "too tired to knit" is not good.
Given how many bootcampers also forswear the Overlap in another part of the forest, are we all "too repressed to shag other people's partners indiscriminately", maybe?
So glad dd is back safe and well batters, there is nothing to beat the reunion feeling Your ds will be fine too honest, www. I felt sick waving little ds off on his first residential trip last October, and he had a fantastic if filthy time.
Not doing great on bootcamp today other than sensible eating and water. Too busy to walk at lunch and too frazzled for contentment. Also dh has double-booked himself tonight so cannot sign up for Slimy World as hoped. Hope you are through the protein yuk barrier soon www, and I WILL go next week.
Only 19 days to go for DoNB, how exciting

tortoiseSHELL · 07/05/2008 14:55

hello all, hmm, read that post back, that was definitely an 'after a bottle of wine' post not a 'before it'. But was v nice wine! Actually I do have a bit of a headache today, but I'm blaming the sunshine not the wine .

Sorry you're ill bundle, hope you're feeling better soon. DonB - can't believe it's only 19 days! They'll fly by!

Batters, glad your dd is home ,and www, your ds will be fine! Am dreading the first time ds1 has to go away!

yoyo · 07/05/2008 16:19

Went to gym last night and had a session with trainer this p.m. which was great (no dizziness or fainting this time thank goodness). Am feeling incredibly motivated not least because I was in a meeting this morning with three sub-thirty women who all looked absolutely gorgeous - strappy dress/tight skirt/floaty number - all very different but oozing youth and confidence. Used it as a mental picture in the gym.

Bundle - sorry to read that your poorly.
Batters - glad to read that you are getting back in the groove.
DofNB - it all sounds idyllic where you are
Enid - how are you enjoying the pilates? Are you having one-to-one?
Marina - you must let us know how Slimy World goes.
WWW - DH rather fancies your diet. Have told him he will have to prepare all his own meals. Less keen now.

Off to buy some summerwear this evening. Really not in the mood for this but it is essential.

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 17:40

lololol at "Bitters" ha ha ha
yes, and I am catty apparently!

Yoyo, omg at the women, I just know I will be surrounded by lithe and peachy 20somethings at work tomorrow, sob.

Bundle, hope you feel better soon.

Ts, hello and at wine, I have to do TWO whole weeks without, then I can have some then I have to do another 2 weeks. sob some more

Saggars well done on the running

L&S sorry to discombobulate you! I am a dyed blonde if it helps?

Yoyo, dh and I talked about my diet at lunchtime and neither of us is convinced it will work.

Hello all.

Well done to all you weight-losers - I am the standard bearer for the weight-gainers amongst us (despite all good intentions).

WWW - why are you catty? What have I missed? Hope the diet is not too ghastly, but it does sound quite lush, although breakfast is the bit I'd worry about as I'd have the inclination but not the time for bacon and eggs.

I have some credibly chic, slim 20 and 30 somethings in my office who have slipped effortlessly into summer clothes mode today . I thought f**k it myself today and wore a dress to my knees with no tights - and instantly regretted it when I looked in the full-length mirror at work. I am so useless at summer dressing. But I do tell myself that I have reached that age where I am allowed to be, ahem, flawed and wearing life's excesses on my sleeves (and legs, and stomach etc etc).

Anyway, trying to be positive - and I have to say it's the gym and running that does it for me too.

Am not drinking until at least Friday and later if possible but fear I may need it as I have dd's first (and probably last!) largish organised party this weekend. And some things I have ordered have not arrived yet .

Never mind, it's nearly Apprentice time!
