All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

um, batters, um, um, was all tied in with chinese takeaway, a very nice bottle of wine in the fridge - pathetic excuse I know!!! Ah well...

WideWebWitch · 07/05/2008 19:52

Oh Moonshine, I do sympathise re summer dressing, I am crap at it too. I do have a long floaty black skirt but put it on this morning (only to take ds to school, working from home so in pyjamas once I got back) and have NOTHING to wear on top.

Hello lovely bootcampers

Just checking in from the sickbay. Congrats on the weightloss. Envious of the India diet. Am in summer clothes hell too.

Looking forward to getting back with you all once the nausea passes. Am 9w today so perhaps only 3-4 weeks of this to go . Am reading regularly and enjoy hearing about what you are all up to! Good luck Duchess, can't wait to hear your good news.

Take care and best wishes to everyone XX

unknownrebelbang · 07/05/2008 22:23

bugger, just done a long boring rambling post, and lost the damn thing.

Hello everyone.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze, even though DH is drinking a bottle of shiraz as I type.
  • 2 mile hike
  • Lots of water/weak tea
  • Apply body cream lax
  • Use hand cream lax
  • Go to bed early, asleep by 11 last night.
  • Eat healthily, ok today, did go out for tea to a carvery with some friends, and had a desert which I wasn't planning on.
  • Be happy - was good to meet up with friends, but two days' sun and my ankles are a leetle bit puffy, grrr.
unknownrebelbang · 07/05/2008 22:31

pmsl at Marina's post, after the too repressed to shag bit I read that DS had gone away and "we" had a filthy time, not "he", oops. (Did wonder where DD was...).

Ha, I'm not the only one! I used to think www was a raven-haired, sleek-bobbed woman.

Takes some consolation from the fact that, bar one, all my colleagues are older than me, lol, and none of us glam up for work.

I am, however, in torment over what to wear over summer. Black and deep jewel colours don't cut the mustard really, and I really struggle with tops. aarrgghh.

bamamama · 08/05/2008 04:36

Just a flying visit from me as in the time it took me to catch up ds has (finally) worked out how to get out of his cot. I suspect the move to Big Boy Bed beckons.

All going ok bootcamp wise. Still feeling off and crampy so who knows?? (Congrats ChutneyMary by the way!)

Right, will catch up properly later, I need to hide the laptop before ds starts demanding fireman sam again...

A happy sunlit birthday to batters' dd from another black and jewel colour-me-chubby merchant!
Good to see you whizzing through bama and Chutney and well done on the gym yoyo
Ureb, I am a librarian. I work with librarians. I too am not challenged on the gorgeous foxy colleague front

bamamama · 08/05/2008 11:30

I too have a horror of the summer wardrobe which has somewhat been brought to a head by living in Oz! However it is now cold and I bought a big cardy(cardi/cardie???) today which I am extremely pleased about. My response to summer here was an extremely long full black skirt, vest tops and birkenstocks. Not so practical for the office though I suppose.

Happy birthday to Batters dd!

Marina, don't you librarian types finish the day by unleashing and flicking about long locks and suggestively removing glasses??

Also, I too am shocked that www is blonde! I assumed L&S was blonde too but I think I may be wrong there.

Haven't drunk enough water today and have snacked rather a lot however I have walked 18k and run for 30 minutes so I figure that must cancel it out a bit.

yoyo · 08/05/2008 15:02

Suffering a few aches in the legs after yesterday's gym session. Planning on going tonight but will probably not stay that long. Summer clothes shopping was a hideous experience and I left with a top for the gym and a tee-shirt - I took armfuls of stuff in to try on .
Still feeling very determined though and have had a good day so far.

Bamamama - is that 18 k steps? Sounds like you have had an active day.

Batters - yes, we are watching WWW's posts with interest too as I don't know anyone who has followed the I & N diet. Happy birthday to your DD. Pancakes in the morning are very Dom Goddess!

WWW - I pictured you as a brunette too! Have no idea why though. Hope you weren't feeling too yucky today. Regale us with your menu.

Off to collect DC now then must catch up on cleaning. What joy.

moonshine · 08/05/2008 17:11

Lol at the disapproving/wagging finger posts at catty WWW and bitter Batters. You'll get yourself a reputation, y'know .

I reckon Bamamama does mean 18k - I seem to remember you always used to (still do?) an incredible amount of steps in a day (usually my weekly total!).

Batters - share your tops secret please and where you find them. I cannot find any to satisfy my covering tops of arms/stomach/bum and not being madly swirling patterns - some are nice but I've always preferred plain clothes (but love jewel colours!). oh and happy birthday to your dd!

I was very depressed today as I thought my trousers were so tight but by the end of the day had worked out that it was actually my pants! Pants are another thing I can never get right, sigh.

But am feeling fairly happy today. Took the dcs out for an ice-cream and didn't hesitate to have a big chocolately/caramelly one myself. All my party parcels arrived. And I am off work tomorrow so will not have to stress too much over what I have to wear (jeans and old t-shirt) and whether my legs have to be outed again.

WideWebWitch · 08/05/2008 20:35

lololol Moonshine at "actually my pants" ha ha ha! Ahem and sympathy, obviously!

Well my natural hair colour is brunette but I've been blonde for about 9 years now. When I;m thinner I may go back to my normal colour to save money on roots every six weeks but am not brave enough to do it yet as I am scared I will hate it and then I'll be fat AND have horrible hair!

Sorry to all of those who have joined me in summer clothes hell. Should we start a "oi, Chubsters, what are you wearing now it's hot?" thread for ideas? I will, let's see if anyone can recommend some tents clothes.

