Things that S and B hates but are actually pretty great

I have just leaned into being unfashionable and bought a pair of Fitflop trainers, after looking everywhere for comfortable city walking trainers. I expected them to be hideous given the flak they get on here, but actually, they look ok. Minimalist even. And are supremely comfortable. I had trendy Adidas before and they were so hard on my feet. Hate the large, ugly branding on NB, Hoka and other trendy trainers.

I feel the same way about my Seasalt Janelle, now in it's third year, much reviled on here, but I think it looks fine on me and is such good quality. Also my Land's End coat and swimsuit.

What other things do you like that are not trendy, but great quality and you wear all the time?

You sound brilliant: waistcoats, collar bones and no tits, angles, trouser suits!! I bet you look ready to slay . But put dem socks with sandals down! My DH wears them unrepentantly. I once threatened to leave him when we were back in our 20s. 20 years on, he ain't never tried that madness again.

That's exactly what my parents always said too! I've never worn leggings, possibly because this thought traumatised me too much when I was young 😆

My dad used to say this to my sister and I back in the 80s. It didn’t help that we used to steal my grandad’s flat caps to wear with them too.

I've always been thinner on my bottom half so she wasn't far wrong.

Bayliss and harding. I've had it from my sister for the last two years, it's perfectly good.

My first ever leggings, so before there were proper leggings but I think Madonna had been wearing what were probably dance footless tights or something, were a pair of dyed black long johns with braces that I bought at Camden market. My good I loved them and they looked fabulous!

I got told that I looked like Max Wall as well, I think it was an eighties thing said by mums and dads. My mum went on to wear leggings herself, I chose to not care what was said about me and to make them even more "Oh my god what are you doing?!" sometimes wore them with a grandad shirt along with DMs so that I more resembled their insult. It's so hard to insult someone who owns your insult and has not a fuck to give.

Just realised that I have a grandad shirt again - I bought a vintage one off of the eBay to wear under dungarees for a 1940s fancy dress (land girl). I need to wear that over some leggings and pretend docs again and rock the Max Wall look for the 21st century. Funnily enough the thing I don't currently have is a pair of well-fitting leggings so that's a bit of mild clothes shopping fun sorted for me!