Well I do feel rubbish today but bearable:

multi vitamin
milk thistle
fish oil

3 rashers of bacon and 2 fried eggs
lunch was a cold salmon steak (cooked last night) plus tomato mozzarella and basil salad and half an avocado
some brazil nuts and small piece of cheese for a snack
supper was a steak with a pepper and cream sauce
spinach and watercress salad with olive oil and lemon juice dressing
loads of water
sunscreen
NO COFFEE for TWO DAYS. That's the longest ever. I was going to ignore that part of India and Neris and then decided yesterday that I shouldn't. Eeek, I normally start my day with 3 tsps of coffee and hot water, no milk or sugar, but that's 2 days I haven't now.

Went to bed straight after "You're fired" last night. No booze since Saturday so that's what, 5 days.

Look like shit but dh said tonight, gosh I think you do look a bit thinner. I won't weigh myself until Sat, which is day 7 and when they tell you to. Mind you, they tell you to do it after a poo and there aren;t many of those aboot. (sorry for tmi) Am waiting for my Holland and Barrett delivery of extra vits + physallis husks which are supposed to prevent said poo issue.

I am so so determined to be thinner by October.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze, even though DH is drinking a bottle of shiraz as I type.
  • 2 mile hike and 20 min swim
  • Lots of water/weak tea
  • Apply body cream - swam, steamed and slathered.
  • Use hand cream yy
  • Go to bed early, stupid o'clock again.
  • Eat healthily, not bad today, plenty of fruit.
  • Be happy - went to visit a friend, and ended up spending an hour with her mum instead, who is lovely - a great antidote to the dire day at work.

Batters, no, I'm not hungry on this diet hence I can't quite believe it'll work. The book says "if you're hungry, eat some cheese" !!!
So I'll either be heavier or lighter or he same on Sat. Da da da! Will post when I've weighed myself. Happy Birthday to your lovely dd

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/05/2008 23:26

batters - aqua-aerobics sounds hysterically funny. Did the ball that was supposed to be between your knees really launch out of the water when you let go? Hahaha!

Hang in there Chutney, the ms will pass soon.

www - I am not reading your food lists because the temptation to cook steaks with creamy sauces at 11pm is too great.

Quite a good day for me. I am enjoying the weather because I'm not doing very much. I did have to go on the school run wearing my hideous new flat mules, maternity shorts and a vest t-shirt so less moaning from those who are able to waft about in long floaty skirts if you please! At least the exfoliating/self tanning lotion paid off.

Have eaten cereal; carrots; apples; 2 teacakes; homemade veg soup & bread; baked potato, Cornish Yarg & salad; more fruit and half a large bag of Burts Bacon flavour crisps. Lots and lots of water and apple juice, only 2 coffees.

Body scrubbed & self-tanned. Lots of handcream. Factor 30 today in addition to usual SPF moisturiser. Must flexitol before bed. I'm not sleeping well again but I am at least spending at 8 hours in bed. Happy to be pottering around in the sunshine.

bamamama · 09/05/2008 05:50

Hello all - it's nearly the weekend Hooray! (although as a sahm I suppose it's all the same to me...)

yes, it was 18k yesterday but I haven't been able to do much training for this 10k run on Sunday so have been doing all the walking I can.

Had a huge BLT (with crap bacon in it) and a bigger slice of white chocolate mud cake for lunch so feeling a little bloated now. Ah well.

Good luck for the weigh-in www, you see, you can't hide your natural hair colour on the internet - too many people thought you were a brunette?!

Batters, I'm rather fond of the notion of birthday eve, birthday and birthday boxing-day so that's 3 days of pancakes for your dd right off!

Duchess - are you due the 25th? That's ds's second birthday so you'll have to have yours on the 24th or 26th if you don't mind....

Enid · 09/05/2008 13:09

body brushing seems to have paid off as legs quite smooth for once

have been applying johnsons holiday skin in attempt to lift them from paste hell

spent £60 in matalan yesterday on some summery clothes for work - also bought a pair of WHITE JEANS which I am wearing today and worrying about.

Looking forward to the weekend. Really wish we were staying in tonight but we have dinner at a friensd house. I will not drink and drive so it will be a bit boring.

Tired as dd2's move to a bed has been rather eventful. Still, seeing her all tucked in this morning, laying back on her pillow and reading Peepo almost made the night shenanigans worth it.

almost

Enid · 09/05/2008 13:09

sorry that should be dd3!

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2008 07:58

I've LOST EIGHT POUNDS!! In 7 days! I am SO happy

So I think it fair to say

a) this works and
b) I will be sticking to it until I'm at my target weight (sorry to use the language of sliming clubs on you!)

I haven't been hungry, I have been eating delicious food, I just haven't had carbs or sugar or caffeine or wine. Just all the stuff I've posted. And I feel GOOD today

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 10/05/2008 08:04

cor enid, dd3 in a BED? It doesn't seem that long ago that she was a wee gorgeous baby.

well done www. Have just read your carb thread and your err digestive troubles! Hope it is all sorted now.

I seem to be gaining all the weight you are losing and am now a good 5 kg heavier! I think A LOT of it is due to eating out because of work (and also the drinking that comes with it). I'm also realising that I used to exercise by default during the days before I went back to work - so lots of walking and swimming and just generally moving about. Now, Monday to Friday, I sit at my desk and look out the window at the sunny weather and day dream about being outside. Sigh.

So am on a health kick as from today. No more croissants for breakfast , cutting down on lattes and sensible options when I have to eat out!

Skin is v pasty white too so might consider that johnsons stuff if it does the trick.

What are you all wearing for work in this weather? I am in linen pants and shirts atm

WideWebWitch · 10/05/2008 08:05

And my Holland and Barrett package came yesterday so today I've had

Multi vitamin
Vitamin B
Milk thistle
fish oil
co - enzyme Q10
GT something or other
psyllium husks

and lots of water. But about to have bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Happy days.
